Heard on a podcast he did that Neil has written over 700 songs over the years. Some songwriters are lucky to get a CD's worth of songs written every couple years as good as they might be!
He was 73 when he performed this. Think about it -73 and still effortlessly hitting the notes, pitch perfect and keeping the audience in the palm of his hand. Now THAT’S talent!
He was classically trained. There is an album called Classically Sedaka where he put words to music of the great composers like Chopin and Schumann etc. It's excellent.
It's a bold move to get up there and do it by yourself without a backing band, but this guy still sounds beautiful at his age, still joyful perfection in his performance. This song has moved me for decades!
Maybe he doesn’t want to pay the $10,000 per table price of the hall to be inducted. The rrhof is a sham anyway, full of people who should never be there.
Strolling along country roads with my baby It starts to rain, it begins to pour Without an umbrella we're soaked to the skin I feel a shiver run up my spine I feel the warmth of her hand in mine Oh, I hear laughter in the rain, Walking hand in hand with the one I love Oh, how I love the rainy days and the happy way I feel inside After a while we run under a tree I turn to her and she kisses me There with the beat of the rain on the leaves Softly she breathes and I close my eyes Sharing our love under stormy skies Oh, I hear laughter in the rain, Walking hand in hand with the one I love Oh, how I love the rainy days and the happy way I feel inside I feel the warmth of her hand in mine Oh, I hear laughter in the rain, Walking hand in hand with the one I love Oh, how I love the rainy days and the happy way I feel inside Oh, I hear laughter in the rain, Walking hand in hand with the one I love Oh, how I love the rainy days and the happy way I feel inside
I heard thus timeless song when he first sang it in the 1970's. Flawless melody and such a beautiful spirit this man has. One fir the ages. Thank you Neil Sedaka fir this beautiful song and for your musicianship. 100.
I was there for this very rendition. Back in 2012 I did some audience warm ups for Loose Women. On one of the days, Alan Titchmarsh’s show was going out live at 3pm - Also at the hallowed and beloved London Studios. And I heard that one of the guests was Neil. WELL. I just had to. So I did. And got a seat just ten feet from the stage. The performance he gave was just HEAVENLY. When I watch someone with immense talent - For some reason… I cry. I can’t explain it. I realised a minute into the song - I had tears streaming down my cheeks. A bit embarrassing as I had complete strangers sat either side of me. WHAT A MAN.
A few years ago I walked past the Brill Building in NYC and suddenly it dawned on me that Neil Sedaka and Carol King once walked through those doors! Chills!
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon in Germany and my “girlfriend” and I were walking to the library. We were both in 7th grade and in love. We went to the library as an excuse to hang out. We carved our initials on one of the desks with our pens and drew a heart around it with - I love you. Then we went to a record store and bought this record on a 45 single. This became our song and I can literally still feel her hand in mine and feel the raindrops falling on me whenever I hear this song. Her name was Manuela O. and I can still hear her laughter in the rain after all these decades! Thank you Manuela for your love, friendship and a perfect afternoon. I miss this time so much...
All that i can think about is my mother thank you mom for that beautiful music you always played at home and Neil Sedaka was part of that collection i love you mom and i always will
Neil after all these year still has got it going on...ive seen him perform once back in..gosh its been so long ago...and in this video it says 2012.. he sounds as great now ..i hope to see him soon again
Oh how I remember driving on Inter State 40 across the plains of Oklahoma listening to the FM radio. And this song came on.. So beautiful and easy to listen to. All my life the radio is where you learn how to sing. And we tried everything that came on including this song. Back then you sang what you knew.. And now I appreciate the genius of Neil Sadaka timeless song..If it don’t make you feel like you’re outdoors whether walking, riding or sitting this song has that magical appeal.
I remember the line " I turn to her and she kisses me " as striking me funny in '74 as I first assumed it was sung by a woman, also . - Check out " Bad Blood " , an even bigger hit for him of that time.
Apparently, other people made the same mistake, including a member of the Fifth Dimension. When I was five and first heard Simply Red, I thought Mick Hucknall was a woman.
Wow factor for certain. Neil is a great song writer and singer.Yes Neil you have gave us extremely happy times listening to your wonderful music. A great pianist too. Thank you so very much.Wishing Neil all that is good plus so much happiness.
This is an old school songwriter. Don't think most pop singers today can even come close to this kind of talent.
Jason Phillips beautifully said and i 101% agree
I agree.
My mother felt he wrote the best melodies since Irving Berlin.
Agreed

No lip sync, or auto-tune...just talent.
The only singer who can take a rainy day, and turn it into pure sunshine!
Still has that golden voice. That was special
CoventGardenSinger as they said " the gold never rust ".
This man looks so happy playing his song. No wonder he chose doing this to make a living. Thanks for the memories.
how brilliant does he sound for a 72 yr old man? he still sounds like he did over 40 yrs ago if not better.
He is wonderful
He totally sells it here, without needing the ensemble accompaniment. His singing and his piano playing are superb!
He was classically trained. There is an album called Classically Sedaka where he put words to music of the great composers like Chopin and Schumann etc. It's excellent.
Much love for Neil Sedaka. I grew up with this song here in S. Texas. God love you, Mr. Sedaka.
Neil's voice remains virtually unchanged. He sounds great here!
It's a bold move to get up there and do it by yourself without a backing band, but this guy still sounds beautiful at his age, still joyful perfection in his performance. This song has moved me for decades!
Wonderful performance! Neil Sedaka is one of the greats!
Elizabeth Motes Adoro as musicas dele Neir Sedaka
Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame... ITS TIME PEOPLE
Was born hearing this song/his voice, and heard on the way home on AM radio. He is one of the greats, pure talent and magic!
What a wonderful, talented man he is.
Grew up with this song . Transports me back in time .
この曲の甘いメロディーが大好きです。(i'm Japanese)
Fasinating alphabet. Looks so weird to an English person !
A very talented man. I hope his retirement is filled with laughter.
Terrific. Hope you live forever Neil Sedaka.
+Ken Wong me too. i wish we we all could so we can listen to this man forever
If they can put contemporary (in comparison) RAP artists in the Rock Hall of Fame, they can certainly put Neil Sedaka in the Rock Hall of Fame!
Maybe he doesn’t want to pay the $10,000 per table price of the hall to be inducted. The rrhof is a sham anyway, full of people who should never be there.
This is Sedaka’s favourite song. He is the whole package...the real deal. Wonderful .

WHAT A MAN.
Every note is on his right place.
And his music exists and tells all by itself.
70歳を超えてこのクオリティは凄いです。
Thank You Mr. Sedaka, I haven't cried as much as when I first heard this song.
His voice hasn't changed at all since his early performances..boy he can still belt them out ..
This is music talent. Not many singers like Neil these days. That song was a big hit in the 70s. Huge hit!
How this brings back happy memories of my youth... great to see Neil Sedaka is still performing so well.... Thank you.
