- After Many... Many... Many attempts... It has finally been done.
It took me about 5 tries today. I found a little trick that helped me play though. By sticking a piece of paper over the screen so I cant see half the screen, the arrows will feel like they are going faster, and I will will be forced to read what is incoming. This was the ticket to success. I tore it off when I got to MAX. (Period) for obvious reasons however.
Ya anyways... What do you think?

As if Legend Road wasn't already hard as hell in its original form, Konami decided to torture home version players even further by adding Max Period at the end. Just because!
But not Max period expert... It has to be MAX period Oni, an 18 in the X-scale. Yeah, just because!

@@mrblackjacker32.03 the original Extreme challenge chart (not the one added in DDR 2013/2014) is more of a 14 or 15 and mainly just consists of a flipped/mirrored expert chart.

Gods I can't believe that I watched this when you released it back then. Still impressive, even by todays standards IMHO. I miss having the Challenging Mode Battery in courses.

Well a TX2000 dance pad is completely different then a actual machine's pad. It takes more technical know how and other modifications to get those working extremely well. Its also a lot harder and more time consuming, but you reap the benefits in the end, just like with my machine.

Moments like these where I love your sense of humor and sarcasm. I will say, this seems a bit easy for me but I really gotta focus for that BPM speed up for MAX. (period) should I ever play this Japanese gem of a DDR game.

Thank you very much ^_^ Anthony was telling me about those long lines for Taiko at that con I thought that was pretty funny. At Youma I could walk up to most of the game and play them after waiting a few minutes usually. It was nice, but I think I scared most people away from DDR. :P oops

Damn kon, i can never match up to you on the CS versions/AC (well mainly due to me having sucky soft mats) but i manage with them.

Of course, there are people who have almost AAA'd the entire set now. I could probably get very close to full comboing it myself now.
I heard that trick of hidding part of the screen before, I think it helps a lot

@SkyyLegend The game was on default settings on the game except for the background videos. Even if you change the difficulty on the game it only affects how fast the bar will go down thus does not affect challenge mode at all.

No this is DDR EXTREME for PS2. Its the Japanese version so the arcade ones are there.

@xkonsentox well youve got a couple years on me for DDR, but maybe i just need to grow more because i pick out the smallest details in the beat, i run, i have stamina, its just my feet dont move sometimes.

@cruisn4evur I dont play at home anymore. That pad is possible to plug in via USB... But I don't and won't. I only use stepmania on the keyboard for practice for songs on DDR, and it usually only to get gimmicks, stops and BPM changes down correctly.

Ah, I was wondering why no one used sudden+ because I see all the IIDX guys using it. Also, nope I wasn't at Youmacon, they were at Animazement though which is much closer to my hometown. idk if it was true for Youmacon, but there was a much longer line for Taiko and Popn at Animazement than for DDR so I would have been able to play if I put more time into it. I was too absorbed into learning IIDX though. GJ on the videos btw, they are fun to watch ^^.

O_o, I feel so behind now, last arcade version I played was extreme. I didn't get a chance to try the X3 cabinets when bemani invasion was at a con I was at.

Go download it for StepMania (if you have it) and play it using a USB-connected pad

@fisher4930 I have been playing for nearly 8 years. You just get used to the beat, play the way you like, and run to increase your stamina. Stepmania for complex songs works very well also.
Well considering I have never weighed over 140 pounds in my life, I would say its the pad. :P I modified its interior to be extremely sensitive.

I have the same pads (Championship) but I cant seen to get them to register right, as in accuracy. Do you do anything to them cause i heard tin foil under the sensors work better but doesn't seem to
Hey man! This is silly for me to reply on such an old comment. But I recently stumbled on a pad identical to this for cheap without the associated control box. Before I tear it apart and make a custom one, do you know if I can buy a control box that works with this pad today? Or at least the name of what I should look for? The pad has no evidence of branding (but looks identical to this, to the T) and doesn't work with my buddy's control box for a different but similar pad. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
@iamchris4lifefan11 Ya. I was trying to AAA it to add to my youtube videos. I got as far as the speedup with all perfects. I ended with 5 Greats. I will never get another perfect run like that at the beginning. Its just too hard to Perfect Attack.

i have trained for many years but i cant get to the point of AA and AAA every song i do and i barely pass the Max songs and i fail some of the 10ft songs still. for the past year i feel like my skills have gotten nowhere, how did you get so good

how do you have the ddr official courses? isn't that an stepmania or is DDR Extreme ps2 version?

Whered you get that pad? Ive been looking (admittedly not TERRIBLY hard, but still) for one thats not a stupid cheap fold up plastic one that the stupid button sensor things get out of place in... That one looks like pretty good quality while still looking cheap enough to be in my price range...

It doesn't include max period since it's on the arcade, but nevertheless it's still legend road no bar pass.
Max period Oni mode is a slightly deceptive 9 footer. Heavy is a 10.
