Today, I rebuild what many would call the worst car ever made - A 1986 Yugo GV, famous for being all over channels like Doug Demuro, Aging Wheels, and this one. Unfortunately, there was some pretty bad news in the middle that changed the scope of the build. Anyway, let's get to work!

respect dear gentlemen. !! to correct you right away, the yugo is not the worst car in the world, you have them all over the world, both uglier and worse, and the newer generation vehicles are from the 80s, and it could compete with much more expensive brands !!! in that time. and most importantly he is reliable and has never let down those who comment and who have never ridden a yuga do not know what they are talking about. the truth is it has a small engine of 1000 cubic meters but it is unbreakable and you can fix it yourself. hello

i had an 88 Yugo, and it was one of the best little cars i've ever had and wish i had it still. i bought another from a junkyard for 50.00 and had all the spare parts i would need. i once took it on an 11 hour road trip after filling up the massive 6 gallon tank. Yugo's are awesome!!!
Yes! When Freddie said they were going to give it to someone who would appreciate its uniqueness, I was hoping it was going to be Robert Dunn (Aging Motors).
Watching the parts cleaner soak into the shop towel was... mesmerizing.
It's the slow zooms on the time lapse. Gets me too 😅
Not going to lie, this has become an really cool little car.
Hopefully he'll finish the job on it.
Well ...the moment tavarish said that he will give it away to someone who will really love it .....ding ding ding AGING WHEEL!!! The only guy that will really appreciate this little thing.
Robert sounded really happy there at the end haha

Freddy's and Jared's skills are really underrated. They appear to be just making it up and having fun, but really they are master mechanics and engineers who can take on any vehicle.
I don't know if I'd go that far lol... They aren't dumb though that's for sure.
@@danielnelson4881 tavarish does have great mechanics skills but Jared can teach at Harvard and make you master mechanic in a year. His knowledge on cars is amazing. Tavarish would be incredibly behind without him.
Sometimes it's a case of you not being smart enough to realise that you should not be attempting what you are about to do. Damn, there is a NICE yellow X19 a few blocks from where i live and since that or a Lancia Scorpion is way up there on my list of desired sports cars i am having emotional upheaval.
You should try this with the aid of a Fiat X19 workshop manual. There are just too many oddities about european cars to just take a chance or make logical assumptions because logic is not in the vocabulary of many Euro auto engineers and you can really make some stupid mistakes trying to get by on guesswork.
@@gregorytimmons4777 Especially Italians. Big problem is their workshop manuals don't reflect the car your working on. They seem to make changes in the car but forget to change the manual.
My dad had Yugo. That was my first car as well. The only way to destroy Yugo is to push it off the cliff. 30 years from now, you will still have Yugo's running around. Yugo was made for the average Yugoslav blue-collar family where every dad is a handyman and can practically rebuild Yugo independently. We used to joke that you can buy yugo spare part with the change you get when you buy ice cream. My dad's yugo was 1989, and that car was still running in 2006 when he sold it.
That montage needs to win an award.

The Yugo f355
I know exactly what these guys went thru... I rebuilt also a Yugo and the most difficult part was to find the spare parts. I searched them the entire world... From California, over Texas to Germany, England, France, Serbia, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia, Croatia, North Macedonia and Greece. I took all the effort to find all the original parts, so mine has all original parts on it and is equipped like it came from the factory. So all patience and resilience is necessary to achieve this task and challenge. A strong mindset is also necessary, because all the time you will get parts which will not fit, because all cars were made of different parts... The 80s Rocky's Montage is no exaggeration but sad reality. All powers are needed to achieve this... Good luck to all guys out there accepting this challenge!
what parts do you need and for what model?

Thank you for this vid, it got me hyped up since me and my dad are having a very special Yugo (cause it technically doesn't exist) fixed up right now, the Yugo Ciao Cabrio version. So, Cabrio is the name we used for the convertible series, however, it was only done for the base Yugo model, during the end of the factories life in Kragujevac they made a few, from what I know only 3 really, special convertible versions of the ciao model and they were meant for export). Incidentally, during that period my mother was a local celebrity in the region and especially in our hometown of Kragujevac and she had the opportunity to buy one of them, 20 or so years later, it's in less than decent condition (mostly on her part since she got a new car and didn't drive it much and Yugos have a tendency to fall apart when not being used and maintained properly) so me and my dad took it upon ourselves, or more specifically our budgets, to fix it up properly, hiring specialist mechanics for every part of the process and sparing no expense to make it look even better than when it first came out of the factory.
No other Yugo probably got this much love ever! 😄😄😄😄

In Poland we mostly had Fiat 126p, Fiat 125p and two stroke Syrena. Zastava 1100 was considered something better. Romanian Dacia was a piece of crap, nobody really wanted it.

Fuck yeah recognised the voice! Hopefully Robert will get some views and new subs out of this, he deserves it as much as that Yugo deserves him!
BTW, Yugo's radiator was notoriously undersized even for the original 1.1L engine. It had a nasty tendency to cause overheating on a hot day while idling in traffic. I am sure it is not big enough for a 1.5L engine. Maybe an idea for the Level 2 tune :) .

because it has italian engine :)
@@valmarifoto Yes! 128A engine that Yugo has was designed by Lampredi, who built race engines for 50s and 60s Ferrari. I have a 1.3 Yugo and it is such a blast to drive.
@@valmarifoto Its DMB engine ..you can see on 22:33..it was factory in Yugoslavia that also produced aircraft engines ..but yes it shared lot off parts with Italian engine
Love the engine swap. However I would have straightened the front bumper as best as possible, painted it with same black paint as the bottom and mounted the foglights underneath on it. To me the front would have actually looked better overall. Also would have gone with a slightly narrower performance tire and combo that didn't require cutting the fenders. Also would have removed the drivers fender and maybe tried to straighten the dent on it as much as possible using a body hammer and dolly and used piece of black vinyl to replace the missing molding to at least give the illusion of a molding until one could be acquired by the new owner if he so chose to.
Damn that 40 minutes went by QUICK. I want more!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
