Every game is fun is different ways for everybody, but BMW just had way more reasons and more to offer which automatically made it GOTY period. After you beat BMW there’s is still 30+ hours of content in the game! Plus it’s first month having 10 million sales/players while astrobot only sold 1.5 million is just common sense for BMW to win. Black Myth Wukong is TOO BIG for GOTY of TGA, way beyond and above it. BMW is a historical phenomena in any and all aspects! BWM is a masterpiece which has set the new standards to measure any new games from now and onwards. BMW does not need the title, it has already won the CROWN in people's hearts.
You have devs that made a game that was inspired by Mario, the King of Platformers, make a Super Mario Galaxy 2 essentially for PlayStation, and people are surprised that it won GOTY. If Nintendo made a Super Mario Galaxy 2 with the polish of Astro Bot, the results would've been the same. Wu Kong is great. Played it myself on the Ps5 as well along with Rebirth, SOTET and Metaphor which I very much enjoyed and put above Wu Kong. Astro Bot however just did everything flawless, no issues, fun and enjoyable throughout the entirety of all 80 worlds. Wu Kong felt slow starting off and didn't pick up until the 3rd part of the game. 2nd part was decent but performance issues hit hard. SOTET is DLC and doesn't do anything different from the base game of Elden Ring at all. Metaphor is great starting out but towards the end you can tell it was rushed and the story started slipping. Not to mention some of the Archetypes are flat out useless. Rebirth was great but had bloated minigames that would've been fine left out not to mention the performance issues as well. Idk anything about Balatro other than it's a damn good game. Never played it though.

Astro bot is not even in the same league with BMW. Astro bot is a fun game at its best that is all people can say about it. But people have a lot more to talk about BMW, a masterpiece of a combination of fun, art, music, story, combat, aesthetics, cinematic experience, teachings and inspiration. When I first saw Balatro get nominated for Game of the Year, I freaked the fuck out, because indie games getting nominated for that is a bit strange, considering that majority of titles that are put in there are usually AAA games. But it also taught me something - Geoff and the TGA committee are becoming aware of the power and success that indie games can have, considering that it's a genre that has been well and truly beyond what it's capable of since the start of this decade and is only getting better day by day, especially when you look at the indie games that got nominated this year as well! I hope they keep bringing these games to the spotlight, because small successes and projects like these can not only set someone up for life, but inspire aspiring game developers to pursue their ideas and not feel like they need to work at a company to make something great. As for Astro Bot, I do think that it's deserving of all of the awards, but I'm also on the fence of Wukong being robbed because the player's choice award said enough... The sales were high, it became the most played single-player game in the world and many content creators and reviewers praised this game for... well, pretty much everything. It was also my vote for GOTY, so not seeing it win made me disappointed, but if Astro Bot winning has taught me anything, it's that western developers need to step their shit up and start producing greatness that doesn't involve taking money out of people's pockets, but rather something that's just... fun. Space Marine 2 is probably the best example of a game that's well worth the price tag, as you get 3 full-fledged game modes, all which can be played with friends alongside a roadmap of content, all FREE and only has cosmetics that are optional and aren't pay to win. Wukong and Astro Bot are both fun games, and I don't think there's a right or wrong in this situation. Give us more games like Space Marine 2, and I'll be happy. Arguing over both of these games for GOTY is just silly to me. BG3 last year though? Different story, it was THE game to rule 2023 by a longshot.

I don't think Black Myth deserved game of the year at all imo, I played the game and by the end it felt like a chore playing, especially when trying to fight the final hidden boss. The upgrades felt weak, the moves repetitive, and the character wasn't relatable or even interesting. I felt like I was just trying to enjoy it rather than it being unavoidably fun. All in all it's still a good game, but Shadow of the Erdtree was better and it was only a DLC, I haven't played Astro Bot 2 but the first one was actually pretty fun to the point I even wanted to get the platinum trophy and did. I've heard nothing but great things about the 2nd, and it getting game of the year now convinced me to want to buy it but I think it'll probably be free on PS+ eventually anyway. Just my thoughts anywho, nice video otherwise
I don't think astro bot is a better game than Super Mario Odessey, it's not that innovative, the game length is short (only a few hours), and it's expensive for what it is, and it's ps5 exclusive, also it's key feature is only for a specific controller. It is a fun "family game", but I don't think a game that only takes a few hours to beat deserves a goty. I mean just compare astrobot to previous goty games, in terms of size and sales, it just doesn't feel right. astrobot only sold 1.5m copies. while previous goty like bg3, elden ring, sekiro, god of war all sold over 10 million or evenn 20 million copies, and they all take a large sum of hours to beat, and have very good replayability. It takes two is sort of similiar but it was innovative and changed the gaming industry, while being way more famous and sold wayyy more copies than astrobot. All and all astrobot is a good game, but it's size and sales, nor does it's innovation align with "goty". I do also believe Black Myth Wukong is not as impressive as elden ring and sekiro during their year, but considering the other games that came out this year, I say it's the tallest among a bunch of midgets. It's the only game in that nominee list that has a huge size, huge sale number, and a very good reputation among players (excluding dlc and remakes, and elden ring's dlc reputation wasn't the greatest compared to it's main game) The fact that most people (including streamers) never heard of the game or never played the game before the gaming award already says a lot, you can not tell me a game is so good that it deserve goty when your average joe dooesn't even know the game exists. While most of the previous gotys were so famous in their year that even non-gamers know their existence and watched videos of them. I'm not a conspiracy lover but this year's tga is fraud is a fair statement, considering who's voting in the council, sony's relationship with tga, and they added dlc and remakes in the nominee's this year, and the fact that bmw not only didn't win goty, while aslo only won 1 side award. Considering how much hate bmw got from medias, and got rated lower than astrobot by medias on release. Things only adds up, they don't want china to take a piece of cake in triple A market, and they don't like when a company refuse to be DEI.

There is a reason why Astro bot only sold 1.5 million but Wukong sold 20 million with 96% positive on Steam, 95% on Google users, and 4.49 on PSN. Awarded as GOTY from multiple game awards around the world, and People's Choice at the TGA, supported and voted by top game streamers who played both Astrobot and Wukong.
Astro bot is not even in the same league with BMW. Astro bot is a fun game at its best that is all people can say about it. But people have a lot more to talk about BMW, a masterpiece of a combination of fun, art, music, story, combat, aesthetics, cinematic experience, teachings and inspiration. BMW should have won Game of the Year.
Exactly, my whole family from my parents to my baby nephews played and loved astrobot and I’m sure I’m not the only household with that experience. These people cannot comprehend that other people like things more than the things they like

@ quality wise, Astro bot got Black Myth beat. Bad technically performing game should not be rewarded game of the year. And black my technically was horrible on the PS5.

When I first saw Balatro get nominated for Game of the Year, I freaked the fuck out, because indie games getting nominated for that is a bit strange, considering that majority of titles that are put in there are usually AAA games. But it also taught me something - Geoff and the TGA committee are becoming aware of the power and success that indie games can have, considering that it's a genre that has been well and truly beyond what it's capable of since the start of this decade and is only getting better day by day, especially when you look at the indie games that got nominated this year as well! I hope they keep bringing these games to the spotlight, because small successes and projects like these can not only set someone up for life, but inspire aspiring game developers to pursue their ideas and not feel like they need to work at a company to make something great.
As for Astro Bot, I do think that it's deserving of all of the awards, but I'm also on the fence of Wukong being robbed because the player's choice award said enough... The sales were high, it became the most played single-player game in the world and many content creators and reviewers praised this game for... well, pretty much everything. It was also my vote for GOTY, so not seeing it win made me disappointed, but if Astro Bot winning has taught me anything, it's that western developers need to step their shit up and start producing greatness that doesn't involve taking money out of people's pockets, but rather something that's just... fun. Space Marine 2 is probably the best example of a game that's well worth the price tag, as you get 3 full-fledged game modes, all which can be played with friends alongside a roadmap of content, all FREE and only has cosmetics that are optional and aren't pay to win. Wukong and Astro Bot are both fun games, and I don't think there's a right or wrong in this situation. Give us more games like Space Marine 2, and I'll be happy. Arguing over both of these games for GOTY is just silly to me. BG3 last year though? Different story, it was THE game to rule 2023 by a longshot.
to be fair, if you look at the rest of the nominees of players choice, they are all gacha games, it makes sense for GOTY to not be based on Players choice

I don't think Black Myth deserved game of the year at all imo, I played the game and by the end it felt like a chore playing, especially when trying to fight the final hidden boss. The upgrades felt weak, the moves repetitive, and the character wasn't relatable or even interesting. I felt like I was just trying to enjoy it rather than it being unavoidably fun. All in all it's still a good game, but Shadow of the Erdtree was better and it was only a DLC, I haven't played Astro Bot 2 but the first one was actually pretty fun to the point I even wanted to get the platinum trophy and did. I've heard nothing but great things about the 2nd, and it getting game of the year now convinced me to want to buy it but I think it'll probably be free on PS+ eventually anyway. Just my thoughts anywho, nice video otherwise
I don't think astro bot is a better game than Super Mario Odessey, it's not that innovative, the game length is short (only a few hours), and it's expensive for what it is, and it's ps5 exclusive, also it's key feature is only for a specific controller. It is a fun "family game", but I don't think a game that only takes a few hours to beat deserves a goty. I mean just compare astrobot to previous goty games, in terms of size and sales, it just doesn't feel right. astrobot only sold 1.5m copies. while previous goty like bg3, elden ring, sekiro, god of war all sold over 10 million or evenn 20 million copies, and they all take a large sum of hours to beat, and have very good replayability. It takes two is sort of similiar but it was innovative and changed the gaming industry, while being way more famous and sold wayyy more copies than astrobot. All and all astrobot is a good game, but it's size and sales, nor does it's innovation align with "goty". I do also believe Black Myth Wukong is not as impressive as elden ring and sekiro during their year, but considering the other games that came out this year, I say it's the tallest among a bunch of midgets. It's the only game in that nominee list that has a huge size, huge sale number, and a very good reputation among players (excluding dlc and remakes, and elden ring's dlc reputation wasn't the greatest compared to it's main game) The fact that most people (including streamers) never heard of the game or never played the game before the gaming award already says a lot, you can not tell me a game is so good that it deserve goty when your average joe dooesn't even know the game exists. While most of the previous gotys were so famous in their year that even non-gamers know their existence and watched videos of them. I'm not a conspiracy lover but this year's tga is fraud is a fair statement, considering who's voting in the council, sony's relationship with tga, and they added dlc and remakes in the nominee's this year, and the fact that bmw not only didn't win goty, while aslo only won 1 side award. Considering how much hate bmw got from medias, and got rated lower than astrobot by medias on release. Things only adds up, they don't want china to take a piece of cake in triple A market, and they don't like when a company refuse to be DEI.

Whether wukong is robbed or not but definitely western gaming award company has lost all their credibility.
China shouldn't keep hope from this company. They should keep creating games for the people. That's it.
I will nether purchase nor Play any Western games from today. They are so jealous of China's game science.
