If you've ever wondered why your beard looks a little weird after you get a haircut, or after you trim your beard down, this might be the reason! This underlooked part of the beard is a major part of the overall look and fullness of your beard. The sideburns will help balance out the entire shape of your head and your face. Not only this, but having big thick and bushy sideburns looks good on its own, but it will help the jawline and you won't feel the constant need to trim the pokey hairs that stick out from your neck pushing them out! Because the jaw corners get pushed out of your beard by your neck, you'd normally look like a bottom-heavy beard, but if you have those thick sideburns then you will look supremely balanced! I highly recommend growing out and emphasizing your sideburns!

Since the pandemic began I started shaving my head. Most of the videos I was watching for bald with a beard guys were fading and trimming their sideburns, so thats what Ive been doing for a few months.
All I can say is it was a big mistake and i knew something was off.... but this video really helped me pinpoint it. With me because of the shape of my cheekbones under the sideburns, it made that whole area look really strange and off.
thanks man, great video. time to grow out my glorious sideburns again.

Hi, I’m new in trying to grow a beard and I wanted to ask. I normally
wash my face twice a day with L’Oréal Paris Men Expert hydra sensitive
soothing daily face wash, then use L’Oréal men expert Vita Lift anti
aging daily moisturizer. All over my face from my forehead to the bottom
of my neck... Want to ask when your growing a beard (mine is about a
centimeter by now) do you stop using cleansing washes on your facial
hair side and moisturizers? You only use beard shampoo and conditioner
and beard oil and balm? Meaning from forehead to nose normal cleaning
routine and face products and from checks to neck just beard products
only? No more moisturizers where beard growth is? Guess beard oil
    replaces that? Thanks :)

Awesome, dude 👏. Thats so on point.
I've watched a lot of beard grooming in youtube; some from beardbran too, and the barbers insisit on trimming the sideburns too much and go super long in the chin and jaw area. I never really dig what they're doing. Like you said, they do fading in all that area to blend it with the hair cut a little, but it looks kinda wrong, like not organic.
So its great that you point those things out, so barbers stop going too hipster on the beards and start going for a more even and natural look, sort of clint eastwood beard in 'the good, the bad and the ugly' kind of style. I think that a waay better and manly beard.

  • @Nordicroo
    @Nordicroo 3 роки тому +1

That works fine for people with most ear types but on me, if looking straight at my face front on, you can hardly see my ears as it is. So for me, it's actually better to tapper the hair and make it more flat unlike yours. I tend to do more side on profile photos otherwise it seems like I don't have ears. But your point is definitely valid for most people.
PS: That's an absolute fantastic beard you have!

Good tip. My beard pattern grows well behind my jaw bone under my ear and it grows straight back. That is the challenge for me bc I either have to round that off and add that to the minimal shave clean up every few days or let it get long enough to let gravity help it switch directions. Not sure if my description makes sense. I shaved to stubble this week anyway. I get annoyed with the whole beard maintenance.

    • @jeffreybuoncristiano
      @jeffreybuoncristiano  3 роки тому +2

  • @arjun._.bbC6

Ok so I transitioned from a full sideburns to a faded one because full burns on a frizzy black beard on an already wide face, no matter the grooming, looked TOO unkempt and animalistic. It especially gave off the homeless guy feel. Once I started fading, my face looked more within the boundary.
I guess a point to be noted that I often have shaved or buzzed sides with a top knot, so my hears are pronounced no matter what.

hello Jeffrey. i want to ask something but since you can t see my face/ beard it s pretty hard to say what to do about it. anyway i will try to describe. before anything i want to say that i m 22 atm and this may or may not affect the size, thicness etc. i started to grow a full beard since i was 18. my facial hair started to grow pretty nice started with the age of 15-16 or so. over the years (between 18-22) i tried different styles. it looks good(ish), but sometimes i just hate it.. i feel like it s not thic enogh. i wanted to shave it off and not grow it again but i feel like my beard brings me confidence?! (i know this sounds stupid tho, maybe i m too childish about it). in my head, in order to make it look better i had to keep growing it, may be wrong tho. i guess with the age i will be able to have a different beard, i m impatient (i know it). i hope this message won t piss you off 😅 and thank you very much for your attention. great tips btw, you are awesome. cheers

@@Sanjaymverma OK I think i understand. well, it sounds like you're trimming your beard inconsistently. i would start using guards on your clippers to get a consistent trim.
if you're beard is longer than guard length, i would suggest going to a barber for a while until you figure out what kind of style works best for you. sadly this often takes a while.
it's about how you cut it. you have to cut it consistently, it's not the beards fault.

As a bald man I'm not a fan of long sideburns, it just don't look right . I think blending the sideburns into the skin on the head just looks more streamlined . A good example of this (besides myself) is Rich Cooper from Entrepreneurs and cars .

I hear you. That’s why I USED to think that. But I disagree fully. Like I said it doesn’t look right, but you have to try it to see what I mean. And I looked him up, and this guy IS KINDA doing what I’m saying but he’s doing the front heavy thing. Which i mentioned in this video. But other than that, I think he’s actually doing a disservice to his style by blending, but to reiterate, it’s an “ah-ha” moment that is a once you see it, you “get it”. But until you do, you’ll stay the same, and that’s ok. But hopefully you’ll see the light.

@@jeffreybuoncristiano I think we will agree to disagree BUT , i do believe that if you have a full head of hair like yourself then having long side burns is a really good look, i just don't like it on me personally although i have seen some bald men pull off the the long side burns with no blending and it looks really good . I think it's more of an individual thing than just saying all men look better with one particular style , you rock it well so keep doing your thing !

Your tips are pretty good. However, my hair doesn't grow like yours and grows straight out. My hair is pretty straight and it just looks better tapered.

I think you’ve misunderstood what I was saying. To reiterate, it’s all about the matching of the sideburns to the jaw length and not tapering it like an upside down pyramid

I grew my beard for about 4 months everything seemed fine but suddenly my beard started to feel very greasy and if I put a bit less beard oil, then it felt super dry. I don't know what went wrong. I used quality products, washed my beard with beard wash once or twice a week, conditioned it and everything. It just didn't feel right. I shaved it to about 5mm now and maybe I'll start growing it again and see what happens.

Probably inconsistency and maybe the products you using. Maybe twice a week is too much

I know you have a pretty straight beard but how does one with a curly beard deal with the underbeard?

  • @chawenhalo0089

Thanks for that. Side burns always seem to grow faster than the rest. Here's a question for you: I have a dense straight wild boar hair mustache and curly bear from the jaw line downwards. If I don't want or tbh can't handle (too stiff and painful) a handle bar mustache, how do I integrate a chevron style to the rest of my beard? Is it doable or should I reconsider a handle bar? My mustache way thicker that what's on my cheeks...

Hey Jeff! I had a personal question.. So like I'm 23 and can grow a pretty decent beard for my age. But then I want to shave it off because I realize that I'm not as manly as the beard makes me look..
Should I wait till I'm older and feel more confident (meanwhile waiting for the beard to grow more dense too) or should I just grow it and not care much..

    • @seltiks911

Grow it and don’t care ! Growing it out will help make it look full and dense. The longer hairs will cover up some patchy spots 🥳

No don’t wait. Your obviously misinformed what a man is to you. A man can be many things and men are never whole. For me, one quality a “man” has is braving uncertainty. And men grow beards. So grow it, keep it, and brave the feelings of imposter syndrome!
