Mr Chia, the reason Porsche put the ignition key on the left, is for racing. Back in the day, racing drivers had to run to their cars at the start of the race. Starting your car with your left hand while at the same time putting your car into gear with your right, saves milliseconds, which is crucial in racing.
I’ve heard that one! I believed it, too. Alas, I visited the Porsche Museum in 2023 and my guide debunked the story. Porsche ignitions were on the left before the factory went to Le Mans. I believe the Le Mans running start was stopped in 1970, too?
@@MrChiaSG I stand corrected. Apologies Mr Chia.
@@marcelgafa4527 don't apologise man, we all learn from each other! 😃
Wow Mr Chia is really killing it!! great video good job.
Thank you, sir! We would tell our guy but... it's never pretty to see a grown man cry 😁
When are you journalists getting this car for a full review after driving?
We wish we knew! Hopefully by the end of 2024
I'm not a fan of EV's but this looks really good
It really does! And it looks pretty practical, too. What do you think of the (Singapore) pricing?
Where did you get the story from about the ignition beeing on the left? Isn’t it from the motorsport racing days? Anyway cool presentation, well done.
Thanks for the kind words! He heard the story about the key from a guide at the Porsche Museum, which he visited last year. Makes sense if you think about it - the keys were on the left years before Porsche went to Le Mans! It does make a good marketing story to link it to racing, though 😃
Here the explanation I'm talking about.... -> Up until 1970, the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race employed a running start, when competitors would sprint across the track, jump in their cars and roar away. The ignition switch on the left allowed a Porsche driver to start the car while shifting into gear and steering off.
@@Cybervogi we've heard that one, too! Dan Neill (of Car and Driver fame) did write in the Wall St Journal that Klaus Bischoff told him it was to save wire, too. Guess it'll really depend on who you ask... 🤷♂
Have you counted how many times you have said the word “now”, Mr. Chia?
We still haven't finished counting the number of times he says "Uh..."
Maybe pull the camera back a bit and let us see the car. You shouldnt be the focus of a car video, the car should.
Thanks for the feedback! We're working on doing better and it's great to get constructive criticism
Yeah I agree. Although the 'cinematography' isn't that bad but somehow your camera don't understand or don't know how to apply the 'rule of third' here.
What colour is it?
That purply hue on the Macan 4 is called Provence. The Macan Turbo was white, but we have no idea if there's a special name for it. Weiss, maybe? 🤷
Macan Turbo is probably Ice Grey Metallic 🤔
@@harmony3138 that's a great guess but on the configurator, the plain White looks quite a bit closer to the preview car we shot than Ice Grey Metallic
It really needs a roof spoiler for me. They have one on the Cayenne coupe however?
Our guy said the exact same thing: why no roof spoiler! Robert Meier, the chap from Porsche AG in the vid, explained that it would have added drag, and quietly shared that the 0.25Cd drag coefficient was actually slightly off target already 🤫
@@MrChiaSG Thats interesting, I guess it was a case of priorities - better drag coefficient over looks? I'm sure you will start seeing some aftermarket ones popping up shortly.
@@jak493 now there's an idea! :D
You are a handsome man but you are blocking the car the entire video
Sorry about that, and thanks for the constructive criticism! The cars are definitely better looking than our guy and will get more prominence 👌🏻
