      Look for a distributer in your area. It’s very expensive but lasts a lifetime. It’s Bluewater Series Coosa, 3/4” thickness. They also have 1/2”.. Try Google or check your local Marine Store. I found it on Facebook Marketplace. Thanks for watching! Subscribe.

    Hey man. I just picked up a 83’ 15 ss. It has some minor delaminating on the transom. Could I send you a video to get your recommendation on what approach I should take? I’d really appreciate it. Do you have an email?

    Would it be stronger to bond the two layers of Coosa board together before installing it as one piece?

    • @spinfish1434
      @spinfish1434  9 місяців тому

      We bonded the Coosa together with a sheet of 1708/Epoxy. If we had done it before it would’ve made it more difficult to get it completely inserted in the transom pocket. It’s extremely strong and there are no cracks of any kind in the transom or well areas.

    Why not finish out with epoxy? Why use vinyl ester at the end?
    You would think epoxy is better vs water intrusion and strongwr bond?

      @@TestBot4231 Vinylester works with Gelcoat not Epoxy. Gelcoat top coat will not cure, or stick properly to Epoxy. Epoxy and Gelcoat are fine for “small” repairs.

    We didn’t get to see the original outside layer go back on and original hole management in the repaired area. Did you fill and how the lower blind mounting holes not needed for the new motor? btw - my hull number is 5A9837. Transom is fine.

    Anyone ever do a transom on a 17 McKee offshore ?

  • @TheOffCycle
    @TheOffCycle 9 місяців тому

    Should have just used polyester. Epoxy was overkill and now you are stuck using it. Can’t put polyester on epoxy.

    • @spinfish1434
      @spinfish1434  9 місяців тому

      Polyester is no good below the waterline. If you know how to apply these materials in a particular order you’ll have no issues. (Watch it again there was no Polyester over Epoxy). 3 years and still looks like new. Take a marine fabrication class.
