You’re the one person I actually *trust* when it comes to online influencers. So I can’t wait to see this! I had my first pair of the very original GHD’s about 17 years ago and they just don’t make them like that anymore. Not even the “originals” on their website are the same as the true OG’s! Looking forward to your thoughts ❤
Yes! I still have mine from 15years ago and nothing compares! I could have gotten this wrong but from what I heard when the original ghd creators parted ways, one got the rights to keep the ghd name and the other got the rights to the tech, who went on to create Cloud Nine straighteners. Have yet to try them as mine is still going strong but would be very interested to know if they compare to the original ghd! 👀
I've had my OG GHDS for the same amount of time 😂 a few times I've thought shall I buy a new straightener?! Glad I'm not the only one struggling to part with mine.
Your natural curls are gorgeous! And when you sectioned your hair at 2:44, that half up half down style with the natural texture of your hair looks absolutely beautiful on you! X
oh my gosh, your natural waves are so gorgeous! it really makes you look so unique. as someone with wavy/curly (2a-3a) hair, i see so much potential with it! i'd be so interested in watching you go through your curly hair journey, if you ever decide to try it!
Get yourself a tension comb. It’ll change the game for you when you straighten your hair. It holds the tension to the hair when you pull the iron thru to help straighten faster AND it prevents you from touching your hair while styling so you don’t add more oils to your hair from your hand. It’s fantastic.
I've had my original ghd for 20 years, still work perfectly well, but I've never been one of those people who straighten my hair every day, I maybe use them once every couple of months, but mainly use them to curl my hair ❤
This was so interesting to watch, thank you so much for reviewing these expensive tools so people can make their mind up whether to buy it or not. I love the side by your side you are incredible and my favourite creator. Hope you, James and pinky are doing okay 💗
I have been using the L’Oréal Steampod for a couple of years now and genuinely only need one pass. They are surprisingly good and would never go back to GHD I don’t think. Loved this video though, your opinions are very trustworthy and your natural hair 😮❤
Aah I love your natural hair! It looks so romantic! As a curly girl whose hair looked like yours, mine just keeps getting curlier and healthier the longer I wear it natural (mostly bc I can't be bothered straightening it though!)
I have similar colour and texture as you Soph but thinner and get better and quicker results using a straightening brush that clamps on the strands before you pass, worth a try! It works for me x
Your natural hair is gorgeous! In a serious note, you should ideally spray it and wait for it to be dry. Or spray wet hair then dry and straighten. Also, with small sections you can get a single pass if you use thinner sections and go slowly over each part. 😊
from a stylist , you were following with a brush w the new tool (especially on top) and that’s why it was faster! you’ll have to do less passes if you follow with a brush/thin toothed comb!!! straightening out the hair before applying the heat makes it easier!!
I got the platinums for Christmas, finally replacing my 20 year old ghd’s. I absolutely love them, first time I used them a few people asked if I’d just had my hair done. My hair feels so soft and looks so shiny after I use them. Can’t recommend them enough honestly
Good way to get pin straight hair. Get a rat tail comb but the comb has to have the bristles together run the comb with one hand and the straightener above at the same time. And there you go!!! Pin straight hair that lasts days
I use the Sol de Janeiro hair oil as my heat protection and it doesn't make the sizzling sound! My hair also feels and looks much healthier as a result! 😊
Ugh I’d kill for my natural hair to be like yours soph! 😍 mines neither curly or straight, but an irritating inbetween 😂 also.. I feel you on the grey’s.. I’m 27 & all the sides of my hair are going greyyyy! 🤣❤
Mine was like this after straightening the life out of it for years. Look up what curl type you have and you can probably get it to curl more with some curly girl hacks! My profile picture is super outdated but my hair is now almost out of control curly 😂😂😂 it also helped to tell the hairdresser that I wanted it to curl and getting it cut in a way that supports that
Use the brush the whole time right under Your tool the whole time. This is the reason why the one top side did go well, you did it almost perfect there😂❤️ when you curl it is not necessary, but it is important that is it brushed.
Loved the video...very interesting!....i have used several pairs GHD's in the past that have broken soon after their warranty date...but am currently using my first ever Cloud9 straighteners, had then now for about 7 yrs...still going strong...no different in straightening abilities in my opinion to the GHD's, only they dont break as quickly! 💫
My opinion is exactly the same as yours. I’ve had my Platinum + straighteners since 2019 and I wouldn’t go out and buy these because I have no reason to. I’ve always been happy with GHD products though, I used to use my mum’s original GHDs growing up and they were great, and lasted a good 15 years! Just don’t think these are different or revolutionary enough to warrant needing them unless mine break. Also PS, you natural hair texture is lovely, as someone with similar hair though, I understand it can be difficult to work with.
Your natural hair is amazing on you you are very beautiful !!! Don't damage it even further and try to revive it. When you want your hair curly or wavy leave your natural hair don't curl it with heat.
I actually think the side the new one was used on actually looks significantly nicer after straightening. I dont think its like, worth the money necessarily but i never expected to actually see a real difference in the end result. Its smoother and shinier for suree
Hi Soph, have you heard of the Loreal steam Pod? It's super duper expensive but it's supposed to straighten your hair with water damp or something like that and therefore be more gentle? Haven't tried it myself but saw videos of people with curly hair who really liked it. Lots of love❤ keep doing what you do, cause you are truly one of my favourite UA-camrs.❤
Next time try going a bit slower down each strand, it gives hair time to warm up and you will rarely have to do 2 or 3 passes. I got that advice from a hairdresser and it really works.
Just to give a bit of help, even if unasked for 😅 but if you go more slowly over your first (should be only) pass through your hair and not have multiple, it’s actually far better for your hair and causes far less damage to the hair follicle.
I used to always use my mums straighteners whenever I'd want straight hair, I'm the same as you, I'm curly / wavy naturally but for my birthday last year i got the beauty works x molly mae straighteners, I'm not her biggest follower but they are pretty good if you find them on a sale, i do recommend them :) Also that picture of hagrid pop up made me laugh cos that's how i feel i look when i brush my hair 😂😂
After years of thinking you were supposed to spray heat protectant then use heat tools, I encountered a video saying that you are absolutely supposed to wait for the heat protectant to dry because otherwise you are cooking your hair. I don’t know if they were right. But when I used heat protectant and let it dry before applying heat my hair certainly felt better. But again I do not know, I have no idea. But I will either not use any heat protection or let it dry before heat tools now.
my hair looks exactly like yours when air dried, it gets frizzy and I don`t like it. I just bought the Chronos and will have to practice doing the curls.
I don't do anything with my sad hair anymore! But having long hair and a bit wavy plus blonde highlights, it would take me 40 minutes to 50 mins to straighten my hair back in the day!! And I had a good flat iron!
This was so helpful! I’ve only had cheaper straighteners and mine are dying after a good 5 odd years so I was going to invest in ghd’s but couldn’t work out whether the newer ones were worth it!
Its perfectly normal for your hair to sizzle of you sprayed heat protectant becasue that means its working its burning the product and not the hair it would be doing that to the hair you just cant hear it when you dont have heat protectant!!
I've always wondered whether I should invest in a pair of GHD's, but I have a pair of Babyliss elegance straighteners that I've had for around 15 years or more, and they're still in perfect condition. I manage to straighten or curl my whole head of hair in around 10 minutes and they still leave my hair really shiny. I guess I'm still on the fence.
Honestly think the new ones were faster just because of that, they are new. And if your old ones are 5-6 years old, yes, they will generally be slower because they’ve been used a lot. But I agree. If there isn’t anything majorly wrong with your original straighteners there’s no need to switch them out.
It straightens better when you use a brush, just using your fingers doesn’t pull the strands straight. I could be wrong, but I think you used the brush more on the second side.
Your natural hair is beeeautiful Soph! Also, I have been trying to learn how to curl my hair with straightners for like 8 years so I'm hoping this video helps me, I'm 28 and don't know why I find it so hard?? Blaming it on being a leftie.
I have this and the platinum plus and I like the new one more because it's not pulling at my hair and my style lasts longer with more shine and it takes way less time.
You have to wait the heat protectant to dry or blow dry your hair, before u go and straighten it!!!! I would suggest always blow drying your hair before
Soph I literally thought this was an ad for a waver and the curly side was the result! Your natural hair is so beautiful omg
I think so too. I know she doesn’t like it, but it’s glorious.
Your natural curls are so pretty
You’re the one person I actually *trust* when it comes to online influencers. So I can’t wait to see this! Mine is 16 years old and I am DREADING the day it dies. I love it so much and I know that it is irreplaceable 😂
I've had my OG GHDS for the same amount of time 😂 a few times I've thought shall I buy a new straightener?! Glad I'm not the only one struggling to part with mine.
Have mine for 15 years and it was second hand 🎉🎉
exactly! soph really is *honest* and *real* with her reviews!
I know I don't have a say in this, because it is your hair after all, but OMG, I LOVE YOUR NATURAL HAIR SO MUCH 😍😍
Your natural curls are gorgeous! And when you sectioned your hair at 2:44, that half up half down style with the natural texture of your hair looks absolutely beautiful on you! X

Love your natural curls on you ❤
Here’s hoping your preference changes, and you embrace your natural texture. Your waves/ curls are GLORIOUS. 🤩
Soooo love your natural texture!!!!!!
I know you dislike your natural hair, but I love it! Always a good day when you post.
Soph your natural curls are so beautiful!😍

Love your natural hair, Soph!!! Also this rhinestone eye look is so cute, I totally want to try it!
thank you!! and definitely give it a go, it’s super easy 😊
i have never had a ghd hair tool, yet i found this video super interesting, i do like hair videos from you, your natural hair is sooooo gorgeous
I love your natural hair! Your natural hair is beautiful!😊

Was having a bad day, now I can sleep happy after watching this video! Thank you Soph for making our days better!
Great video soph 😊 I’ve always loved my GHDs, I’ve had them for 20 years and still going strong ☺️
Aah I love your natural hair! It looks so romantic! As a curly girl whose hair looked like yours, mine just keeps getting curlier and healthier the longer I wear it natural (mostly bc I can't be bothered straightening it though!)

You’re one of the most honest UA-camrs on this platform 🫶🏻 Soph your vids are my comforts 🥹
Girl, your hair looks so pretty with curly hair…❤
You actually look so cute with your natural hair🥰
i don’t know if you read your comments soph but thank you so much for always posting when we need you
I do read them! thank you for watching I hope you’re okay 🥺❤️
soph your natural curls are gorgeous !!!!!!
I’ve started using Avon heat protect. I have natural Afro hair and it makes using straighteners so much better. I also use it when styling my wigs. Xx
Your natural hair is gorgeous! In a serious note, you should ideally spray it and wait for it to be dry. Or spray wet hair then dry and straighten. Also, with small sections you can get a single pass if you use thinner sections and go slowly over each part. 😊

She did the same on the other side though?
But don’t you need heat protector before ?
Your natural hair is so beautiful, your breaking my heart by straighting it 😭
I got the platinums for Christmas, finally replacing my 20 year old ghd’s. I absolutely love them, first time I used them a few people asked if I’d just had my hair done. My hair feels so soft and looks so shiny after I use them. Can’t recommend them enough honestly
Ooh I love that!! 😊 they are great straighteners
Good way to get pin straight hair. Get a rat tail comb but the comb has to have the bristles together run the comb with one hand and the straightener above at the same time. And there you go!!! Pin straight hair that lasts days
As if I got a GHD ad before the video!
I also LOVE. love how your natural hair looks!!
Even damaged your natural hair is gorgeous!!
Your natural hair is literally gorgeous
You're natural hair is beautiful literally looks like you used a waver on it 😍 xxx
I use the Sol de Janeiro hair oil as my heat protection and it doesn't make the sizzling sound! My hair also feels and looks much healthier as a result! 😊
Your natural hair is so gorgeous! 🥹♥️♥️
Ur natural curls are sooo beautiful!!!!!
Ugh I’d kill for my natural hair to be like yours soph! 😍 mines neither curly or straight, but an irritating inbetween 😂 also.. I feel you on the grey’s.. I’m 27 & all the sides of my hair are going greyyyy! 🤣❤
My hair is also a annoying in between. My natural hair is not curly or straight.😀

I always think your wavy hair looks so great!!
So want to see the natural curls in their full glory 😂😂
I’m gonna have to try it one day 😂 I used to leave it curly for school when I was younger but now I never do!
Oh my god.. your curls are the most beautiful curls!! Your hair is my goal juat like that😭😍

Hiii sophhhh if you see this I just wanted to say how amazing you are! I love your videos sooo much!!
if you ever do decide to go on a curly hair journey i would LOVE for it to be a mini series on your channel🥰🥰
I actually think the side the new one was used on actually looks significantly nicer after straightening. I dont think its like, worth the money necessarily but i never expected to actually see a real difference in the end result. Its smoother and shinier for suree

I actually really love the way your straight hair and bangs look! Makes you look even more like Sabrina carpenter in her early days 😍
Your natural hair is beautiful, I actually thought you'd curled it!
Your natural hair looks sooo pretty🥲💛🫶🏻
YASS THE DAY IS BETTER SOF HAS POSTED
*soph
I love your natural hair!!
Next time try going a bit slower down each strand, it gives hair time to warm up and you will rarely have to do 2 or 3 passes. I got that advice from a hairdresser and it really works.

I just found out a few minutes ago that we have the same birthday !! happy birthday week !
I used to always use my mums straighteners whenever I'd want straight hair, I'm the same as you, I'm curly / wavy naturally but for my birthday last year i got the beauty works x molly mae straighteners, I'm not her biggest follower but they are pretty good if you find them on a sale, i do recommend them :)
Also that picture of hagrid pop up made me laugh cos that's how i feel i look when i brush my hair 😂😂

I give my hair a quick blast with the hairdryer on a cold setting so heat protectant doesn’t sizzle!
To be honest, I thought your natural hair looked stunning, and really suited you. Xx
my hair looks exactly like yours when air dried, it gets frizzy and I don`t like it. I just bought the Chronos and will have to practice doing the curls.
I find curls with straighteners go flat in 20 minutes though so always prefer curling irons.
Thank you for the video, Soph, I was wanting this review! And btw, you are so beautiful and I love u! ❤
Soph please do a curly hair routine so we can see how your hair looks ❤
Do I naturally have pin straight hair and never used hair straighter before… yes.. did I watch the whole video .. absolutely 🥰
I don't do anything with my sad hair anymore! But having long hair and a bit wavy plus blonde highlights, it would take me 40 minutes to 50 mins to straighten my hair back in the day!! And I had a good flat iron!
My hair dresser told me to spray my dry hair with heat protectant brush it though and then wait for the heat protectant to dry and then straighten etc
I have fine curly hair. Ive never wanted straight hair or i look like ive got 3 hairs. Did i immediately watch this video? Yes absolutely 😂❤
This was so helpful! I’ve only had cheaper straighteners and mine are dying after a good 5 odd years so I was going to invest in ghd’s but couldn’t work out whether the newer ones were worth it!
Girl!! Your hair is sooooooo pretty! Leave as is!! You look like Sabrina carpenter with it!
Its perfectly normal for your hair to sizzle of you sprayed heat protectant becasue that means its working its burning the product and not the hair it would be doing that to the hair you just cant hear it when you dont have heat protectant!!
Ooh okay thank you! that puts my mind at ease 😂
Curly hair suits you so much ❤
My ghd's are the same ones I got 20 years ago. It's insane x
I’m the same I only ever curl my hair with straighteners! So quick and easy!

If there isn’t anything majorly wrong with your original straighteners there’s no need to switch them out.
u should try the dyson straightener to be a less damage version of a straighter
It straightens better when you use a brush, just using your fingers doesn’t pull the strands straight. I could be wrong, but I think you used the brush more on the second side.
Your natural hair is beeeautiful Soph! Also, I have been trying to learn how to curl my hair with straightners for like 8 years so I'm hoping this video helps me, I'm 28 and don't know why I find it so hard?? Blaming it on being a leftie.
Your curly hair is pretty
This Platinum Hair straightener so amazing
I have this and the platinum plus and I like the new one more because it's not pulling at my hair and my style lasts longer with more shine and it takes way less time.
You were using your brush on the top section. Helps smooth your hair quicker. 😊
The top section of your hair is finer so maybe that is why it’s working better? ❤
Only saying this because usually it is more compounded than the bottom!
Can you make a more in detail video of you curling your hair with a straightener, I love how it came out! Mine never seems to work the same 😢x
I still got Chronos’ ancestors straighteners after 15 years 😮 so definitely intrigued how technology has changed 😂
Use your heat protect before you dry it you are risking snapping your hair when straightening on damp hair
omg i LOOOVVVEEE the eye look😍😍😍😍!!!
You have to wait the heat protectant to dry or blow dry your hair, before u go and straighten it!!!! I would suggest always blow drying your hair before
I still have my ghd pink diamond hair straightener 😂 use it all the time and works great
I got some Gold ones for Christmas so I’d love to know how all three compare 😂
Also I rarely catch your videos this early yaaay!
