      @@tonyfeng4780 its because of the limiting 36v battery. the joyor x5 has the same motor but with a 48v battery. it would easily make that hill

    This was on Indiegogo at the same time as the InMotion L9 and I am so glad I went with the InMotion L9 as it is way better in all departments. The Splach does look nice and seems pretty compact though the poor hill climbing performance really sucks!

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I will say that the Inmotion L9 definitely did better at climbing hills, though it also suffered from overheating more. Both are pretty nice and I hope you enjoy your Inmotion L9! 👽🖖

    The scooter looks amazing but the hill climbing uncertainty and the small deck is a bit of a deal breaker if you live in a city with hills and wear over 11 shoes 😢

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it's definitely not going to climb any hills quickly... Nice little commuter though if you don't have hills.

    personally i dont think getting a 36v scooter is worth unless you are doing very short commutes. if you ware in the 120-160 weight class you can do well with 36v but going from 170 and up is when it starts to show its wekaness. 170- 220 you should look at 48v scooters since they will work better and give you excellent range. for anyone past 230 either a dual motor 48v or a 52v scooter is what you should aim for. thats just my hot take cause ive owned the es4 and it got me 12 miles, i got a joyor x5 which is 48v and reliably got 20 miles. Now i have the splach turbo scooter and i get about the same as the joyor but able to climb the hills i live around much easier without having to kick

      Such a hard call, all of those are great options, including the turbowheel swift from ewheels as well. I gotta say I'm liking the splach in this power range, so I might have to recommend that one, unless you have a lot of hills in your area. Good luck with your decision!

    I wouldn't go with this company. My friend bought one from them and had a few problem. The company even grayed out his negative comments on their funding page, which I find VERY unprofessional. I guess they don't want anyone else to know about the flaws with this scooter.
    Here is what I find disturbing compared:
    -the speedometer is way different than what is shown in this video.
    -my friend had sent them a video of their charging power supply with a infrared reading from 109 to 143 degree fahrenheit. The company reply back said it's normal, without ANY evidence to back it up.
    -the rear led light were installed improperly which the company had ask my friend to fix himself to which he finds impossible due to the wires were glued short to the battery chassis.
    -company first blames on FedEx about the cracked speedometer when it's clearly due to the lack of packaging of the speedometer.
    -when many users complaint it the speed that this scooter claims to get, the company releases a video claiming the actual speed by putting the scooter revving up to its speed off the ground.... WITHOUT ANYONE or weight on it. What a joke!
    And after comparing my Segway Ninebot Max to my friend's Splach, the workmanship and quality of the Splach looks rushed and unfinished.
    They'll only kiss your a$$ if you're complimenting their product. Otherwise, you'll get nothing good in return.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому

      Thanks for sharing your findings, these are good things to look out for in any scooter. I think I have definitely seen cracked speedometers on a lot of scooters, generally due to it not being loose and not enough packaging, they should send you a replacement if that happens. I think the heat on the charger is pretty normal.
      Besides that, the other points are definitely concerning. Sorry to hear about the problems your friend has.

    Great review! Just have a few comments! As another commenter mentioned, the Orange is the Turbo and the Blue is the Ranger but early adopters had the option to request a color and model. Later adopters only had the option of model and the color was standard. I have the Turbo myself. Not a bad scooter but I will say that the motor ratings they have on their site are also inaccurate. The Ranger had a 350W motor with a 20A controller and 36V battery. The Turbo has a 600W motor with a 25A controller and 52V battery. As for the weight, expect it to be about 5-7 lbs heavier than advertised. I'm a big fan of the riding comfort on this scooter. Looks great, amazing suspension but if you're looking for speed or range I would look elsewhere. Based on personal experience and others experiences, you should expect about 21-23mph for the Ranger on average in Sport mode. You should expect 22-24mph for the Turbo in sport mode. After about 5 miles on the Turbo in sport mode the performance drops and you can only get to about 20mph. I am 160lbs for reference. Can probably get up to 10-12 miles on the Turbo in 3rd gear (Sport)

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому +3

      Appreciate your comment and great insight into this scooter. I got the ranger version as shown by the 36 volt charger, but it sounds like the colors don't really indicate the model, unless they've changed things. Yeah, you're a bit lighter than I am so you would probably get a bit higher speed and range out of the scooter. Ride safe! 👽🖖

    I have this scooter. I was number 500 something. I like it. First things first .. you messed up in the commentary .. you have the turbo, which is orange. The blue is the ranger . The 1st people who paid, they had a choice of colors, but the rest of us got ORANGE for turbo and BLUE for ranger. I like mine .. upgraded from a segway ninebot max.
    Before seeing your entire video, I'm gonna say this .. the suspension, I love it! It's really tested and true. The speed, although I didn't get it to go superfast, but I like to have a choice when I need to get away from a situation to avoid an accident or something, they gave a higher rating then it really is. Many backers are not happy about this.
    The company, at least the social media side, they are very censored in that .. if you say anything they don't like, they'll block you from the group, delete your comments, and turn off commenting. Censoring isn't right, at all! They only want good comments, they agree with. Anyone asking questing, or wondering how to work something, any adviceagainst their way, they delete.
    Hopefully your review is really objective.

    • @kieranh2005
      @kieranh2005 4 роки тому +1

      Design evolution is like natural evolution in some ways
      Theres only so many ways that you can design something to do a particular job successfully. Over time, the less successful (either don't do the job as well, or do but cost more) designs are whittled down to a few that are left. Considering that e-scooters are only the latest in a series of two wheeled vehicles with suspension, they had plenty of historical designs to test in this new platform.
      For rear suspension, theres the swingarm. No design on motorcycles, bicycles or scooters can beat it for its combination of sideways rigidity, vertical movement, suspension control and compactness.
      For front there are a few with telescopic forks, a few with girder forks but the majority seem to use the trailing link design as used in this scooter.
      Unlike some of the other platforms, compactness of the package in functioning and folded condition is very important. The trailing link allows this, at the expense of deck length for a given wheelbase because the pivoting mechanism and shock are behind the wheel. It's also simpler to build with less pieces.
      I am designing my own scooter with a girder fork. 'Cos reasons. According to my drawings, it will be quite a bit bulkier than the trailing link type, particularly when folded, but maximizes the deck length for a given overall, as the pivoting arms and shock are in front of the steering head.
      I am going for cruising comfort over folded compactness.

    • @mrmeepmeep1240
      @mrmeepmeep1240 4 роки тому +1

      Look at it this way if you want your product to be cheaper to make and sell them you are not going to invest in a big pile of cash for a new design and find a factory to manufacture it will cost time and lots of money, so if you see lots of scooters that look alike it's a good thing for us consumer means it will be more affordable for the rest. I believe their next generation of splash scooter will be faster and heavier if people are fine with paying an extra of $300-$500 for a better battery and bigger tires.

    Very nice video, with beautiful footage and useful info and toughts! The only 1 thing to consider, though, is that, for me, the whole purpose of having a dual motor scooter is for higher torque and therefore a higher hill climb capability. So, at least in the case of the ranger model, for me it doesn't make any sense! If you live in a flat area there are tons of single motor scooters cappable of hitting 30+ mph, and they are probably going to be cheaper!

    All those claims are false... he got half the claimed mileage range ... I'm sure he's around 230-250 since he looks tall n heavy.... 17miles isn't bad for a $500 scooter but this is $800 ... of he got 17miles on the Ranger imagine what he will get the the other model w shorter range... 3miles speed and 300 wattage differences isn't worth the upgrade with such a small battery which seems weird and stupid to have the better model less battery since bigger motor needs bigger battery... the Ranger not powerful enough motor for heavier people... turbo battery too small for range .... so neither of these are worth the $850 and $915 pricing w tax included...

    Regarding the battery life and range of PEVs, this issue seems to be on track to change dramatically in the next few years. Yesterday I read in the news that NDB a California energy company is making batteries from nuclear wast that are said to last years without needing a recharge and can fit into any form factor! If all works out we can expect to see PEV's with basically unlimited battery life. Anyone what to go cross country?

    I really love the design. It's not a revolution, as we can see this (Splasch Turbo) is a Zero 8 with the design of the Zero 10X. So if we compare the Turbo with the Zero 8, it seems that the Zero 8 is a little bit faster and will take hills a little bit better. But, due to the design, the Zero 8 is not as comfortable as the Splasch.
    I've almost fall for the Splasch, but in the end, if we compare the price, the Zero 8 seems still a better bargain.

    Hola, hace unos días empecé a usar este SPLACH TURBO, me gustaría que me explicaras paso por paso como puedo llegar a la velocidad de 45 km/h, porque a lo mas mucho que ha llegado es a 37 km/h poniéndolo en Gear 3 que supuestamente es la velocidad máxima, por favor ayúdame, o será que las compañías engañan a los clientes para que así compren, mostrando buenas especificaciones del producto

      Sadly I think it does not go much faster, but I don't own the turbo version. Hopefully someone can chime in who owns the scooter.

    4:53 does faster charging damage the battery?

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому

      Been fast charging for years and haven't noticed much of a change, maybe it does slightly, but I think it takes so long to do any real damage it's not worth worrying about 👽🖖

      @@AlienRides Thanks. Are drum brakes are more reliable and requires less repairs than disk brakes?

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому

      @@erikkison I'd say yeah that's probably true, but it's easier to maintain brake disks, changing the brake pads is pretty simple.

      Alien Rides That’s true but when you are on the road you don’t always have tools and break pads handy to do repairs.

      @AlienRides  4 роки тому +1

      Tumen Odnuud not 100% sure tbh, I don’t think it was super steep or anything, maybe 10% or so.
