Thanks for watching!
As a lifelong Transformers fan, this is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I want one.
Me too. But oof. $1000
$1000 schmekls sir
Yeah i saw it when prototype broke cover. Stuffs amazing i just cant break with a grand for a toy. Tho its a robot toy
@@captaintoyota3171 but it will be worth more in time, its a investment
and thats 999 just for optimus. if you want the full package, the trailer is an extra 750. yikes. im sure its totally worth it, but couldnt bring myself to, nor do i have the space to show it off.
I just can’t believe he can kick without falling off.
He shall stand, you shall fall!
Yeah he's so cool, I wish I could make $700 appear out of thin air but I'm broke
Soon that things gonna be the size of us and I'm gonna tell my kids it's bedtime and Optimus is gonna come kick me in the teeth

I didn't expect him to transform that fast and stand up by itself, that's actually amazing...
...and he does the superhero landing...wow
I remember practicing so hard to make the sound of transforming. Even though it took me 3 times as long to make them transform. XD GOOD TIMES!
He’s got the touch, that’s for sure! 🙂
@@RedTachi Haha Ikr. Me too. 🤣
I've heard that's hard on the knee servos. 😉
If it started to talk with Cullen's voice. I would have passed out with joy.
"'Till all are one."
Optimus saying this with pride, instead of grief is just great to hear.
Cool toy.... really amazed that customers can program their own movements for Optimus. The "martial arts training" is NEXT level 👌
The people who designed this were fans for sure, a lot of love went into it.
The red panel behind his head is generally not shown in promo shots/video because Robosen know it looks terrible and not accurate and is a deal breaker for many!
@@colors6692 you just watched Optimus prime do sit-ups and you care about a 1 inch panel
@@colors6692 bro, you just watched optimus prime practice martial arts with Adam savage staring in awe behind him

The balance of Optimus is nothing short of amazing!
He needs a nerf asap imo. He's a little *too* balanced.
Of course...he's got the touch.
Whoever coded these Martial Arts moves did a hell of a Job. 👍
Granted, he does have a big foot plate to keep him balanced!
if a toy can do this. doom is near
I can't wait for someone to build a life size version of this.

@@StardustLegacyFighter yeah the unicorn replica can transform to reveal the psycho frame
Its all fun and games until it becomes self aware!😂🤣😂🤣
How many of us have waited ~35 years for this?
Huge props to the company, and yes $1000 is a lot of money for a toy, but that's actually less than I expected tbh.
I saw someone complaining about the price and i said the same thing, for all the movement it does and the sounds and the size of the thing, it's really not "that"expensive if that makes sense
but does it do anything apart from transforming and do different poses? is it a smart robot assistant as well?
@@Tompradoo I think the fact that you can program different animations is the only thing you can make it do.
OTOH ... I wouldn't be surprised if someone hacks the software and manages to upload Wolfenstein 3D / Doom / Pacman / Pong / Skyrim into it, because that's something that appears to be the first proof of concept of a functional hack :D
I think the Lego OP is about the same price.
MP-10 is better for a fifth the price
Imagine how impressive it would be to have all 6 Constructicons automatically join together and form Devastator.
I'd sh$% myself and wouldn't care. 🤣.
Do not be surprised we might see that one day
We're probably gonna _see_ that, one day.
@@leeedwards2232 😂🤣😂... You jackass!!! I almost wet myself!!! 😂🤣😂
Devastator was my favorite toy. That would be a dream!
This thing is awesome, beats the hell out of the Lego model, a Transformer figure that's truly 'more than meets the eye'. Very impressive! 👍
Fun fact: The "torso twist" goes back to 2003, with the first "Masterpiece" version of Optimus Prime and has been a staple of more modern takes on the G1 version of Prime.
It essentially allows for a more stylized grill, like he has in the show, and hides the "truck grill". Whereas the original G1 figure never rotated and just used the truck grill as the torso.
This is a fun fact, and one I wasn't aware of! I recall most of the transformation sequences were rooted in the original figures, though; it was a point of commentary for the 1980's movie that Galvatron was one of the first characters designed for animation first, without their being a figure available for him yet.
BW Optimus Primal had that part of his transformation as well and originally Primal was supposed to be Prime but in an animal body.
Torso twist is wrong.
The headmaster Optimus I have has a separate grill and windows modeled on the back side, where his arms fold up to hide them away in vehicle mode.
@@TheForeverRanger Not quite. The first version of Optimus Primal, the bat, was supposed to be Optimus Prime reborn, but Hasbro quickly retconned it when they worked with Mainframe to produce the TV series.
So the gorilla Optimus Primal, to which you're referring to, was never supposed to represent the original Optimus Prime. They're totally separate characters.
That's not a toy. That's a work of art.

I may not know much about robotics, but I do know that bipedal balance was a huge struggle. I have enjoyed seeing the progress, but that was seriously impressive for a toy.
Ok, whoever created that martial arts sequence is God Tier. Props to the mechanical/software engineers for even making it all possible! Nothing short of game breaking.
...and they love the Transformers as much we do.
game? what game?
Even crazier is that they were able for him to keep his balance during the high kicks.
I wonder if there are gyros of some sort that help it maintain balance
Omg that vibe from street fighter/King of fighters 99 fighting movement 🔥
That is legitimately impressive on all fronts, and speaking as someone who works in the toy industry, I applaud the concept, engineering, and dev team for committing to seeing this project through despite what was assuredly an astronomical development cost, which is ALWAYS the determining factor that decides whether a toy gets made or not.
Optimus prime: till all are one.

@@andrewft31They have done Megatron by now. By the way, their version of Megatron transforms into a tank.
Just downloaded the motion sequence "Kung Fu Master" for my Robosen Prime a couple days ago and was BLOWN AWAY! Prime literally does a full kata including "powerful" sidekicks where he is balancing on just one leg while kicking like it was nothing. That's some ingenious design at play here!
It’s genuinely incredible it has the articulation, power and balance to pull that off. Those kicks are insane

Amazing. Finally what we used to dream that our optimus toy would do back in the 80s and 90s has become a reality.

That quick turn he does while transforming, a Super kick and damn those Push ups that really sold me. Never thought the technology has progressed this far mainly because we see those on screen through vfx + cgi

Absolutely incredible. I mean what kid wouldn’t want to have this, let alone an adult! Honestly the robotic animatronic and programming language skills to do this is incredibly advanced. This should win some awards.
Optimus looks and moves amazingly, was really impressed with the one legged stance during the kick! But the trailer has a lot more potential
yeah the trailer was meh in my opinion. all that space
Not really, the trailer really served no real purpose for the Gen 1 Optimus other than as a hauler for that smaller vehicle and opening to the turret and that was it. It did nothing else. Was the same for the old Gen 1 toys as well.
Hell in the original Gen 1 cartoon I can only remember once where it actually was used..otherwise it would simply vanish into thin air when Optimus would transform and never be seen being used for anything.
@@xJamesLaughx What does the trailer do here? It opens up and has a turret at the end. Obviously that is really dissapointing coming after Optimus which has a cooler startup animation, a nice look final transformation, and practically unlimited movements after the fact. Like the trailer is massive. You brought up it being a hauler for smaller vehicles, so they could have added that.
I'm judging the robot, not what it was in the cartoon.
@Mert M it should be the charging station, iirc this optimus couldnt stand when it's off, so the trailer should be his stand, base or something.

I was shocked when they didn't know the name for it. Not hardcore G1 fans for sure. Maybe just casuals?
Imagine these in a fan film. Truly amazing
I'm so impressed by how it can balance it's center of gravity so accurately and make kicks without falling! What ingenuity, these are the next generation of toys :O
*Adam Savage being a fellow Transformers' fan made my day*
I'm 42 and I have wished for this since I was a kid in the 80's. I started watching them back in 87-90's era. I'm really glad I lived long enough to see this happen
Adam's excitement at things like this never ceases to make me smile!
The auto-transformations definitely the popular feature, but it blows my mind how it's able to do complex poses and actions like kicks without falling (AND YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN POSES OR DOWNLOAD AND TRY OTHERS). While it's still too much for me, I will say they could've definitely charged more for this considering how advance it is.
That kungfu animation and balance is amazing
"It's a great time to be a 55 y.o. kid." love it!
I had the original prime semi and trailer in the 80s. If I would have seen this version back then, I would have lost my mind lol.. what kind of sorcery is this? 🤣🤯
Those custom animations are wild! If you had shown me these and told me it was stop motion animation I'd believe you! Wild that it can do that in real time on its own!
As I understands it there is no real attempt at making it a walking robot. That is there's no gyro or any way for the toy to know if it is about to fall. The custom animation shown had to be hand crafted with attention to keep the center of gravity squarely over the feet. Making it kick must have been a nightmare to program as there are no sensors to help it keep the balance. That's also why they were a bit concerned about the leather surface on the desk. Several moves rely on the feet sliding. To little or to much friction and it can fall over because CG moves outside the contact patch of the feet.
I'm not saying it isn't impressive what they've been able to create, but it's no Asimov or Big Dog, and that's perfectly fine as it's a toy for men with money enough to spend on the toy they whished they'd had back when they were kids and watched the show on TV 30 years ago.
This is the absolutely coolest thing I have seen in a while. That diesel engine start sound made me giggle. It was a really nice touch.
As someone who watched the original cartoons when they came out...very cool...
55 year old kid...didn't know I was an older kid than Adam.
Awesome video Adam. The trailer is "Combat Deck" and the Drone is "Roller", which are the to component parts of Optimus Prime.
Nostalgia is such an awesome feeling. Seeing this gave me goosebumps. I would've loved to watch this thing for hours as a kid. Amazing job by the company.
Awsome toy. "Mythbusters" was an awsome show, I miss it so much. Cheers from Mexico.
All I could think of as soon as I saw Adam the first time it Transformed was, I bet Grant would have loved to see this. I bet Grant would have been part of a team that programmed these.
The ability to add your own movements is amazing
Yes, pretty cool…it sets a high standard and apart from others.
I have a part of my 2023 bonus earmarked for this! As a Gen X that grew up on Transformers, this is the best thing I've ever seen!
This is just absolutely beautiful! As someone who grew up in the 80s, this for sure is a dream come true. Was missing the price though.
That martial arts training is just mind blowing. I've seen several videos of the toy but that log sequence is truly impressive.
I think in the other videos there is a sequence where you can get it to roll and immediately stops to transform kind of. Or transforming back into vehicle and rolls away.
Since people can customize the sequence I'm guessing there are going to be people whod create one where you can put 2 together and make it look like its fighting each other.
They do drive, so grimlock will walk, tanks will be working tanks, boats will float, basicaly all vechicle modes will function, all robot modes will function, Adam how have u not made star wars toys like this yet.
As a kid who grew up with the original animated Transformers show (still the best), this is literally the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life!!! I absolutely have to have this if there's any way I can possibly afford it.
I've had one since Day 1 and let me tell you, it's the most amazing toy I've ever played with. It blows everyone that we show it to away. Truly worth every penny.

Okay, I was absolutely questioning that $1000 price tag, but that martial arts demo was clearly a cut above most other bots out there.
The animation reminded me of an old gameboy color game called Powerquest. "Model Robot Fighting."
More fluid motion than a teslabot
Just found this channel, and it's so great to see Adam again! My kids and I loved watching his excitement and laughter contrasted with Jamie's wry and matter-of-fact demeaner on Myth Busters. You read my mind
I'm amazed he was able to maintain balance while doing the martial arts moves. And the transforming sound effects straight out of the 80s cartoon was brilliant. It also sounds like they got the original voice actor to do Optimus' voice.
Clearly the base of the design came from classic japanese battle bots
@@kaelthunderhoof5619 even the first cartoon was mostly animated in japan it's technically an anime, btw even the original inspector gadget cartoon was made in japan by TMS. seems they just loved animating robots and the like.
@@orektez I'm not talking about the character design but the robot function. If you watch Japanese Robo Wrestings their bots have vast move sets and the flat feet is a classic design that gives the robot good balance.

Right when I thought the transformation is the most awesome thing I have seen from any toy, Optimus did the kicking .... blown away!!!
My oldest (he is now 24) has been a Transformers fan for as long as I can remember. He has a HUGE collection and I am sure he is going to want to add this to it as well. I love Adam's reaction to this toy. I can relate completely! I am that way with any Star Wars toys I see today in stores. I also collect them, but have ran out of space to display them. Self control sucks!
I had a ton of the original toys back in the 80s, including Optimus. I sold them all at a yard sale when I decided to "grow up" and move on from "toys". The attention to detail on these is incredible, and really takes me back to my box of transformers in my childhood bedroom!
When I was a kid there was this cartoon called Dexter's Laboratory and in one of the episodes of the first season dexter made action figures that flew, talked and even transformed by themselves and with a remote.
I'd like to remind you that was a fantasy cartoon. We are at the point where imagination is closer to a reality than ever before.
It's truly more that meets the eye!
Mind blown! That is incredible! And I have a feeling as of the initial release of this video that Tested may have taken the Robosen site down with traffic going there!
Loved this so much! As a lifelong fanboy of Optimus Prime and the Transformers franchise this was amazing to watch. THank you for sharing this with us ! 😁
When i was young, a japanese Tv serie called " Jumaro " played. It was about small robots fighting in tournaments. This serie made me loose my head. Seeing this toy is just my childhood dream come true.
Wow!
That martial arts move set and the balancing on one leg, amazing!
THIS!! You guys just made my day! I am quite impressed, and the engineering, balance, and range of functions are amazing! I agree with Adam that, while pricey, it is about what I would expect for this level of detail.
This is by far the coolest toy I've seen for the transformers franchise. Only problem is it costs way too much, but it'd be so worth it if it wasn't so expensive
if it wasn't so expensive, every fan of transformer should have one.
Honestly I like the Grimlock one better. Also that giant Unicron toy is great as well.
5:30 if you had 2 of them you could have a fight with them that would look pretty cinematic. Absolutely genius
That's exactly what I was thinking! I hope they make a Megatron one with the sae features.
This is the perfection of the original 80's toy. 👏
😮😮 The nostalgia is on 1000% right now!
This makes me want to be around for another 40 years. I’d love to see automated Transformers toys on shelves in the near future. I’m already jealous of the kids who get to have such wonderfully engineered versions of the characters I grew up with, _screen accurate_ and _everything._ At least I get to see it, that, and a very attractive version of the Pac-Man board game. I had the original and I thought it was the bees-knees. Fantastic stuff guys! Absolutely Fantastic!
The engineering behind this is insane
"Thank you very much"_ china🇨🇳😁✌
Now you guys need to have him unbox the Grimlock.
I remember in the 80's when Transformers were the hottest thing, Optimus was near impossible to get. Some places sold him for over $200 which was ridiculous. I never owned him but I did own a lot of other models. This version would have sold like hot cakes back in the day!
This is amazing, and the really exciting prospect for me would be getting two together and choreographing a custom fight sequence - as one punches, the other flinches back or ducks or blocks. Based on the martial arts training set, you could go so complex with it and even film/edit it really creatively. Adam, get two of these so we can watch you do it :)
If you manually transformed the original toy and watched the cartoon... this is amazingly accurate. The head and body twist are completely accurate
Awesome robot toys are still impressive no matter how old I get
Adam's joy in this is contagious
Hoooly, that is amazing how amazing it looks, and user made animations is suuuch a great addition. It's obvious but a lot of companies would think it's unnecesary and not worth it. Man did the martial arts training look good.
Honestly one of the coolest things I have seen. If I had extra money to throw around would for sure purchase this
I bought 4 of them last year. Sold 2. Kept one for long term. And one for playing. Sweet toy. Robosen made another transforming robot previously.
That martial arts routine was so cool. Maybe in the future the servos will be faster... Imagine that routine at 2x speed.
I think at 2x the speed, Optimus Prime would become too unstable and possibly fall over unless I'm missing something that can come into play to further stabilize the balance.
