You read it right - Jeff is coming at you with 10 reasons not to have a beard.
10) Maybe you don't need it. There are many ways to achieve your desired look, and it's entirely possible that you don't need a beard to reach it.
9) Regulations. Maybe you're military, maybe your religion dictates you not have a beard, or maybe your work environment mandates you stay completely shaven. In any case, sometimes it's out of your hands and that's ok.
8) Skip the trend. Beards are trending at the moment, and some people fight trends simply to set themselves apart.
7) Not wanting to be identified by it. It's cool if you feel like a beard might not be the calling card you want - everyone is different and you have to find your unique calling card.
6) Stigma. Similar to tattoos, some folks just don't like beards, period. If you decide to skip the stigma by skipping the beard, that's totally fine.
5) Doesn't fit your personality. Bearded guys are usually considered more masculine and dominant, and completely shaven guys are usually deemed more sociable and more agreeable.
4) Doesn't fit your style. Everyone is shooting for a different look, and you have to find the facial hair style (among other things) that work best for you.
3) You or your partner just don't dig it. They aren't for everyone, and it's possible that you - or your significant other - won't love your beard.
2) They take work. Face it guys, beards take maintenance. If it's not for you, skip it and don't bother with the extra care associated with facial hair.
1) Genetics. Your beard is determined by your genetics, and if it's just not happening for you, embrace what you have - or what you don't - and find just the right style for your genetic predisposition. - Навчання та стиль
my wife dint like for me to grow a beard, i told her well, it is what it is.
And If you leave me because of my beard, than that's as shallow as you can get.
Because now that you don't have the perfect body you used to have before our 2 children, i am still here loving you like always.
Now she loves my beard.
+ Happy Farmer lmao SAVAGE
"it is what it is."
😂
Keep doing what you want to do. It's your body
Savage dude! But then she wouldn't have liked you if you were a push over and shaved.
Happy Farmer Hahahahaha!!!!
the reason I don't grow beard because one side of my face is like bear and another side is like fish
same here man
You mean a patchy beard?
+Norbert Rivera super weirdly patchy
Ok I remember when I was in the twenties I was patchy too but once the years continue in my life those patchies were cover with hair that was approximately in age 33 or 35 years old.So if you are in the twenties you better be patient.
Norbert Rivera my entire family is like that
beards are not a trend, men were made to grow beards
it is a trend
Callahan LaRoy It's mostly a follow nature trend.
Dreaming On 6 tell that to the Koreans
Thanks largely to the fake sudeo intellectual hipsters ,they basically turned it into a trend.
You're exactly right brother that's why we are able to grow one. And women can't.
I grow mine for myself not for anyone else. I feel it's the natural thing for a man to do.
I think that's one of the most needed videos around. As much as I love beards and I believe they make the world a better place, it's important to understand that not everybody likes them and not everybody wants them and that even you you want a like them, you can have them! Brilliant video Jeff!!!
growing one has been one of the most challenging things ive done for my body. I need the motivation.
how old were you when you could grow a full beard?
Quite a video considering this is a Beard channel. Beardbrand presents the viewpoint over the other side of the fence very well.
We understand that sometimes beards are transitional an it's ok. What really matters is the guy is becoming the man he wants to be - whether that's bearded or not bearded.
Jeff, I envy your beard genetics!!!
Yeah, most of us do! It is one majestic beard!
-Zach
Not wanting to be a part of a trend is a good point. I've had beard before it got trendy, but now that every other trend clown hipster seems to have a beard and some people associate having a beard as being a hipster, I kinda want to shave mine of.
You can barely call any of these actual reasons.
Some important tips to keep in mind. Thanks heaps Jeff, its good to see things from the other perspectives every now and then.
Glad you dug it!
-Zach
I'm 19 and I've had a beard since I was 12. Meaning.. I started to get thick hair on my face that wasn't peach fuzz. I shave my beard to around 6-7mm every 3 weeks or so, because I have some parts that haven't grown in and I feel like it might look too patchy, and the "awkward phase" seems like it'd be difficult to get through, do you think I can even grow a full luscious and glorious beard? Like.. am I even old enough?
MrDeeb8 I am 20 and is mine is not over yet.
can you make a video of sideburns with long beard what donyou do and what kinda trim you ask for when ykubgo to a barber.
Funny thing about Number Two: I learned more about hair care when I had a long beard and shaven head than when I had hair on the top of my head.
You have the exact beard I'm working on growing right now! The problem is my beard is a lot more coarse and especially my moustache hairs are thicker and under my nose I don't know why but they want to grow directly out like parallel to the ground. You seem to have a finer type of beard hair which I wish I had 'cos I imagine it is easier to control and it just looks neater.
Beards are a gift from the gods. Don't go beardless!
TraceguyRune Damn, straight.
So because i want to serve my country im a bitch. because you cant have one in the military
I must thank my ancestors
Right brother.
I love the #2 maintenance aspect of it. It's like loving and caring after a pet.
I prefer to keep my full beard because it makes me feel like a man and more masculine, I don't like clean shaven because it makes me look like a baby and gets me less attraction so I prefer to keep my beard.
Cool video, I have been saving and getting my beard done at the barber the last 6 months, I like it but not sure that it's for me, i'm sure i will get back to having a beard again though. 🧔✨
how old is your beard on this video?
If bearded men are seen as aggressive, and clean shaven men are seen as sociable, what happens if you have stubble, or what if you rotate between clean shaven and bearded?
great vid Jeff
I don't care about trend.. but I have a kid face.. so... beard mode on!
Beards shouldn’t be compared to tattoos. One is natural, and the other is a body augmentation.
From a scriptural viewpoint, one was commanded as a standard in representation of God’s holiness (which means cleanness), and the other was commanded against.
Beards are natural. And what is natural always seeks to normalize itself. This is why beards constantly fight against men who shave - the natural body is trying to normalize you and make you natural. With tattoos on the other hand - the body is constantly fighting to get rid of it and push it out of the body, because they’re unnatural and the body knows this - even if the mind does not.
Fair enough. Apples to Oranges, I suppose.
- Jack
The first time I shaved off my beard was because of reason No. 7. This can get realy annoying
"like baby face....shave off the peach fuzz *or whatever you guys do*"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂⚰
He was throwing some major shade :D
I forgot how good of a beard this dude grows. Looking sharp, Jeff!
Wow, this vid was great! I don't think some people realize or appreciate the amount of maintenance that goes into a well groomed beard. It's like a relationship; sometimes I love it, sometimes I wanna choke the shit outta it, and get rid of it lol. Also, I hate being referred to as "That guy with the beard".
I'm able to grow a goatee and a light mustache so hopefully in time I am able to grow to my full potential. A lot of good points in this video to make people aware!
The last time I thought I was over having a beard, I shaved it off completely yet immediately regretted it. Much to my surprise, coworkers and friends actually said I looked much better with a beard, so I grew it back. At the end of the day, it's your face and you have to do what makes you happy.
awesome video, but that one stray hair on his right side in the back was sooo distracting haha xD
Not exactly related, but what advice would you give for someone growing a full beard from a goatee ?
don't shave , oil and patience oh and trim your goatee too match the length of the rest
I'd say once the sides have grown out a bit, I would trim the goatee so it matches and fades into the full beard and after that let it grow as usual.
Ya, the in between phase will be a hybrid beard called a Messy Goat. It's a cool look. Let it fill in then, over time you can gradually trim down the goatee.
Im growing my beard for myself, I don't care what others thinks about me.
That's a great outlook when growing a beard
- Jack
Right brother.
Pep me trajo a qui
Buon,
where is your new videos?
I miss them!
He's got some in the works as we speak!
-Zach
+Law Duarte it's posting on the 25th.
Beardbrand Thank you
1 reason to grow a beard: No shaving.
I'm giving it another go most I ever did was like 2 months or 3. I'm aiming for 6 months.
Woo! Let us know how things progress!
-Zach
It has taken me a while to go ahead and grow a longer, and what I consider to be trendy, beard. I don't like looking like the majority. It was maybe two summers ago when I noticed many doing the full, long beard; however, I only appreciated the tailored beard. It was easy to distinguish the "hey, people like this so I'm going to do it" beard from the well thought out, styled beard.
I don't meant to be obnoxious about it, but I think what helps with being patient and seeing it out is to actually care about the style and be genuine with your intentions, rather than doing it because it's cool and helps you "look like a man."
Couldn't agree with you more. -Parker
main problem with having a beard for me is when it comes to grooming and shaping and getting ocd that everything is perfectly semetrical, dont get me wrong i love beards but i do think a look such as the beardstache is far easier to maintain if you havent got the safest hands with a pair of scissors
I hear ya man, we can all tend to get a little OCD with our beards! Maybe try a beard trimmer, and just make those trims and shape-ups more subtle. The good news is that it's just hair so it will always grow back!
-Zach
Jeff, your beard still looks so dark! There's got to be some Just For Men in there still, yes? Awesome video as always, guys.
some years before i didn't had a lot of facial hair, and i trim my hair every 2 days (because it grows so fast). This last year i have more facial hair and i like (for the moment) how it looks after weak, then i cut it all.
I think in 6 months to 1 year i could grow a beard i like. i can't wait but i have to. ^^
same here but with hair :/
The only thing that takes me awhile is picking these skin flakes under my beard on the surface of my skin, i just grab a finger full of hair pull my cheek out and dig in there and gently scrape skin flakes off with a tip of a knife, its mainly around my chin area, its very time consuming and annoying
+Jake Boss look into getting an Clarisonic Alpha Fit. That could help with exfoliation while in the shower.
That new intro music yes!!!!!!
Thumbs up video!~John
Thanks John!
-Zach
It's your reason #1? Check out the minox beard spot. We're growing beards from little to nothing on cheeks.
agree. guys go and check it out. it really helps
last time a asked for a video, I was called a tw at by someone. you have an awesome beard. i have goof beard genetics also. my thing is always even cheek lines. it's my own thing. I'm my worst judge. peace and more, beard on dude.
And beard on to you, sir!
-Zach
where I live not many people keep beards and if a beard isn't hanging I don't count it as a beard. That's why I started keeping a beard.
I love my beard but for a long time I was doing Drag so my beard had to go. Today I'm like, fuck Drag and hello beard!
I'd say eating is a reason too. Anything can and will get in your beard, and so you have to change how you eat. Especially if you have a long moustache.
True, ribs and burgers can be rough!
-Zach
yeah I know the feeling, but I still eat them just have to deal with it. like they say, can't have your cake and eat it too. I say I'll still eat that cake because if it don't get all over your beard it douse not belong in your face lol
I want a beard som bad but I'm 19 and only get hair on my sideburns, chin, and mustache. I hope someday I'll have a full beard!
Hang in there, most of us guys see our beards develop and fill in during our early to mid 20's, so you still have some time before it hits full maturity!
-Zach
same. i have about an inch of sideburns and pretty full under the chin and mustache. but the face is a no no
Don't worry about it kid, instead commit towards self improving and gaining some responsibility as a real man. Hit the gym, get an education along with real world skills. Having facial hair doesn't make you a real man gaining inner self confidence along with personal responsibilities does.
As a gay man, I look for older men, and beards kinda indicate that. Especially with grey bits. I will see at the end of August I will keep the beard I am growing now. IF so, I'll get it shaped by a Barber so the cut lines work for my face & beard. I don't think I can get away with coloring my beard. IF I did I would try to make it red.
Only 16 but still gonna give my beard a shot for about 2 months
I grew mine out when I was 14 and still have it now at 17. It's fun to see the shock on people's faces when they find out your just a teenager with a thick beard
+Josh De Napoli my problem areas are underneath my bottom lip and my right connector. When did those come in for you ?
+Erik BC right around a year of growth, the left connector was my problem then. My advice is avoid trimming it as much as possible and just wait your beard might still have a bit more time it needs to mature. A bit more protein and exercise helps too.
+Josh De Napoli thanks man, Ive never grown for more than a month and when I did it was a goatee
That's what's up man, let it grow and see how you dig it!
-Zach
I don't grow a beard because my beard hair grows in really thick everywhere except the cleft of my chin.
Good to see u Jeff, fav on beard brand, beard suits your face. You look very kool and manly. Do not shave it!
1 eating and drinking become very problematic with a beard 🤧
2 it makes you look a lot older👴🏻
3 it itches like crazy😱
4 some women don't like beards🙅🏻
5 it can make your face look like a chick monk 🐿
6 it takes a long time and a lot of patience 😤
7 harder to get some jobs👨🏻💻
8 viewed by society as a bum, hippie , or bad guy👹
9 can make you feel superior to guys who can't grow a beard 😏
10 it makes you feel more hot in the summer time 😓
miami _smp Some women don't like beards? Fuck the girls that don't like them, it's their loss not yours, never shave because I girl wants you to.
i hate the term 'clean shaven', it's evil.
Stubble/short beard FTW
you, sir have a nice beard
hi how are you
Pretty great, how are you?
-Zach
Hey, I joined the millatary at 17, I never had to shave. I never had to shave until my 30's. Hell, I was still being proofed in bars in my mid 30's. In my late 30's it came in with a vengeance. Now I'll be 65 soon, I can shave my beard today and in a week, week and a half I'll have my full beard back. All I can say is, DON'T TOUCH MY DAMN BEARD! It's mine, I waited patiently for it. I deserve it...Lol.
Wow that's interesting that it came in so late!
-Parker
I wish I could get tips on my beard and grooming it better. Even though I trim it and make it look nice, people tell me it looks bad. :/
Most men use a beard to hide their chubby weak jaws.I embrace my jaw.
Same here,I refuse to ever grow a beard. To me it's a sign of compliancy, weakness, whether of economics or systematic caving in. As opposed to self improving.
DANTASTIC MANIA The fuck
If I were one of those people who get offended easily, I'd put "That guy with the beard over there." into the same category as "That girl with the huge breasts over there."
Fortunately I am not that easily offended. ;)
I like humans in any shape and size, some are attractive to me some aren't, even outside my usual "preference".
So, beard on if you can and want to :D and thanks for this great video!
The only thing that bothers me is that big beard requires big mustache. And big mustache is royal pain in the ass. Mustache is the thing that takes too much time to maintain (not the beard). Mustache brings most of the discomfort associated with the beard. And it is mustache that will annoy the hell out of you. If/when I shave/trim my beard it will happen because of freaking mustache.
You could always give the natural mustache look a try, kind of like Jeff has in this video or like Carlos rocks!
-Zach
lol "whatever you guys do"
Shaving is so unnatural. Hair was made to come out of your face and that’s just the way it is. I actually find it less hassle looking after my beard than I did shaving every day and having sore skin or getting cuts etc.
NONE of these reasons affect me I'm only 19 and I have a full grown beard fuck what a job gotta say or society I let the beard grow
My beard is deeply hurt and offended after watching this video and has locked itself in the bathroom, i can hear it sobbing from outside. I hope your happy with yourself you monster
It's ok, one day your beard will realize this was just tough love, and it was for his own good.
-Zach
+Beardbrand . Sometimes tough love is the only way so I've give it a slap and told it to man up lol. Cheers Zach
Takes alot of work to grow a beard? No it takes a lot of work to shave everyday. The beard is a natural God given gift that requires no effort just patience
reason 11. your beard or moustache is so stiff and scratchy it actually causes physical pain at times and can cause you problems when trying to get to sleep at night.
Use beard oil or other beard softening products, I had the same issue with my beard, that's why I used to keep it really short, like a stubble or just shave it. Then I found a cream for a "3 day beard" which softens the hair and reduces itchiness ☺️
Thats only the 1st week after the scratching begins, if you can handle it for 1 week it will go away.!
Pretty much what goko said. and they have videos on this. you'll have good days and bad days. I'm over 7 months now. without even a trim. and I still have a few days here and there when it becomes irritating.
Jordan Lorenz I can't get much farther than the 4 month mark before I'm forced to remove the untrainable wicker basket growing from my upper lip.
+sidefish oh trust me sometimes it gets old eating your own beard when ever trying to anything other then soup. but you don't grow a beard because it makes things easy. or even look good. mine certainly looks like a rats nest.
I have a class mate 15 same age as me and legit has a beard like almost as thick as yours no patchy bullshit either a full beard fuckin crazy huh I barely even have much of that teenage soft hair yet 😨
Jeff, my wife doesn't like getting my moustache hairs when she kisses me. I think that is a very important reason, if not the most important reason.
you dont seem very convinced
this felt really forced. a good attempt and very commendable on doing the opposite side
men are suppose to have beard. It is not trend .
Meer Farooq
People cut their hair, it's a trend
Let’s not forget skin issues like Seborrheic Dermatitis
Beards are not a trend. They have been around since the days of the caveman. Something is only a trend if it's relatively recent.
What's the big deal for Christ sake. If you have the potential to grow a beard - give it a shot. If you don't like it - shave it off. Simple!
Beards can make a man look older, but they can also make a man look more rugged and carefree. Beards scream masculinity, dominance and aggression. Perhaps that's the real reason why men who can't grow beards keep telling men who can grow them - to shave it off. It makes them look weak standing next to a bearded gent! Food for thought!
#9: Medical field checking in.
I trimmed mine all the way off and all the females in my life all like it way better but all the guys just make fun. Ha. Makes me look so young. 30years old and still getting carded at lcbo every time sucks !
Ahh man I feel you on the ID thing! But hey, better to have a youthful look than look a decade older than you are!
-Zach
This guy is so cute!
My #1 cant. Volunteer firefighter.
False on the beard vs shaven
For me it's like Beard or Death.
Reasons to not have beards extended:
1. You have glasses
Lets face it, you make bearded men look bad, switch to contacts, youll make it. Glasses and beards do not go hand in hand.
2. You swooce your hair to the left or right and you resemble a stereotypical hipster.
Lets face it you make us look bad.
3. You have a girlish voice and not a deep manly toned one,
Lets face it, you make us look bad.
ehhh. I bet a man with glasses, a clean hair style, and a gnarly beard would probably do just fine around the ladies.
-Parker
His name Jeff! 😂😂
I thought this was going to be funny
im growing a beard now haha not shaving!
That's what's up!
-Zach
Beard takes time and patience and alot of commitment to get your style right. Time and length sort out all beard issues. Good luck.
The beard philosophy 101...
i've had my beard long before it became a trend recently. and i've gotten rid of women who had issues with my beard, i can replace the chick faster than the beard grows back.
finally there is a video letting you know you dont need a beard to be a man.
theirs 666 likes ... are beards evil ???
Hurry up, someone else like the video!
-Zach
No they aren't, the devil is trying to trick you guys that it is!
Ha ha ha baby Face 😊😊😊
Kevin Jonas
4:13 I think you meant to say "sissies" not "guys". ;)
Number two makes no sense. Shaving is a great deal of effort and to look reasonable one must do it far too regularly.
i dont care if people dont like mine fuck em lol
Then why are you having beard 😒
I know beards can be a lot of work if you are the 1% of the male population who actually take GOOD care of it as of most of you other bearded men believe you are that 1% because your ego is i the way of the truth.
Or you are baby face and like a bald but don't want to look like a giant adult baby. Facial hair can give you a better self-esteem. Look at my profile picture here.
With baby face I meant that I have a round face that looks like a face of a baby.
