To me it seems like her expression is saying "What did he do?" or something like that ... He sees that and he looks down in pain. I hope that this woman isnt a friend or girlfriend or anything more than just a coworker. How she reacted had enough weight on influencing his emotions to the point of him looking down in pain. I'm weird when it comes to shaving because I'll grow my beard out for 3 to 4 months, get tired of it, shave it off and then at first I'll like it for like 2 days or so and then after, I'll regret it and be hoping it grows back as quickly as possible.
Why regret it. You look handsome without it anyway
Then the cycle repeats. I think my longest beard was 5 months. I keep waiting for my stache to grow enough to look connected to my cheeks but I get tired and shave it.

I think beards sometimes hide a weak jawline and it can make you look like you have a strong face, with a sharp jawline, and sometimes the change it's scary between beard and no beard, you can look like a totally different person, I mean the beard hides like 50% of your face but in their case they look good.
