The accent just doesn't fit ig and it kinda makes her cutscene a bit "cringy" for the lack of a more appropriate word Also, I still don't find larger weapons have enough impact. The game is actually fun i'm enjoying it. I actually liked Lies of P combat better, but I love the level design in this game. Kind of irritating so many people judge this game so harshly literally within the first 20 minutes. I will admit, I was starting to get turned off because of the performance problems but some of the recent patches seemed to have fixed most of it. I'm much further into the game now and the overall world is really cool. Once you can upgrade weapons, slot ruins, and really tinker the type of build you want. I went with a radiance strength. It's a far cry from Elden ring but nowhere near as bad as some people are saying.
just got the game. it’s really good, camera needs some work during some bosses but the combat is really nice and exploration is super fun with the lantern. enemy density has been turned down so it’s a bit easier, and bosses seem to pose more of a challenge
I played this game for about thirty minutes last night. It's hard to judge the game this early but I already dislike the movement, the camera, and the UI. Something about the visuals made it difficult for me to process. No matter where I placed the camera, it feels like you're always looking at the world from an unusually low angle.
Im not gonna lie Pilgrim's Perch was a fucking nightmare for me to get through and I genuinely didnt want to keep going, but once I got through it I began to enjoy it a lot more and didn't feel as lost.....yet... Ive got a lot of the game left so we'll see.
Besides the mine shafts pilgrims perch was easily the most cunty piece of dog shit on gods green earth…but it didn’t last that long..well not if you just play through how you’re suppose to, I spent ages there but that’s because I was doing shit for my build
Well yeah, not many people like watching someone dissect the lore and muck about for too long these days. Gotta keep the content flowing to keep the views coming and the money rising. It's completely reasonable when you think about it.
@@SluggedNuggwhat the...i hate when people just relates things to "money generating" bs. Not saying you are wrong and you might be RIGHT. but some people really do not care about lore and stuff and just want combat. Im not a streamer but most of the time i skip dialogues, cutscenes and stuff.
The only massive issue this game has is putting Pilgrim's Perch in the beginning of the game. I get it, it works geographically and the like, but it's too chaotic and narrow to put that early into the game when you're trying to get people who are on the fence interested in the game itself. It should have been an entirely optional, or mid game at the earliest, that way the playerbase already has enough experience with the game to not be filtered by it.
Unpopular opinion but I just got into this game and I think pilgrims perch is awesome. I have played all the souls games multiple times through so maybe I just like complicated (and maybe poorly mapped) areas. I like exploring it and going through all the different portions of it. If this was my first souls game idk if I would like it or hate it cuz of how weird it is but I think it’s a 10/10 game so far. Game pass really been blessing me lately
I was debating what to spend my leftover beer money on, either Lies of P or this. I won’t get into the whole spiel about my life choices, my antics and my preferences on what makes a good game. I will say Lies of P won by a long shot. (The game runs smooth and has enough ideas to indulge my fantasy of this being a great franchise. The Dorothy arc is interesting and every game developer starts somewhere. If this is their Demon souls equivalent, we need to pay attention. Great developers learn from mistakes and feedback and this studio pulled off this shit! We all asked for ‘fuck me bro but the bosses were too hard (which they were, Asmongold had a good take on that.) Fuck Me! It’s like Bloodborne with some Kingdom hearts elements with hearts and confused otherworldly story building. Last point while I enjoy my glass of ‘who fucking cares’ rose. Round 8 studied the tapes hard and made a great game with a vision. There is a big picture in mind and after 1 mill sales from us, the people, I’m excited to listen to their next tale with hopefully double the budget. P.s Charles is moist.
Lies of P. It's no contest. This game is a mess technically and it's boring to play. People are just defending it because they preordered it without thinking and don't want to admit that they wasted $60.
Idk how, but FromSoft has mastered enemy animations, they feel like every boss has been mocapped by literal monsters, i think you kinda can tell these animations are hand made especially by the quick sudden boss attacks and enemy lunges.
Maybe I'd be alot more interested in trying this game if it wasn't 120 dollars almost a month after release. games are getting way to expensive nowadays I remember when you could pick up the newest game on release for only 30 bucks and that seems like a dream now
As someone who just completed the platinum for this game after 6 playthroughs, this is a phenomenal game. It’s a bummer to see people hating without experiencing it first. As good as the best souls game, and has a fully interconnected world, more so than DS1 or any other souls game before. It’s amazing what they’ve created
I enjoy the hell out of this game I played it basically the second it launched and yea there where graphical bugs and lag but it was still fun and I enjoy the combat also there is a monkey armour later in the game
The biggest downfall of this game for me is that all of the weapons feel the same, and there's nothing that separates them from each other. Duel wielding does nothing useful, heavy attacks attack slower, but deal the same damage as a light attack, and there are no special abilities. There are 3 different move sets and that's it. You get a cool new weapon? Well it turns out it's identical to the one you're already using, just like the last 5 weapons you picked up🤦♂️
The levels design for this game is on another level, easily the best out of any souls likes excluding fromsoft games. The environments are amazing as well.

As someone else has stated the aesthetic is great but the gameplay for me is truly annoying. I don't enjoy playing the game but I don't mind watching people play it.
Not weirdly, its getting reasonable critique. Everyone likes to just boil people not liking a game to "hate". Also boil it down to "performance issues" when there are dozens of comments reading out their gripes with the game.
I was very opposed to this game before I ever played it. Been playing about a week now and am having a blast. Definitely a beautiful game. Graphical fidelity is top notch. Maybe that’s why there’s performance issues/frame drops. Gameplay is super fun. Exploration is fun. Spells/combat/drip is nice. Funny that the vast majority of negative reviews on steam come from people with “less than a hour played” the worst part about the game is bland movesets repetitive combat. I have well over 300 hours logged and can say this game is indeed a middleware soulslike,
Im really trying to get into it but its not an easy task, the combat turns me off so much, the game itself had great potential but hard to give it a good review when the main thing about it is flawed
@@SuperKrispySuperKreamy Im giving it another try right now, Im past pilgrims perch and the game is getting a little more enjoyable. I still dont like how you slide everywhere while attacking but maybe I need to try a different weapon
luckily they've been serious about patching the issues. most games that came out in a bad state this year got minimal effort post launch and are left with many issues remaining. I don't think that'll be the case here.
How? Every enemy is reacting and several times he knocked a boss out of an attack pattern. Normally the great hammers (what he's using) will stagger a boss every 2-3 hits.
Here's a reddit comment that explains it: "Weight" in this context refers to the audiovisual feedback of combat. It potentially means things like hit stun, screen shake, low-frequency sound. It's about "feeling" the combat, not about a metaphysical "weight" to the decisions you make, or about the complexity of the system." Go to 49:30. Does it look like he's swinging a weighty, metal hammer against solid, grounded, flesh and bone? No, it looks like he's swinging a wiffle ball bat, and the enemies are simply allergic to wiffle ball bats.
@@Ninjujitsu Yes, it does look like he's swinging a weighty hammer around because that's how something reacts when it's hit with a hammer. He's also using light attacks, heavy attacks will throw enemies back or slam them to the floor. Also this is the same kind of hit feedback that's either equal to or better than most of the souls games.
@@lich109that's BS. No, other souls games don't feel this bad. You're telling me the feeling of a parry in this game has the same effect as that in Sekiro? 🧢
@@radiantveggies9348 Sekiro is a different style of game entirely and I never brought it up, you did that in a pathetic strawman right here. As someone who played the original a whole lot to fully 100% the game I don’t appreciate this. It’s more work. And more time I’ll now have to waste 😂 nah jk
This is easily the best soulslike, no title obviously has come close to Fromsoft combat but this art direction and world interconnectivity rivals DS1. Ppl are missing out big time.
I like the game, but lies of p is better all around. I just got done playing ds2 for the first time. Still enjoying it, but shit died to so much bs
@@authentictaco8166 the complaint about enemy density in this game is unfounded and misguided IMO. Are there plenty of enemies to kill per area in this game? Sure. But the only way this would ever be a problem is if you sprint straight into the middle of an area like an idiot. This game requires a more measured approach, like scoping out an area for enemy locations before you enter, then sniping ranged enemies with magic or projectiles, then kiting away the weaker foes from the big ones, and then finally taking out the big ones. Plus there are plenty of move sets for crowd control. For instance, a long sword wielded one handed swings in wide horizontal sweeps, perfect for hitting multiple enemies at the same time. I just think it’s funny that you can watch streamers play this game, and they’ll just sprint into an area blind, get overwhelmed by enemies, and then complain about the enemy density. Maybe be a little more strategic in your approach??
I think souls-likes should avoid difficulty in numbers of enemies and focus on quality. I say that, because these games feel too easy and annoying in between bosses, all it comes down to is taking cheap damage from ambushes. After death, being aware of ambushes, exploration is a breeze.
How can a game look so great and interesting, yet being absolutely boring and without any identity at all. Nobody will remember this game unless someone brings up the name randomly
Great if you can tolerate Dark Souls 2 jank (a 2023 game that plays like one that released over a decade ago) and interesting only if you have never a played any of the Dark Souls or Blasphemous games before, cause otherwise you can immediately tell it is a just a ripoff of those two, visually and thematically.
It has a fun combat system, good art design and with horrible level design philosophy which has long runbacks where every other encounter is platforming while being ganked with ranged enemies using the same pool of like 6 enemies. Quest design was some of the worst I've seen in any game and you endgame was also horrible unless you were playing the game while reading a guide pulled up the whole time since the game would penalize you for beating bosses in 1 try. Finishing the game with the default ending was the most disappointed I've been with a game in a long time since I really wanted to like it.
so why do so many people hate this game? I think its pretty fun. I been playing it coop with my cousin and its been a pretty fun game so far. yeah its pretty easy if you coop it but i have played a tiny bit solo and its got some pretty difficult bosses and areas.
That soul flay mechanic is so useless. I don’t even understand the point of using it unless you’re trying to make an enemy fall off the edge somewhere. You only do wither damage. Why not just attack them normally? I think I only used it during the hollow crow fight and that was it.
The game looks interesting but I'll pass on this one. Burnt out on these Souls like games and this game looks tedious (especially the latern mechanic).

It's the way you talk when you're irritated and someone says to you "say it again?" for the third time. Pieta especially has some weird voice acting. The accent just doesn't fit ig and it kinda makes her cutscene a bit "cringy" for the lack of a more appropriate word
Also, I still don't find larger weapons have enough impact. Yeah, it's there, but it's really muted. Why does this 80 lbs hunk of metal I'm swinging into someone's head feel like it's a 20 lbs foam sword?
These things aren't really ruining the game and I still think it's fine, but these things are too bizarre to overlook

Someone read the review bombs before actually playing ...🤢😂
The visuals are weird, sometime game looks good and sometimes it looks like an Xbox 360 game
Im not gonna lie Pilgrim's Perch was a fucking nightmare for me to get through and I genuinely didnt want to keep going, but once I got through it I began to enjoy it a lot more and didn't feel as lost.....yet... Ive got a lot of the game left so we'll see.
Besides the mine shafts pilgrims perch was easily the most cunty piece of dog shit on gods green earth…but it didn’t last that long..well not if you just play through how you’re suppose to, I spent ages there but that’s because I was doing shit for my build
watching streamers always feel like they are speedruning every game
Variety streamers feel the need to play every new game.
Well yeah, not many people like watching someone dissect the lore and muck about for too long these days. Gotta keep the content flowing to keep the views coming and the money rising. It's completely reasonable when you think about it.
i mean it only makes sense for a variety streamer though
@@SluggedNuggwhat the...i hate when people just relates things to "money generating" bs.
Not saying you are wrong and you might be RIGHT. but some people really do not care about lore and stuff and just want combat. Im not a streamer but most of the time i skip dialogues, cutscenes and stuff.
Tiktok has melted people's brains and their attention spans are non existent now so they have to or lose attention lol
Pilgrims perch isn't gonna put new timers off imo. There's much worst early areas i can think of in other games.
4h into this game, played ds3, sekiro, elden ring and Im hooked.
Lies of P is so much better than this
Lies of P. It's no contest. This game is a mess technically and it's boring to play. People are just defending it because they preordered it without thinking and don't want to admit that they wasted $60.
Lies of p is actual dog water. Much shorter. Shittier dodge and parry mechanic and blocking was worthless. Weapon variety was ass as well

the optimization could be better but i did have fun with the game
It has improved a bit with recent patches. Overall i think its a decent game but can be annoying at times.
Idk how, but FromSoft has mastered enemy animations, they feel like every boss has been mocapped by literal monsters, i think you kinda can tell these animations are hand made especially by the quick sudden boss attacks and enemy lunges.
Maybe I'd be alot more interested in trying this game if it wasn't 120 dollars almost a month after release. games are getting way to expensive nowadays I remember when you could pick up the newest game on release for only 30 bucks and that seems like a dream now
Sail the high seas, brother!.
16:24 come on Charlie I got on headphones, you gonna do that to me….😂🙊
Damn. The whole audio's gone
Glad i wasn’t the only one that chose this class
The environments are amazing as well.
it runs like absolute shit on xbox but that's really the only issue with it right now. similar feeling to DS2, great bosses and a cool storyline. umbral mechanics are cool and new, reminds me a lot of mortal shell which isn't a bad thing at all
also the triple a price point seems a little steep for how buggy the launch was, but hopefully it gets fixed soon
Xbox issue. As usual
@@homelander2243 runs better on the series s than x too, nothing makes sense i stg

@@chick-fil-achickensandwich5403comments like this are so cringe. The game just can put and in soupposed to believed this loser in the UA-cam comment section has a well thought out opinion
For me it's the sluggish combat (anyone comparing to Bleak Faiths combat is on crack though its not nearly as bad as that), the various required use of the lantern which I find flat out annoying and the seemingly random spawning out of nowhere enemies all the damn time alot of which have projectiles. As someone else has stated the aesthetic is great but the gameplay for me is truly annoying. I don't enjoy playing the game but I don't mind watching people play it.
i dont rly understand why so many people hate this game its great soulslike imo
The game has been amazing so far. Happy to see Charlie enjoying it. This game is weirdly getting hate.
its because of performance, but im not even on a 2080 and it works perfectly. People are playing on outdated drivers and ultra graphics
Not weirdly, its getting reasonable critique. Everyone likes to just boil people not liking a game to "hate". Also boil it down to "performance issues" when there are dozens of comments reading out their gripes with the game.
Pittsburgh native 🤟🏽love to hear it
I was very opposed to this game before I ever played it. Been playing about a week now and am having a blast. Definitely a beautiful game. Graphical fidelity is top notch. Maybe that’s why there’s performance issues/frame drops.
Gameplay is super fun. Exploration is fun. Spells/combat/drip is nice.
To compare it to souls and souls-likes that’s I’ve played:
Elden Ring 10/10
Liesof P 10/10
Bloodborne 9.5/10
Lords of the Fallen 8.5/10
Demon Souls ps5 8/10
I loved them all and I want to play Ds3 next
this game looks fantastic graphically

Except not at all.
@@AKmumu I’m going to guess you stopped at pilgrims perch

Just bought this game on sale differently loving this game running a strength & radiance build with magic & another a fire build.
My only problem is wither and too many bosses being absolute speed demons and the few that aren’t are usually gimmicks
the game is good, but its 2023 so expect another performance nightmare, apology PDF and a fix it later attitude
luckily they've been serious about patching the issues. most games that came out in a bad state this year got minimal effort post launch and are left with many issues remaining. I don't think that'll be the case here.

Losing to alcohol. I know all about that. Anytime my homies hang out and watch wwe I lose that fight lmao.
why do so many of these games have such a problem with hit feedback? it looks like he's hitting the enemies with a limp piece of linguini
It's about "feeling" the combat, not about a metaphysical "weight" to the decisions you make, or about the complexity of the system."
Go to 49:30.
Other Souls games feel exactly like this or worse, even if you have a massive weapon in those games, if you just do light attacks you get the exact same kind of reaction.
Had way more fun with this game then lies of p. Solid 8/10. Also you shouldnt listen to steam reviews, cause half of them play with a gtx 970 and think they can get more then 20fps
Soo... They thought of sekiro meets dark souls. Brilliant. It seems vastly different than the first one.
Im having fun with the game, but it has some issues. The combat feels pretty unpolished and the lock on is pretty jank. Still the worlds are really cool and I love the exploration.
best priest name: Saint Fukidsalot
As someone who played the original a whole lot to fully 100% the game I don’t appreciate this.
It’s more work. And more time I’ll now have to waste 😂 nah jk
This is easily the best soulslike, no title obviously has come close to Fromsoft combat but this art direction and world interconnectivity rivals DS1. Ppl are missing out big time.
This and Lies of P are great IMO
I like the game, but lies of p is better all around. The only issue with this game is it’s like ds2 in the way that making everything hard, and more enemies everywhere, is what “souls” games are supposed to feel like.
Lies of P is by far the best. This has a shit ton of "dark souls 2 isms" all over the place.

That soul flay mechanic is so useless. I don’t even understand the point of using it unless you’re trying to make an enemy fall off the edge somewhere. You only do wither damage. Why not just attack them normally? I think I only used it during the hollow crow fight and that was it.
