    Josh, you do a good job in your videos on the Extar EP9 and I enjoy shooting mine also The only problems I had were failure to feed instances caused by weak after market springs in some mags I bought. Since Wolff extra power springs are on back order, I simply stretched the mag springs and have had no problems since then. My wife prefers her AR9 16" barreled rifle because she can get more accuracy while shooting at 100 yards. Live long and free!

      From the Extar website: "The EP9 has a proprietary receiver extension (buffer tube) that only accepts some SB Tactical Pistol Braces. The compatible braces are the SB-Mini, SBL, SBM4, SOB, SBX-K, or the SBV." The SB Tactical SOB is what they provide with the EP9, already installed.

    I wanna see one of those Glock 50 round drums used on this. The maker is out of stock on these pistols.

    • @MolnarPohdap
      @MolnarPohdap 4 роки тому

      There's a UA-cam video about someone trying the 50 round drum on the EP9. His conclusion: it works, but only about 80% of the time. That must be why the Extar website specifically recommends using nothing more than a 33 round mag. As for Extar being out of stock: they restock in small quantities once a week, but at unpredictable days and times. It's best to sign up for their email notifications, then to check your email for these as often as you can every day (except weekends). Extar told me that they always sell out within an hour, even just half an hour, every time -- so you have to jump on it. I created an account with them on their website, entering my address etc ahead of time to speed up the purchase process when the time came.

    *Caution*
    Extar EP9 received with a broken hammer. I contacted customer service which is a joke.
    They replied, "we don't have this happen". Sold thousands without this problem. News flash... that doesn't take away the fact that I have a broken weapon.
    I waited patiently for a gun that is usually out of stock. Finally ordered and when it arrived it rattled inside. Gun dealer opened it up to find that the hammer was actually broken into.
    Extar customer service would not help the situation at all.
    I was going to have around 500.00 to 550.00 in a 400.00 weapon after the time it took to correct their mistake. Usually, customer service would try to help the situation by offering something for my trouble. Nope, not this company. Not even a 35.00 charging handle. Just an idea, which she couldn't even come up with herself. Anne is her name for future reference. She actually got upset with me when I suggested that they should compensate me for their mistake. Her response was, "we can't just start issuing checks". I didn't even ask for anything imparticular.
    I wanted to warn someone of this bad bad customer service. The sad thing is that I really wanted the gun. It would have been fun and probably worth the 400.00, but not 550.00.

    From the Extar FAQ :
    Please avoid Ruag ammunition including their brands Norma and Geco. They are now using thin primers that will cause problems in direct-blowback firearms. We recommend that our customers only use brass cased or steel cased ammunition from name brands in your EP9. Due to the direct blowback design of the EP9, always avoid aluminum cased and reloaded/re-manufactured ammunition. For economical and reliable performance, Tula Steel Cased ammo through genuine Glock magazines, we recommend highly. We do not recommend +P ammunition.

      NFA-ARMS dot COM has those for $557 right now. I was going to buy one but bought all the New Frontier Armory components at my latest gun show. I lucked out that they had all of the parts at different vendors and pieced it together. Had I seen the online one first I would've saved a few hundred dollars.

      Mark Dumas...I have the FX-9. It's a high quality pistol. Fit and finish are excellent and it has performed with all types of ammo and several glock style mags with no problems. I might have gone with this extar because of the weight difference but overall, I'm happy with it.

      It can be used anyway you want. For now. If dumbasses keep calling it a carbine, maybe someday the ATF will decide it is indeed a carbine. This is a pistol with a brace. Period.

    I'm so paranoid that Extar will change this design before I can buy my first one. I should buy four of these guys and wear them out one by one. I didn't know you could get it in different calibers. For the price and quality, this thing beats the shit out of that Ruger PC Charger. I just hope those 30 round mags stay solid in the mag well. My Ruger PC carbine didn't like the longer sticks. They wiggled like a loose tooth.

  • @thearchitect817
    @thearchitect817 6 років тому

    Please tell me you guys are just really bad shots and the extar isn’t the culprit of that 18-20 inch groupings from 10-15 yards!
    I’m wondering this because if the extar is inconsistent I won’t buy it. Also, the bolt sounds kind of grainy when you were charging it for example.
    And finally, what’s the purpose of that high rise rail and then using that holosun reticle over a basic reflex?

    • @joshv06
      @joshv06  6 років тому

      We never shot for accuracy. We simply shot 300 rounds as a stress test. We were just blasting away. The high rail houses the higher bolt to maintain a high bolt weight (taller vs longer). I never oiled the gun. I started the stress test right out of the box. that's why it sounds that way.

      @@EvendimataE we shot 300 rounds as explained in the video. Considering I had 3 total extars to shoot, I that's 900 rounds between the 3. They dont generate a lot of heat, so it's my belief that they are rock solid due to their genius designs. They are basically refined AR9's.
