I’ve had ghd straightener in the past but it died I then had a cloud nine and now I’m currently using a Remington. I can definitely see a difference in the amount of damage my hair has been done and the amount of times I have to go over sections because I have very thick coloured hair. I think this is also to do the plates and the technology. This video has defiantly helped me as I’m looking to repurchase another ghd and I will for sure get the platinum + thanks to your recommendation, thank you!

I really love the platinum+ straightners, love the look of them (especially the white ones) & I was so excited to order them but after reading through hundreds of reviews on each styler, doing my research, I’ve found the original straightener wins.
I’ve seen loads & loads of bad 1 star reviews on the platinum talking about a ‘red ring of death’
Its apparently a fault when the straightners die & nothing can be done? It’s happening to loads of people just outside the 2yr warranty. In comparison, people reviewing the original have stated they’ve had their old one for 8/9/10yrs.
Interesting video. I’m still so torn. My heart wants the platinums by my sensible head is telling me go with the original 😅

They straighten my hair perfectly, which is what I wanted at the end of the day. They might not be as pretty as the platinum, but I felt it was the safest option & don’t regret it. I have the security to know these should see me through many years to come.

My hair is long very porous with the tendency to be very dry at the ends but goes greasy at the roots. would you advise against the Gold? a bit put off by people saying the ioriginals are best? 🙃

I have just ordered the platinum +. Its going to be my first ghd. Hopefully it will be ok as I heard when doing curls it tugs the hair a little. But I thought as I am not planning to get more in the future I might as well get the newest technology as well as protecting my hair as much as I can

Wonderful video as always. Would you recommend a good heat protectant. I use Aveda brilliant shampoo and conditioner currently, but I have no great loyalty to the brand. I don’t really want something with a lot of conditioning in it either. Btw, I have long hair (a little past shoulder length).

I bought a GHD Pink Diamond flat iron in 2015. It has done a great job over the years and still works but I’m looking for a newer model now. Do you happen to know if this iron came out before the gold or after? I have my eye on the platinum but understand it is a bit more bulky to handle. Thank you for the explanations!

Thank you for your video. Can I ask which one you would personally recommend for fine hair? I'm concerned of the fact the platinum plus plates don't meet, and how this may affect the straightening of very fine thin hair. Thanks x

    • @KristyJoan
      @KristyJoan 3 роки тому +12

Okies I get this a lot! Plates aren't necessarily designed to touch 100% for a few reason!
      1. ceramic and other metals expand when they are hot, so touching plates together when they're cold have no real indication of this
      2. most premium straighteners have "floating plates" which means the plates move around to glide through hair easier, this again can't really be seen by touching plates together
      3. usually plates will touch on one side and not the other when cold- this is because once your put hair between the plates, you'll have a different angle (approx 5 degrees acute). It's near impossible to judge plates that don't touch just by looking at them so I wouldn't consider this as a basis of buying a straightener.
Personally, I use the Platinum + for fine hair as it's more gentle than the others! Hope this helps!

I would definitely recommend to try a ceramic iron that has a plate on it: the yellow plates of the Original GHDs don't have a coating & cause the pulling! The GHD Gold series or Cloud 9 Original might be the best to try next :)

    Thank you for this video.
I have had several straighteners in my life. From all kinds of brands.
As the latest I bought my first GHD back in december 2018, so I have had it for 2 years now.
It is a GHD Gold V. It has actually been okay using it, but damn I have used hours straightening my thick, frizzy hair with it
I have been so frustrated with it taking so long. It always needs like 4-5 passes to get fully straightened.
So yesterday I just upgraded to GHD Platinum Plus from GHD V Gold. Havent recieved it yet, but I really hope it will do something good to my hair.
As earlier mentioned, my hair is really thick and frizzy, So are you absolute sure that It will work much better for me than the GHD gold V? I mean I dont have like afro hair, but it definetly frizzy as one.
    Thank you in advance.
