Reviews of Amy's Teaching Sessions:
"Right after the first lesson, my director told me I had already improved. It was easy to work with Amy: she has the rare and beautiful quality of being a shining person, solar and with huge energy to give..." Daniele Favilli Actor
"I have gone through speech therapy my entire life. I have also been teased about a speech impediment my entire life. No one could convince me to open up and really work on my voice, until I met Amy. She creates a very inviting and encouraging environment. Working on a "downfall" is such a venerable time but with Amy, I was always eager to receive feedback from her. " Bo Roberts Model, Actor
"Amy is a sheer delight to work with! Her 'amiable' nature and intuitive teaching style make working with dialects both an entertaining and natural experience. I look forward to training with her again and again in the future!" Mara Junot Voice-Over Specialist
"I was talking to my husband today after practicing from our tapes, and he said that this is the best improvement in accent he had ever heard from me!"
Shikha Jain Actress
This stuff isn't easy. Whole new appreciation for actors and theater.
If you are not a native English speaker but you want to sound like one of them, relax! It takes time and it is a matter of exposure. Travelling, studying in a English facility like high school or college. Working abroad etc. Let it happen slowly and naturally, many times I tried to imitate them, it works but it seems like you're acting. When we are stressed, our accent tends to be thicker because our emotions are "stored" in our native language. It takes time but it is possible. One step at the time people!

Amy is an incredible teacher! This is so damn easy to follow for non natives!
+CosmicVeganLoke interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about practice american accent try Vaxicorn Instant Accent Guide (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my co-worker got great success with it.
There is actually a simple explanation why the "d" at the end of "taped" sounds like a "t". There are 3 different cases:
1. if the last sound of the verb has an unvoiced consonant, the d in "ed" will be pronounced as a "t": tape => p = unvoiced => "tapT"
2. if the last sound of the verb has a voiced consonant, the d in "ed" will be pronounced as a "d": love => v = voiced => "lovD"
3. if the last sound of the verb has a "d" or a "t", the d in "ed" will be pronounced as a "d" and the e in "ed" as an i, like in "sit": land => d => "landid"
As an American watching this it's really interesting analyzing my own accent. I didn't realize a lot of these things. Hm.
It's really interesting.
Teacher like you, that we need, very amazing and finally your smile is wonderful
I can spend two hours on her teaching and doesn't get boring. Such a wonderful teacher, and everyone is right about her smile, not to mention her sweet voice!!!
i always thought us americans had a boring accent with nothing special about it but this makes me realize all the weird stuff we do when we speak, and i love how the answer to a lot of "why" type questions is "just because american" haha
Ozziewald because your used to it not unlike Asian like me, sounds amazing to us thats why we want to learn American accent.
She looks like an angel.just as her beauty she teaches greatly.I love her videos
i am american and find these videos sooo interesting. i never new my own accent!
Es muy divertido ver su cara de sorprendida, jajaja es lo mejor me hace prestar mas atención
I'm American. Why am I watching this? Is this what happens when you're bored at 2 am?
I'm doing that too! Idek why
Same here. Lol. what's funny is I don't have much of a regional accent, so I'm basically listening to my normal accent get dissected.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm listening to this while crunching baseball statistics. It's very relaxing.
As an American, I'm watching this out of curiosity. Since I grew up in this accent and language, I don't think of things that non-Americans struggle to comprehend, and I find that fascinating. Like how she mentioned that the 'd' on the end of the word "taped" sounds like a 't' ... I never thought that, even though I say words like that all the time obviously. It's just really neat to see things from a totally different perspective. One that's not my own.
she is really talented and gives lessons with so dramatically so its easy to get understand ,,, amy such a beautiful face you have ,,,, its so nice to get learn from your videos thanking you from bottem of heart for giving lots of time for us :)

Hey there, miss Amy :)
Amy I'm so grateful about those video! I have found this series about 7 years ago when I started acting and I can't describe in words how much all this helped me! I'm constantly coming bach to those videos when I feel that my accent needs a bit of freshing up! thank you so much
ive lived in america my whole life,I dont know why im here but this is cool.
You are adorale. I have lost my American Accent by living in Europe. I need to get it back. Your tutorial is great and you are just too adorable.
Finally I have seen a practical help to pronunciations; less of the theories that leaves one with only little progress. I haven't seen any difference between the way you pronounce and the Canadian accent. So, I have found what I have been looking for. I will also try not to be distracted by your beautiful looks. Thanks Amy. You are the best!
I am so grateful for this video !
Thank you a million, You are a wonderful teacher and this is very helpful x
I can't believe I missed a lot of years not finding you sooner.
I love Amy, I don't know how else I'm going to learn (how) to speak in an American accent
I know its never too late for me to discover your channel, i never get bored listening to you while learning, you are a good teacher thanks for sharing your knowledge, greetings from PH
I'm from Singapore. I'm actually mixed so I speak quite a lot of languages. Sometimes how I pronounce an English word is quite hard for me. I have a singapore accent which many people called them singlish and I really don't wanna speak in that accent any more and Idc what people in Singapore gonna say about my accent after I learn all this. I really hope I could achieve that " American accent".
You are amazing Amy! thank you very much...I would not get bored now learning American Accent/pronunciation. Great job, I knew you have helped a lot of people. More power to you!
Thank you! I find the standard American accent one of the hardest to pick up as a Westcountry English speaker. It really helped when you explained that the rhotic 'r' tongue placement is cupped and further forward towards the teeth. My biggest trouble was always overpronouncing it, and I never realised that it's because they're different in my accent and yours. (The Cornish 'r' puts your tongue way back in your mouth.) That was really helpful and made my American accent sound much more natural!
I'm Irish and this is really easy cause I speak like this everyday some words no but most of them yes cause I don't have a strong Irish accent ! It's weird I thought it was goin to be difficult but no Thanks xx ~ Amy
Hello Amy
I just wanted to say a big thank you for these videos. I used them to work on my accent for an American army general for a filmed section for an escape room in Nottingham in the UK. I couldn't have done it without them. Thanks!

Hello Amy, just found this two amazing videos and wanted to thank you for your time and efforts! I'm Ukrainian and it's very helpful. The hardest word for me is MOUNTAIN. It's my personal hell😅 struggling with it for a month now, my brain doesn't understand the process!(( Thank you for an explanation of the sounds that it contains. And I would appreciate if you could do a separate video for it. It got easier, but still not good enough. Many thanks!
My God you are the most beautiful teacher that I´ve ever seen in my life. I´m fall in love ! ! !
I'm Irish and this is really easy cause I speak like this everyday cause I don't have a strong Irish accent !

I'm so glad I found your channel again. I was subscribed a couple of years ago, but then my pc died, I moved to another place, and a couple of other things happened, and today I accidentally your video in the youtube recommendations, and your face seemed vaguely familiar, as if I stumbled upon a person who used to go to the same school as I or something like that; I'm sure everyone knows that feeling. Ugh, in short - I'm genuinely happy to see you again. It's a good day.

I lived in Canada for 4 years and I just realized that I have been pronouncing "little" wrong my whole life. Thanks a lot!
i love when she say schwa!
sweet! I love the way you put the words on the screen like in the part 1. it's easier for us to follow. thank you.
may God bless you Amy. you helped me and very simply too. part 1 is deleted by youtube could you update it and upload it please. every little bit counts.
"d" at the end of "taped" sounds like a "t" because of a wonderful thing called FINAL DEVOICING! :) many voiced consonants (d, g, f, b...) take on the sound of the voiceless counterpart (t, k, v, p...) when the consonant is FINAL (at the end of the word) hence FINAL DEVOICING! fun stuff
Much thanks of this hard work , I really learned a lot as a arabic speaker
*an arabic
swear her eyes has a magic,THAT'S for real!!!!
you are an excellent teacher!
I love Amy's videos and her upbeat spirit.
However, I do have two critiques--she doesn't differentiate between accent and dialect which is very important in her case. "Accent" refers to a person who speaks multiple languages and his/her first language pattern influences a new language pattern (a native Italian speaker would pronounce "hit" as "heet" because of the native Italian understanding that the letter/sound "i" is always pronounced "eee").
"Dialect" refers to a variation of the same language (Standard American vs. Appalachian Dialect)--both speak American English, but have dialectal differences (Standard American "car" vs. Bostonian dialect "cah").
Another small note is that the "t" in "trick" is actually a "ch" sound---think about it. The teeth come together and the lips push forward when producing a "tr" combination, resulting in a "ch" sound.
I also think about different time periods as well like you said.
Amy, thank you for your video lessons! It's really helpful! I love it!!!
Thanks for share your English video.Your are great teacher.keep on ...
As a recommendation. Record yourself with your phone.while you watch the video so you can listen to the way she says it, and the way you say it later, pause the video say it a couple of times and then go on. At the end listen to the recording, and you can hear how she says it and how you do :D
