Kkkkk
That riff and bass line were tatooed into my brain in 2004 and they have been playing on a loop since. No, I don't want it to stop. Ever.
Year I am a Bass Player myself. The Bass is pushing this Song like a Freight Train. Once it rolls there is no stopping.
This bass player is the bomb!!
I’m not a bass player, but I’m with you bass players
Hell yeah!
Same. I regret nothing.
The early 2000s weren't ready for the Hives.
Don’t get me wrong; I love the Hives, but what I love the most about them is the fact that not one of them look as though they belong in a band.
The singer used to be a postman
Espesh Pablo Escobar on bass over there...
@Ali S Yeah he definitely reminds me of Mick Jagger. Not just the way he looks but the idiosyncratic awkward moves, like the one at 2:12
@@bmjames You think that's coincidental? ;)
@@storiesforfunnn This is too good to research, this is now a funadmental truth of my universe.
this song has aged like fine wine.
agree and agree and agree
I don't drink wine, but this is still my favorite song of The Hives \,,/_
Yes Sir, those who are smart, let's end FoxNews without violence, but by simply ignoring them.
Facts!!!
this is one of those timeless riffs like seven nation army or the seeker that will NEVER get old
Still gets pumped when I hear it!
Miss this era so bad, Hives, Vines, Stripes, Strokes, etc.
So many great bands, really kicked rock music in its ass at the time.
Many "es"
Hot hot heat, the von bondies, the killers...
Frank ferdinand
@@casey2173 Franz,
Not Frank
@@bastiaanbosch7093 yeah I’m pretty sure the band was called frank.
The more you listen the better it gets.
On the contrary
I completely agree @ketti
True that!!!
The Bass is the real Engine of this Song.
How is a band this good not ultra-famous?
Anyone who was into alternative music at all in the 00's knew who they were. They did pretty well for themselves.
When that song came out, they were! But it's from 2004 I guess...
Just release a new album already!
@@meganshell their first album was 1997.
Sometimes the best most creative most obvious of music are always in the back,
And sometimes everything opposite to that is always out the front
listening in 2024... 20 years of fun
Whispering in the drummer's ear by shouting is the funniest part
People like to point to "Hate To Say I Told You So", but to me, this is the definitive Hives song. It's so simmering, such controlled chaos before it just explodes during the chorus.
I get where you are coming from but I'd actually call the definitive hives song "B is for Brutus" it't got that sick riff and driving rythm section and the classic insults to the subject's intellegence that I've come to love from The Hives. That or maybe "Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones"
@@intermonkey88, what about Tick Tick Boom? I personally think it's the most The Hives-ish song
Controlled chaos is the best word for it. You can’t write music like this. You can only play it, and you can only perfect it by playing it more. It can’t be taught, it can only be felt. This is real rock n roll.
Tick tick boom.
Preach.
this band changed my life. so thankful for the memories and the feelings inter-weaved. Truly a gem.
same
Saw them play like 4 times in NYC. I miss them.
White Stripes beat them to it.
I went to a The Hives concert, best concert ever.
I envy you
Totally! Such a great attitude ♥
Saw them at Dour festival in Belgium a few weeks ago.
They were really good but the best ones were Cypress Hill that night.
But i liked them allot. Espescially the lead singer.
Love his enthusiasm :D
I've seen them twice: once in my home town and once in Vegas. The Vegas one, the band were playing at a pool and at the end, EVERYONE (including The Hives) were in the pool
+cacaman15 I worked behind the scenes as a techie at a HIVES concert fully in agreement here one of the best live bands I've ever seen !!! BRILLIANT!!
Who else is just discovering this guys. Wtf it's all so fantastic
Been listening to em for a few years and I'm glad they're getting more recognition!
I rememeber listen to their songs in a restaurant ten years ago, when i was a kid, but i did don't know what they were called until a week ago. I love their songs.
Been a fan since I was 18 years old and I'm now 41. Welcome to the Hives.
00:51 He went full Jagger
You never go full Jagger lol
The more I watch it, the more I see New York Dolls
He's got those moves like Jagger.
He was already half-way there!
AC DC Bon Scott
Mick Jagger called... he wants his swagger back
He can't have it 😂
1fois ,2 fois ,3fois ...je ne m'en lasse pas ...du rock du pur son et quel talent!!!
I been playing air guitar for 35 years and I can say with absolute certainty that this is one of the best riffs ever created in rock and roll. Top100 EASILY.

when i bought my first guitar in 2004, i downloaded this song and tried to play it. realized it couldn't. forgot about it for 19 years and just now found it again. Realized I can play it now.
I love Christy Hemme, and this song still makes me think of her fiery entrance!
Me too

Time FLIES. I loved this time in music. It was so easy to find good rock music. The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Shins, Brendan Benson, The Vines, The Hives, Adam Green, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ben Kweller, Kings of Leon, I could go on and on and on.
chloe leith That long... I miss being young at Reading Festival... not worrying about paying rent... Got a black eye and a broken toe at a Marilyn Manson set... same night blind drunk, stuck my feet in the camp fire and set them alight... Good times, seems like a life time ago now... walking was hard on Sunday, the shoes curled up like bananas....
+RedYellow Blue Jet first lp was kinda good then they felll into cocaine
The lead singer is so entertaining and bonkers. if only you could bottle that. A Great band with great characters.
The Hives are everything a rock n' roll band should be.
What? Watered down emulations of bands from yesteryear done by upper middle class white washed swedes, down to mere caricature? These guys are the B level globetrotters of rock music. Completely soulless and vapid
And divas
@@flynncarter229 the bassline is driving like a train, the bassist dr. matt destruction is iconic. don't know what you talking about.
The Hives in 2004 was just amazing. The look, sound, swagger of this band will never be seen again.
I thought they sucked in 04. I realize I was, so very mistaken. I'm getting ready to call them my favorite band ever. I feel like they should fight Korn in a wrestling match, and you already know that Chubs McBaldy on bass is getting the pin.
No not Fieldy, dumass, not Fieldy.

Right before or right as the whole industry changed unto this conglomerate streaming website stuff. When you watched or waited for the video on TV or listened for the song to be played on the radio. The dawn of sms messaging...blasting this in the minivan on your learners permit....
Not true. I'm seeing them next week.
I got to see them live that year at a small venue in Columbus. Had a spot in the front, crowd surfers kept coming over the top of our heads, it was crazy! Their singer has a strut and stage presence like a young Mick Jagger. Absolutely electric!
Zeit... Gefühle... der ganze Scheiss! Muss warten! Heute muss Musik einfach mal wieder nur Musik sein! Pure Energie.
Coming down to Isle being accompanied by Lita . From California Christy Hemme ❤️🔥
In the spirit of 70's punk rock, they kept all vocals as they were...unrefined, energetic with no autotune to take out the soul
0:47 If the Rolling Stones were indie

ect
+Георгий Ахвледиани I 'd suppose the STONES were indie'ish at one point !!
You can't be something that wasn't created yet. It's just like saying Jesus was a commie just because he liked to share.
4f52, what do you mean? "indy" isn't a style of music, all it really means is that the music was recorded independently. Just means they aren't signed to a label. I've been playing in bands for the last 20 years and everything I do is "indy" because I am not signed to a label, and I produce and record all my stuff independently. So YES there would've been a time when the Stones would have been independent or "indy". That fucking word makes me cringe... sigh...
video like " She so Cold"
I can't get enough of this video. The guitar works are animated and it's unexpected how the frontman walks up the wall like it's a sidewalk. Of course the guitar work and the animated frontman were sharp too in tick tick boom
was lucky enough to see watch them last week, best live performance i’ve ever seen
Really, they're still performing live shows?

That riff melts into your brain! .... awesome.
Saw this band live in Wolverhampton in about 2007ish. It was the most drunk I’ve ever been off 20/20 fortified wine of all the inappropriate drinks. It was a hell of a night and despite being literally paralytic and loosing a shoe by the end of it I can still remember that the band gave an absolutely incredible performance. Stands out as one of the best concerts I’ve been to and I can hardly remember it.
How did I hate this song 20 year ago? Total banger!
They are like a cover band of every band at once. An absolute original blend of everything.
I love that bit where he's whisper-screaming to the drummer, and the drummer's paying full attention. Just the madness of it.
Christy Hemme 💖
There the the best best..........😎
What a tune. Everytime i remember it exists and come back to it, it just rocks my frickin' world.
Making her way to the ring from California CHRISTY HEMME!
The Hives é a melhor banda ao vivo do planeta! Essa música no show é impossível de não pular a e gritar junto com eles.
I LIKE THAT BAND HAVE MUCH FORCE 👌✌️👍
2023 and I'm here loving this song still. It's a.. It's .. A Banger!
The show in México City was amazing. The best concert I've attended.
Yo también estuve ahí, se robaron la noche
Si! Prácticamente los AM le cerraron a The Hives
De acuerdo... se rifaron más que los AM
No pude ir, pero vi los video y me arrepiento, se ve que hicieron un gran performance
fué increible!!!
OMG!!!!! Missed this!!!!!!
I have no idea how this video got on my iPod as a kid, but I'm glad it did
Love the fist pumping intensity of this song. 👍
2019 and I still listen to this song thinking in Christy Hemme's 2004 WWE Entrance
Definitely one of my favs band when feeling bored but need to complete the job, it gets you in the mood.
Haven't heard the hives in ages, excellent
Always loved this one
This was incredible at Reading, so glad I went to see them!!
años tratando de recordar este tema. y al fin lo encontre que realizado que me siento
I'm so glad I've got to see them live 😎
The sound the sound!!!!!! I always loved this one
Haven't listened to this in a while... still LOVE IT!
Saw you guys at big day out Melbourne today, probably the best live show I've ever seen !
Still so good after all these years!!!
I'm 27 and all the post-punk revival/garage rock (whatever you want to call it) became big when I was just getting into music in early 2000s (I was in elementary school). And these bands made me take up playing guitar and I followed them throughout junior high, high school and even to today. Upbeat stripped down rock n roll is the best rock n' roll.
Long live the Hives, the Strokes, White Stripes, the Cribs, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol etc etc. I am proud to have grown up with these bands and still be into them. Hard to even pinpoint the genre or "scene" if you didn't witness it, but I see it as a definite group of bands as distinct as punk or new wave or other historical musical movements and I am proud to have grown up with it.
These bands you mention were major just when I started hitting the (good) clubs around age 18-24. Fantastic time in music, perhaps distorted a bit by my great time as a student. Most bands you mention are considered 'garage rock revival' but I agree that bands like Franz Ferdinand and Interpol are also part of the same movement, so I just like to call it the rock revival of the 00's.
Rock was less mainstream in the late 90's when it was all boy bands, R&B and Hip Hop, then these bands came along and by around 2006-2008 had died out again. There are still loads and loads of fantastic bands that make music just as great as these bands, they're just not mainstream anymore. Which in it's own isn't a bad thing, but good music being mainstream does help good music get the attention and success it deserves. I'm still hoping rock music picks up again in whatever form.
It's Indie Rock/Alternative.
Loved it so much!
Mando Diao, The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party.... ❤

Rockin! Rockin!! Sweet!!!
Wasn't a fan bank in the day, but the song pops in my head now and again.
Man. I grew up on this song, literally. I owned this album when I was around 8-9. Had a boss-ass little CD Radio and CD's galore. Probably one of my favorite birthday gifts had to be this album.
ha ha,, these guys are really comical too, love that energy
