The Ayahuasca Era: How Neal Brennan Finally Found Joy (And God) | PTFO

  • For all of the Aaron Rodgers-ization of psychedelics, they remain revolutionary, and the co-creator of Chapelle's Show turned standup comic has the ultimate endorsement: Sure, Amazonian plant tea might make you cry for two hours after drinking it with Chris Rock. But ayahuasca is a mental-health medicine that will also help you fall in love and, you know, feel the presence of God. So relax about the throwing up. Fear not the toad venom, and embrace the white void before the Big Bang. Ignore the football players yammering about "ego death," and consider the possibilities of a road-to-Damascus experience. Or not.

I’ve never trusted any celeb more than Neal. He is so smart and so truthfully peaceful, even before his experience. The way he speaks is soothing and comes from a place of journalistic integrity and respect for humanity. He’s top notch

Somebody needs to tell Neil that Bofo or 5meoDMT is not DMT. They are different substances with different experiences.

Daniel Mackler, former therapist, has a yt video on ayahuasca for an interesting listen. His belief is that healing is an inside job.

This episode felt very Mad Libs-esque to me. But I understood the point of it and I’m glad that Neal took a chance on the medicine. Seems like it’s really helped.

I went thru depression 5 years by just living with it, and it sucked. Retirement, injury, covid, no more substances, yadda yadda. Then I just got interested in things that were different, and some kind of placebo took effect. I'm not depressed now, and that is enough.

Use LSD 25 peyote and mushrooms I found that there is some knowledge you gather from these medicines, but I’ve also had some bad experiences with this medicine so at your own risk for me, I did see God but I can’t guarantee that would be for everybody

I've done acid a bunch of times and really enjoy it. I did DMT once, not the toad shit, and it was too intense and my body rejected it. Only lasted about 5 minutes.
I don't think the creative source that Neil is talking about is God. I think it's present in the natural world in every living thing. I come out of my acid trips believing that aliens and other consciousness exists, because I've seen how different perception can be, and not just senses, but thoughts and feelings as well. It does make me more compassionate and believe more in my socialist values.
Maybe that's God, but I think of it more like proof of how small our life is in the realm of the earth, universe,, galaxy, etc. String theory also makes more sense to me after acid. We are just one iteration of the infinite possibilities of existence.

@@dakidfromhaiti I should've clarified, I meant accessible financially to the average person. I'm a short drive away from LA so I know it's within reach but is it within reach of my wallet😂 but your overall point is correct, I'll just do some research myself

Anyone with empathy for living things can see that stressing a toad to repeatedly excrete it's life-or-death defense venom is exploitation and abuse. What will the unintended consequences be to the ecosystem? Leave the toad alone - that's the first step in your healing journey. Can you think of other groups/religious profession that exploited others to get their fix?

The whole 'ego death' thing was just one nutjob's label for what happened while taking way too much acid. It's not useful to go into these experiences with someone else's silly far-out meme phrases in mind. They don't describe what a trip is in any way

Why is Pablo's vernacular always so ostentatious and grandiose? It's as if he is constantly entangled with a kind of personal imposter syndrome that he can never fully conquer, and thus proliferates his speech with lofty expressions in a fruitless toil to overcome it. Not unlike the Greek tragedy of Sisyphus, continually rolling the boulder up a hill... yet eternally doomed for it to always roll back down.

This is either superfluous sarcasm or an ironic display of projection that takes a Herculean like lack of self awareness to accomplish, at any rate any attempt at a comedic reaction fell flat at least Pablo has a lucrative media career to show for his logophilia, what have you gained from this sesquipedalian comment?
