  • We feel that a highly detailed small block Chevrolet can be just as head turning as your generic LS swaps. For this project, we chose to detail a 350ci small block Chevrolet with a HEI distributor topped off with a set of a Summit Racing DIY spark plug wires routed below the headers for a clean custom look! Included in this video are the part numbers of the individual components and tools, as well as the routing and mounting procedure we use to keep wires hidden and discrete.
Look forward to seeing this engine in an upcoming K10 project!

Always wondered how this look was accomplished. LOL Great vid man!

I definitely recommend installing the boot after. Very easy to slide on with a bit of dielectric grease. I find it way too hard to bend the wire 90 degrees to get it out of the "mouth" of the boot.

Agreed! I'd much rather push the wire towards the terminal when installing the boot after the crimp rather than pulling the wire and crimp back into the boot, seems like a higher likelihood of disrupting the connection

That looks great. Really like how you ran the "cross bank" wires under the dizzy instead of around it.
I just DIY'ed the wires on my the TBI motor I'm doing for my 87 R10 last weekend. I had to use the crappy two metal plates that came with the wires. Saw those crimpers, but boy they pricey. And I just don't do enough DIY wires to justify them. (Only done two sets in 20 years.) But they're waaay easier than those two cave man plates I had to use!

Thank you! I've built a few sets in the past and always had to borrow a set of crimpers because the caveman tool frustrates me beyond belief LOL

Did you purposely rotate the last several inches of wire leading up the the dizzy boot so as to hide the lettering? Nice trick.
I wanted plain black wires on my project. But my cheap set had "Taylor 8mm Super Stock" on them. Thought about trying to rotate them, but it was gonna be a hassle. So I used a rag with a bit of lacquer thinner to rub the lettering off. Took awhile, but makes for a cleaner overall look.
