  • Tank size up from 9.5L to 13L means a better range between gassing up. I'm expecting to go from about 150 miles range to 200 miles range (240 km to 320 km). Seat height is 820 mm which is about a half an inch lower than the older 835mm seat. 5 inch TFT display will be nice. Mirrors are upgraded. Plenty of other upgrades too, but these address some of the main complaints of the older models.
Great package when you consider it still has the Easy Shift (quickshifter) and adjustable suspension. I don't really care about the added Rain Mode for 2024, but I'll take it. This was a very approachable bike for newer riders already, but with the upgrades it is even more approachable.
The article I mentioned, which I think is a nice break down of the various upgrades is here.

I'm not gonna lie. I chose the Svartpilen because I can just stare at it all day. I smile at it every time I walk through my garage ( I really do ) - I LOVE the way it looks. I changed to bar-end mirrors and that's it. I love it stock. I love old scramblers and the 2023 captures that aesthetic ( and the spirit ) perfectly.
And I'm SO glad I moved on the 2023. They were sold out everywhere, and I finally found one 8 hours away and it had 45 miles on it. I nabbed it immediately! Partially, because the change was so dramatic from the earlier version, that I was worried they'd change too much in the 2024 - and they did.
I'd love a bigger gas tank... But nothing else on this new one appeals to me.
I admit - I'm not typical. I got that bike 99% because it looks so dope, and 1% because it was cheap and I could put it on my Visa. I'm the basic b*tch rider that puts my girlfriend on the back and we go for short, chill rides to a restaurant or to the scenic parkway (NC) and I drive it like a grandma. I drive it like its a one cylinder bike. The 2023 Svartpilen might be my favorite thing ever.
It's not a long distance rider, and there's a 15 minute drive to REALLY beautiful stuff, where I live, so I got a trailer hitch mounted carrier for $275 on Amazon and it works like a charm. Svartpilens are so light that I can just throw it on the back of my pickup ( you can't even feel it ) and we can drive to any beautiful place and I take it off in about 90 sec.
In the spring, I'm buying a Harley 833 from an old Vietnam vet that I check in on all the time. It's mostly cool because it's his... ( I'm not a Harley guy ). But that bike will be a much smoother, much more powerful street bike, fit for longer rides.
I'm looking forward to having choices, but I bet 9/10 times I'll keep reaching for the Husky keys... I love that thing. And the 2023 style is my jam.

Hey man, don't feel bad because looks and price were the biggest factor for me. I'm a car guy at heart but my closest friends ride too. I like having things that many don't, so while some felt it was underpowered (then changed their mind after trying it) the fact that it is rare in my parts, good price, low insurance and again, sexy and unique, win win, I'll take its quirks.

If we can remove the wind shield, it might look even better.

In Thailand I could only get my hands on the Svartpilen 2021, and I absolutely love it. This 2024 model does look fantastic and makes all the right upgrades. Huskvarna really do design great looking bikes

I prefer the older ones too. The short-length seat, tall seating, and futuristic look make me stare at it all day. I wish the old one had a large tank, a round TFT, and powerful low end. But i got used to it and ride 1000s of kilometres across plains and mountains without breaking a sweat

I have the 2023 and I love my Svartpilen. But I do think Husqvarna made some great upgrades on the 2024 model. I think it looks good

I Just ordered a flyscreen for 2021 model. I really enjoy freeway riding, so I'd like a bit more wind protection, but really don't want to change the looks really. So now I wait 2 weeks for delivery.
To me it also makes economic sense to add slight upgrades, like bar-ends, fuel-x, but owning a brand new bike is so desirable.

It's not nitpicking to point at a serious problem like the turning signal indicator. That shit is a SERIOUS problem. (Imo 😂) Great initial thoughts

How this motorcycle looks was a game changer for me. The new model i thinks it's just not as pretty. I have a 250, was waiting to this model, but i will buy the old model, it will be cheaper as an extra.

I like the styling of both models. Think the new bike looks a little beefier and more rugged. A tad less of the supermoto influence than before.
The slightly bigger look, fuel tank, and engine... are actually genius from Husqvarna. For a lot of owners, this isn't a stepping-stone to bigger bikes, this can be their lifetime model. From that view, the changes making it more substantial will outweigh the toy aspects in the sales department.

if the time comes, do you think we can upgrade our tank capacity to the latest 13L? (curious question)

Excellent review! I actually like this bike and to me is still looks amazing! Very unique. The upgrades are nice. So, you would not consider upgrading to this 2024? I like the two bike idea. Thanks

We’ll see. Would definitely consider the 2024 but probably holding out for a street triple or the 901 (assuming it is a thing Husky will ship; still just hearing rumors and “spy photos”).
(Edit: and of course now it is official, but the 801 off of the older 790 engine rather than a 901)

@ridingwithgravity401 Thanks! I would like the 901 too. Would you consider a used 701? I have the 701. There are a few out there. Thanks! Great videos!

@p-dub7422 Yeah, I love the 701 too. Great bike! I’ve definitely thought about that too. I like the Suzuki Katana and CFMOTO 700CL-X Sport as well. Leaning Street Triple 765 RS for bike 2. So many great options out there.

@@ridingwithgravity401I’ve had a triumph tiger 800 as my first bike the last couple years, the triple engine is simply fantastic. I think you’d be really happy with the 765 rs. If I ever sell my tiger I’d want a speed triple just to keep a triumph triple to ride. The 765rs won’t be easy to outgrow either, probably a very long term bike with lots of power.

Like the flyscreen for it, but not sure if it will actually be stock. They advertised the last few years with the add ons. Also hoping the new tanks and radiator guards will fit my ‘22

    • @ridingwithgravity401
      @ridingwithgravity401  6 місяців тому

Very true; wouldn't be surprised if that fly screen was an add-on. (But it is mentioned alongside the skid plate so I'm leaning toward guessing it will come with the fly screen on for the Svart)

    • @nikoladoes3d

That would suck. It seems like I am one of a few people who likes the look of new model and one of the reason is flyscreen.

@@nikoladoes3d I like the improvements they made mechanically, except moving the mono shock, but they gave up the neo-retro look so now it’s starting to look like old Hondas/yamahas from the 90’s. They’re not special anymore

      @ridingwithgravity401  6 місяців тому +1

The flyscreen is mentioned alongside the skid plate on the Svartpilen in the description. We'll have to see how it ends up, but I suspect the Svartpilen will come with the flyscreen on, and the Vitpilen will not.

@@DWplowman1 I do agree that they lost their some uniqueness with this series. Especially vitpilen.
While I like a lot the look of 2022/2023 version of svartpilen, and I was gonna buy one before they run out of the stock, I feel with many improvements that 2024 model comes with , it might be worth getting it regardless of some aesthetic differences.

I like this new design except for two things.
1 I enjoyed the wheel hugger license place placement
2 wish it had tubeless wheels
In my eyes, everything else is fantastic 🤌

My current street bikes are an XR650R and a CRF230L.
Figure that the Svartpilen will replace them both.
Most of my riding is dirt on a KTM300XCW so the Svartpilen won't see much in the way of off road.
Couldn't decide at first if I loved the look of the Husky or hated it. The 23 was on the dealers floor but when I saw the redesigned tail of the 24, and the longer stroke crank I was sold. Kinda goes against principle to pay full boat, but that's the way it went. Even so the price sill blows me away.
