    Secret #1 - Don’t trim your mustache!
    Let it go! Leaving it alone will allow your mustache to look fuller and healthier. However, it’s alright to lightly trim the split-ends of your mustache if any stray hairs start getting out of control.
    Secret #2 - Maintain your neckline.
    Depending on how sharp you want it to look and how fast the hair grows, be sure to shave your neck once or twice a week. Maintaining your neckline gives the beard an edgy shape and less sloppy look. Especially if your chest hair connects to the beard..
    Secret #3 - Frequent beard oiling.
    Applying beard oil more than once a day keeps the dryness away. By applying at least twice a day - once in the morning and once in the afternoon - will help keep your skin and beard moisturized and healthier.
    Secret #4 - Ignore the cheek lines.
    In many cases, leaving the cheek lines alone can give your beard a burly or haggard look. If you’re tired of the clean/sharp cut style; give this one a shot!
    Secret #5 - Physical health.
    Staying healthy, active and keeping your weight in line can help your beard look better. Your beard conforms to your face shape, so if your face shape is thinner and longer your beard will take on a more natural, forward-flowing shape.

    Very good advice all around. I also never ever trim my mustache or my cheek line. I think some of the coolest beards are on guys who have very high cheek lines that just fade naturally. Jeff's is a good example of where this looks really good.

    Can't stress enough how much listening to your advice helps. The main was the beard neck line tip. I'm not an attractive guy by any stretch of the imagination, but my 3 beard went from a 4 to a 7 just by doing that. It looks so much better from the side and makes my face look less chubby; I put it off for ages thinking I'd have to start again, but after going to an amazing barber I now have the courage to keep my neck line in check myself. I was always using oil & maintaining neck line anyway, but they are also great tips. Thanks Jeff!

    I recently started not trimming my mustache at All. I would always trim the lip part (keeping it out of mouth). I was never happy with my tash. It's been months of letting it completely grow, so it's past my bottom lips now. I just brush it out of my mouth outward. It looks way fuller now. I will keep growing till its the tash I want. Very good advice.

    Great video!
    First, I remember a while back somebody commented on one of jeff's videos talking about how "Jeff looks so serious all the time" and beardbrand responded with "he's actually an energetic and fun person" or something like that. But in this video I can actually tell that's Jeff energy is different- not that it was bad before, not at all, all his videos are a excellent. But in this one for instance I feel like less people would get that "serious vibe" due to his tone and energy. I'm glad to see that some viewers' feedback was considered :).
    Second, I *LOVE* the little thug life edits when you throw them in Jeff's videos. I LOL every time!!

    Right on with the whole beard shape and weight loss fact. It's very true, when you lose weight your face becomes more angled and less round and therefore your beard takes on lines that are masculine and rugged looking vs round and soft looking. Good job on the whole vid, but this fact is 80 percent the battle to an awesome beard.

    The tips about the beard's relation to the cheeks and hiw to achieve that gaunt look are spot on. I've seen so many guys who shave or shape the area just below their cheekbones only to see them resemble a kind of telly tubby with a beard. Not a good look.

    Re #1 - I'm needing to comb and train it OUT the way and to the side as I often now get 1/2 a mouthful of tache when I'm eating! When I go to a good beard barber in Edinburgh, Scotland, they want to trim it, though I want the tache to be practically as big as the beard - when it's trimmed more.

    About 6 weeks ago a pea sized section of my skin under my beard was dry due to a pimple. The skin, in one piece, along with the hairs fell off. I still have a bald spot. Thankfully my 4 inches of beard conceal this spot. But will that section grow back in?

  • @AwkwardBeggar

    I hope no one took offence to the losing weight tip. I'm somewhat overweight myself at the moment, and I know exactly what he means. When I'm on my slimmer periods, my beard starts coming together, it looks way thicker and it just lines up with the face a bit better. This is probably not the case for everyone, but he mentioned that it works for him, and it will work for some others. But of course, not everyone. Good video, jeff, your beard is actually my inspiration. Cheers everyone.

    • @Cemmos
      @Cemmos 7 років тому +1

      Worked for me as well. Started letting myself go a little too much, had a good 20+ lbs of extra weight and my face was very bloated looking. After shaving off the fat, my face looks much better, and so does my beard. And, well... my body too. That was probably the first time I ever went what I'd consider overweight. Never again!

    • @jeffreybuoncristiano
      @jeffreybuoncristiano 7 років тому +2

      yeah, i hope not too, which is why i used MYSELF as a reference and example. I get it, i get overweight too!

    • @eastgermanbureaucrat6761
      @eastgermanbureaucrat6761 7 років тому

      As a fat person I think he's right when I look at fellow fat people with beards.
      I'm a bit more lucky with my face as it doesn't really change a lot when it comes to fat storage, although this also has the effect that I usually don't lose any fat there even though I burn a lot away in several months.
      Decided on growing my first beard in june, I'll see how it will develop with my face.
