"thanks as always to nyrhtaK for the routing" From what I remember you made some changes, don't sell yourself short. Either way, once I have time again, I'll be back to make some attempts at the record. I've just been super busy.
true enough, it's just I imagine the initial routing for this game must've taken so much time, I don't want to undersell that. like figuring out the best batches of prisms to grab and lining your ending position with the portal spawn and all. I appreciate it a lot!
My initial path for each level was usually what Onorati showed me. Then I heavily modified everything over time to try and figure out which specific gems are faster. AA - Yep that seems right. I've had an idea in my head for something that *may* be faster, but it's so difficult that I can only like once in 50 get it. DD - Oh you skip the first boost gate too. I think like ~2-3 of our prisms are different there. MM - Exact same. Not much you can do to that level it's already stupid. VV - I got sub-3 at one point and like stopped playing it for a while. I want to revisit the level again just to explore. That was like one of the first paths I used and never really explored much like the others. I do like the wiggle though, and the 46(ish) minute jump. ZZ - I am still proud of the first skip. Onorati's initial route had that skip later in that section but I just said screw it and tried to go there. I really like how you have a lot of specific places that you go / aim towards meanwhile all of my runs are like "go this-ish-way". I should probably learn the actual timings instead of eyeballing it. "I would really prefer not having to update the strats any-time soon." I assure you the strats changed so many freaking times before this lol. (Also they are fireworks not coins).
I'm too lazy to edit the message so I'm going to add the TL;DR here: TL;DR: Onorati had the initial route for the level, I like turned all of them upside down and generated what I got. Then you came along and found the few optimizations I missed after seeing the levels so many times I couldn't think.
ooh, very nice! I didn't mean to go too hard on VV but once I was watching the footage again knowing the best time is going to get harder and harder, it just sort of slipped out lol!
@@bainhardt It is a very hard level you're right lol - trying to beat your time those triangles I placed ever so slightly too far away so you have to wiggle... those are a pain. Coming at them at an angle seems to help - like approaching the sets of three after the first checkpoint somewhat at an angle instead of head on. I don't look forward to trying to get that time back once you likely inevitably reclaim it...
Oh and one other thing that I did to get the record right now - on the "donut" platforms throughout the level, the 90 degree bends, and the spiral tower at the first, try to hug as close to the center as possible. It saves a small bit of time (probably fractions of a second) the closer to the shortest lengths of the platforms you're on. Hopefully that makes some sense without a visual to explain with.
another dev here (the one who is the worst at the game lmao) - in the past, i had some code which could record and playback runs as ghosts. i never finished it to a game-ready state of polish, but if i did, would you find that helpful?

My hand was forced with the Volcanic Void slander. I have retaken that time for myself >:)
Lemme get the popcorn out to watch this battle.

14:35 platform.

that sounds awesome! something like being able to race ghosts of the record runs on stages (your own or otherwise) would be huge for grinding times
