Snow Leopard: Beyond the Myth (2008)
A secret cave deep within the mountains of Pakistan is one of the last refuges of the snow leopard - the rarest and most beautiful of all the big cats. Journalist Nisar Malik has decided to use his news skills to help promote and protect this highly endangered species. Each year generations of snow leopards have returned to the mountains to raise their young. Harsh seasons force this predator and its prey to the lower reaches of the valleys where Nisar follows their hunting, feeding and mating behaviours. For Nisar, this is a journey of discovery in which he finds beauty and peace in a place that he previously portrayed as dangerous and evil. For the viewer, the film offers a journey into a misrepresented and unknown part of the world.

@TanNguyen-xn6mp they were like a pack of hyenas, relentless! 😅
Magpies - they tend pick ticks off of snow leopards.
Evolved dinosaurs? :)
So interesting! Snow leopards are also extremely hard to catch on camera. Because it isn't easy to film at an altitude of 5,000m, but our camera crew work their way to capture footage of a snow leopard mom, and her two cubs giving unique insights into their family life. It's really adorable, but also thrilling.

What a majestic cat it's crazy how camouflaged she is alongside the mountain
*The majestic cat's camouflage against the backdrop of the mountain is truly mesmerizing. It is astonishing how seamlessly she blends into her environment, showcasing the remarkable adaptations of nature. This level of camouflage demonstrates the cat's evolutionary advantage as a stealthy predator. The beauty lies not only in her regal presence but also in the hidden power and grace that she possesses.*

Snow Leopard's are my absolute favorite wild animal. My #1. I love their eyes, the coats, the secretiveness they have about them. The way they can run up and down those mountains is amazing. I have seen them tackle goats and both go falling down the mountain hitting rocks and boulders and tree's and you just know they are both gonna be dead by the time they hit the bottom but nope, the leopard landed on top of the goat and he dragged it off to eat it. They are amazing cats.
Mine also. Years and years ago I was riding my dirt bike on a trail in Northern Michigan. Crested a hill and an animal was sitting on the trail about 100 feet away. Stopped my bike a realized it was a Bobcat. Only saw him or her for a few moments as it slipped into the woods. Really rare for anyone to see one. A treasured moment.
@@couchwarrior7207 When I first started reading your comment I thought you were going to say when you came across a snow leopard. LOL.. I have come across cougars and bobcats when I lived in WVa. We pulled off the side of the road one day and just watched it just lay on a rock checking out his area I guess or scanning for pray. Also had one come into my yard once. I have seen all the big cats except for my favorite one. No zoo I have ever been to had a snow leopard. I don't know why they didn't. I wish is to see one some up close. That is one of my big dreams. Im sure its never going to happen but I can hope lol
Neat you got see those. The zoo in Washington DC has a couple. At least about 5 years ago or so.@@beccac6451
Despite its incredible speed n agility, those adult mountain goats escape most of the time as the r faster n more agile on the steep n rocky mountain slopes
i was laughing so much when those birds were trolling the cat xd
*The playful interaction between the birds and the cat was indeed amusing. Their antics and teasing created a lighthearted and comical scene. It's fascinating to observe such behavior in the animal kingdom, where even different species engage in playful interactions. Moments like these remind us of the diverse and intriguing dynamics that exist in nature.*

I just want these beautiful leopards to thrive & survive till the end of time 🙏
The Intelligence of this creature to roll on a dirt to cover up it's scent is remarkable.
I hope things go well here because these collars have been linked to causing wounds and infections in big cats before. Project Cheetah in South Africa had 8 cheetahs die from infected wounds around their collar, so they're apparently not as harmless as they appear...
А что можно сделать, чтоб не цеплять на несчастных животных эти ошейники?
For the longest time, cheetahs were my favourite big cat. Now it's snow leopard. They are just incredible.
You seen the clouded leopard?
Cheetahs are not big cats
Not gonna lie, when she rolled on her back, it would’ve been difficult to resist the urge to risk it all and give belly rubs. What a magnificent and beautiful Snow Leopard.
I just have long haired cat which was adopted from the street, so for most part he's an outdoor cat during the warm days and depressed cat during cold Canadian winter. The rolling in the ground was a surprise for me. Our cat does it sometimes when he sees me. I wish long and happy life her - beautiful creature.
Beautiful animals in a beautiful place, Gilgit Pakistan
I witnessed a snow leopard right before me, in Afghanistan. I can still recall being 14 years old at the time. It was a year of heavy snowfall, and due to the excessive snow in the mountains, they perhaps couldn't find enough food. As a result, they descended into the village and managed to get into a flock of sheep through a roof window. Regrettably, the villagers had to use a gun to shoot one of them. It was a heartbreaking incident, but it illustrates how people in that region rely on domestic animals for their survival.
Such remarkable animals. I hope the future will be good to them 😊

This is my top tier favourite big cat ever ❤
The way the leopard rolls is so adorable lol. You can see Pallas's cats do it too🧡
*Their ability to blend seamlessly into the snowy terrain, combined with their calculated movements, allows them to get close to their target undetected*
Amazing goats and cats running on the cliffs no problem. Also funny, the birds taunt the cat, why? 😄
They probably wanted some of the meat next to the snow leopard, so they try to annoy it and make it chase one of them away or just overall give up to the annoyance and move on.
*The agile goats and cats effortlessly navigating the cliffs is truly amazing to witness. Their innate abilities allow them to traverse challenging terrains with ease. As for the birds taunting the cat, it's likely a playful interaction or an instinctual response. Birds often exhibit territorial behavior, and their teasing might be a way of asserting dominance or simply engaging in playful behavior.*

Subhan Allah.. amazing 😮
I wonder who made that local say the cat is happy about wearing that thick ass collar?😂
It's very interesting to know the snow leopards' strategy to hunt. Also interesting to expose that the collar is useful to demonstrate that the snow leopards prefer savage animals instead of domestic goats.
Very good documentary film. We would like to go there in any moment to film a snow leopard for our UA-cam channel.
Very good job. Thanks!
Silly remarks
The magpies were quite persistent in their bold attempts to steal a bite or two from the leopard's kill.
What a truly magnificent animal.....
GOD how I LOVE Snow leopards!!!!!!
*With a combination of stealth, patience, and agility, it employs a highly strategic approach to capture its prey. The snow leopard relies on its exceptional camouflage and keen eyesight to stalk its target silently.*
It would be a lot better if the collar were the same color as the leopard's skin.
In Kazahstan mountains we also have this beautiful mountain leopard. Mountain name Alatau😀.
The birds like, "come on bro, cant we be friends?"
😆😆
I am truly impressed with how amazing the hunt is with this creature and can only hope we get a good chance to really see what can happen to them. I'm glad we are safe and able to deal with the chaos involved in the hunt. ❤
So good , love their camouflage
You'd think they would make the collar with the same markings as the snow leopard itself instead of this big white thing that stands out.
*It's understandable to question the choice of a white collar that stands out against the markings of a snow leopard. However, the design of collars is often driven by practical considerations, such as ensuring visibility for tracking and research purposes. While it may seem contradictory to their natural camouflage, the collars serve as valuable tools for studying and monitoring these elusive creatures.*

Many snow leopards come my village everyday in manag Nepal 🇳🇵
Hope they dont leave the collar on too long i'd rather not know the info the collar gives if it means making the cats life any harder, what an amazing animal, they are to be admired and respected respect "big time" they are awesome, but you can put a collar on those annoying birds and give the leopard a break
Good morning sir thanks......🙏

It doesn't look quite the same with a collar and blue tag on its ear does it?
What mountain.was this?
Let me tell you something and be perfectly clear. That leopard doesn’t need you to put a massive collar on it so you can “gather data”. That’s for you, not it.
It helps in tracking the leopard as well as look out for other memebers of the population, which useful for conservation and safety purposes.
Which place and which country is this?
This snow leopard is also in our Ladakh I had saw this
Fast and successful hunt!
