Thank you, Lisa, for sharing this authentic example that illuminates the crucial role of stress patterns in conveying meaning and emotion. Many non-native English speakers unintentionally "change the story" with unexpected stress. The Picasso quote sums up the situation!
I'm not in need to perfect my accent but this is great for just basic conversation on how stressing a word can give someone the wrong idea of your message!
Dear Ms. Lisa; I have read comments on your channel, and I could not agree more with those who share the same views as mine. You share the meat and bone in learning English, and you are so generous with your knowleage and for that matter, you deserve the highest salute from all of us. Thank you again for your teaching.
I couldn't stop myself to comment that it's very helpful video. So we request to upload this kind of sentence analysis video frequently.👏😊100% worth watching.
You're the best one i've ever seen. And i'm so glad to see you here again with your English.l like to listen to you , to learn from you. You explain everything very clearly that i understand you. I love you and your lessons. Thank You Liza.
Thank you so much for searching this. I am an African and an actress. I have my first movie to my credit ( Birds of Paradise), i must say this is very useful to me.
Hi Lisa, thanks so much for this video. As an actor I can honestly say that this video is REALLY useful. Thank you very much for your time. You're amazing! :)
you know , I have the 4 videos of 51 rules you must know and recommend anyone to watch them and never seen someone explain like you .. wait from you more and plz make videos about listening and spelling techniques . wish for you best wishes
I think we're on the same page. When I stress the wrong word I convey the wrong message which gets me in trouble. Thanks a lot for this lesson and by the way both of you are goregous.
Really fascinating to see the accent training process for actors in action! Varying stress can really lead to significant changes in meaning. That said, Yasmine has a fantastic level of English, but acting in English is a whole other level of linguistic skill.
Dear Teacher you are really doing a great job in helping everyone with an internet connection who are enthusiastic to learn English Language with correct accent. I have no words to appreciate your job.Its such a sacred job! All I can say or wish for you with due respect and great adniration: " May ALLAH bless you with all that you deserve for your great service to English Language Students and may your respect, knowledge and courage increase with every single day"
As an Italian, I studied accent reduction and speech for about 4 years in NYC in order to get rid of my foreign accent and acquire a perfect General American as well as the Eastern Standard accent. I reached the point of sounding like a native speaker in real life everyday conversations with American people. Only occasionally, meaning whenever I happened to mess up a certain sound at a certain point of the dialogue (due to tiredness, or unfamiliarity with a certain word, etc) they would be able to detect _something off_ that would lead them to then ask, _"hmm, where are you from?"._ At the time I would train 3 to 4 times a week with a teacher and every single day on my own by practicing, doing repetitions, working on consonants, diphthongs, vowels, schwa, front vowels, back vowels, length of sounds, intonation, voice placement, musicality, rhythm, breathing exercises, resonance, stress and demeanor (the personality and mindset of the average Italian person are different from those of an average American, as we know). The evolution of my voice and my accent was something of a true miracle. I have now been living in Los Angeles for 20 years and stopped pursuing acting, which led me to also interrupt the daily training and lessons I so religiously dedicated myself to. The results are clear as I'm no longer capable of passing for a native speaker from the US. This, of course, goes hand in hand with my loss of interest in sounding American as I no longer have the necessity of possessing such skill. Yet, I'd l9ike to challenge myself and see how quickly I can go back to where I was while feeling natural, meaning feeling like I'm being _myself._
1- Is there any book you'd recommend I purchase to work on the accent ? 2- Were you doing shadowing as well ? 3- so you basically have to do this till the end of your life, else you lose it ?
Hello I love your video becuase I am not native american speaker and it help me to understand and comprehend and words intonation that is the wost step for thank you for your advice. I you to keep on doing thes videos. From panama
I wonder how much hard work she put in to be cast in big famous series. So many times I have been told I have great feelings but my accent bugs the casting crew. It is frustrating specially that my accent gets worse when I’m stressed. This video is a great help. At least makes me feel confident it is possible to get a role with a pinch of an accent.
Hi, Miss Lisa . I've been watching on your channel for quite a while now and I'm so lucky to have found it . I've been learning a lot from you . You are the best Teacher in English on YT ! speaking english like an american english speaker sometimes it seems to be anyones' dream what makes people get stuck or blocked in their minds because it takes some time to get to the perfection. when what people need is to make themselves be understood among them
Great video 👍🏻 i enjoy watching you and listening your voice it’s soooo clear the pronunciation I mean really good for us trying to learn a second language
I have watched a lot of your videos and observed the way pronunciation the words. I study English alone and I can understand what you're talking about. It would be nice if all English-speaking natives pronounce words like you. Congratulations on the channel. Whenever I have the time I watch.
This is very good for us non-native English speakers. By the way, I'm from Brazil and according to some American friends, I have a more neutral accent. Well, but these tips are priceless.
@@edwardtellez9822 this is how WordTune rewrites his text:. "This is very helpful for those of us who are not native English speakers. I'm from Brazil, and some of my American friends describe me as having a neutral accent. This is a priceless collection of tips, though."

I love your classes teacher! Very interesting video, everytime that I see videos like that, immediately think: why not to take the courses of that teacher, she has a really big experience!
This is, without a doubt, one of the most helpful videos on UA-cam. By the way, this teacher has been blessed with that student, she understands and applies everything that is being told so quickly. That I'm not. I wish I was, at least, a little bit like her. But I don't give up, I keep trying
Muy buenas tardes profesora, estoy encantada con su trabajo de inglés,quiero preguntarle si usted da clases personales. Siendo así como me comunico con usted?.
I am impressed. It was one of the most teaching moment over all your previous videos. What a good reason to keep motivated. I don't know. Maybe it would be a good idea to do more videos like that. No need to be taped with all your casting though haha. It could be with your other regular students. Anyway. Thank sooooo much. It was a priceless experience.

The quote you said Master the rules like a pro so that you can break them like an artist. If we don't use that in this quote it looks more esthetic.
