@@ryanthomasburns Good question. Our review of the 2024 Tacoma will be the next one on our channel. For people who need a real truck, the Tacoma is hard to beat. But personally, we don’t need a proper truck that tows or excels off-road. So, if we bought something with a bed, we’d probably grab a Hyundai Santa Cruz. I’m all for moving the headlight switch to the touchscreen when there is an auto function that also turns headlights on when the wipers are activated. I’m also good with moving most of the HVAC controls into the touchscreen when the vehicle is equipped with automatic climate control. So many people don’t understand how Auto anything works and still feel the need to manually operate their headlamps, fan speed, move the temp from the lowest temp to the highest temp, etc. Auto functions are designed to be set and forget.
I get how automatic climate control works - but for whatever reason, I ***abhor*** it in vehicles. If I'm in an small enclosed space like a car, I want cold or hot air sent to my head or feet ASAP; I don't want the computer to decide what it needs to provide in order to achieve an ambient temp goal. Perfectly fine with it in buildings, though.
@@etmccaus that’s how auto climate control works in vehicles. Let’s say you set your temp at 70 degrees and it’s 20 degrees outside. The climate control will blow hot air at your feet. As the interior reaches the set temp the fan will slow or speed up to maintain the temp. Same works for AC in warm weather. The only manual control you should need to make is front/rear defrost and minor temp adjustments.

Much more then the competition. I know some think that mid sizes are already too large but I'm one to want something a bit bigger. I mean even the Maverick has more interior space then the mid size Ranger. No reason that mid sizes have to be so ergonomically crippled. I'm hoping the upcoming Ranger will offer more room inside. I believe they actually increased the interior both by length and width.
Your right. Indont get why people say they gotten bigger. Compared to a Silverado the difference is huge. To me is cramped and I wished it was 2 inches wider on the inside and 2 extra inches of rear leg room

All trucks are allot of money now. The four banger really does not have much over the older 3.6 V6 other then its cleaner burning Which is a big issue with oems trying to meet federal guild lines with the EPA. Body on frames are 30 percent more then they were in 2019. No thanks.
I didn’t realize the touchscreen light switch was so obvious. Other reviews didn’t seem to point that out. But, my main issue with the touch screen light switch is the situations where auto doesn’t work. My car with automatic headlights doesn’t turn on the lights in a number of situations including when it’s raining (I even have auto wipers, you’d think this would’ve been obvious to the manufacturer but nope) or when a road sign says “lights on for safety”. Does the Colorado automatically turn on the lights when the wipers turn on? Can it read road signs? Can you turn those lights on without taking your eyes off the road? A switch solves all those problems and has the tactile feedback to do it without thinking.
The problem with automatic headlights is they generally only activate at night - if it's dawn/dusk or really dark due to inclement weather - they do nothing! Gimme my damn headlight switch!
The concern with the lighting switch is in the case that the screen goes out… how are you going to turn your headlights on/off? This didn’t show us anything or remark anything useful in that regard. That was a remark that a salesman would have used. 😬
Did you talk about bed width & if you can fit 4’w materials (Sheetrock, plywood)??? Did I miss that??? Maybe important info to p/u buyers Other than that, great job
i was expecting better fuel economy if you're going down to a turbo 4 cylinder. The RAM 1500 with a hemi V8 gets 17 city and 22 hwy and has more horsepower. Going to a smaller truck with a 4 cylinder should be getting better mpg.
@@AkioWasRight depends on how you drive, what fuel you use, and how you configure it. I tend to do slightly better than the EPA rating in my 2wd Ram 1500 Classic Hemi. Highway mpg is fantastic for a 1/2 ton V8 if you’re cruising.
@@AkioWasRight i regularly get 19-21 in my Ram with 87 octane, and I don’t have the e-torque version. Just saying, 17/21 is not very good for a 4 cylinder. You might as well go for a 1500 style truck.
I was very disappointed the new Frontier did not come with Amber Turn Lamps on the tail lights like the prior series did….those were perfect and THEY DELETE THEM! Unacceptable Nissan
I have a 2023 Colorado Z71. After 3 1/2 months and almost 4000 miles of mixed city, highway, and towing I am averaging 20.9 mpg. On highway only trips, I average between 25 and 27 mpg. Not sure why the EPA has this truck at 17/21.
@@andrewmichchevis that hand calculated or going off the computer readout? 25-27 seems quite high unless it’s more of a stick to 55 type of highway use.
@andrewmichchev did you did your own calculations or use the computer? Is just odd that lots.of floks day they get horrible mileage and some say they get a lot more. I really doubt any one gets more than the EPA given how corrupt the EPA is and the method they use for testing, like 48 mph foe highway.
Love the review from a family perspective. Odd to me they did not have a built in A pilar handle on the drivers side… Wish the back window was just solid glass if the slider isn't automated. Only other gripe I have is there is no fold flat rear seat.
@@Daywalker_27 Regardless its a cost saving feature. I have a Frontier that does not have it but a few years back it did. Nissan removed that to save a few bucks. For some a handle makes more sense since its more stable and more ergonomically positioned. Unlike you, I won't make excuses for oems that do this. I'll call them out for what it is. A cost cutting feature. Just like how they removed the hard wired headlight switch. Which was a bad idea every day of the week and twice on Sundays. These center consoles can be a point of failure. Allot of SW going on and I've seen many reported failures on the Colorado forums already.
@@HiPlains1 I bought a Chevy Blazer in 2004, the last time I had to manipulate a light switch was the day I brought that Blazer home. Cutting cost by removing features that are no longer relevant seems like common since. With your logic vehicles should still have mounts to hook up your horses.

How do you feel about having the windshield wiper on the turn signal stalk? I feel the ergonomics and quick engagement of the windshield wiper a little cumbersome in comparison to it's own dedicated stalk on the opposite (right side) side of the steering wheel.
@@davefornit6235 Yeah both Ford and GM due to the column shifter. I believe the Colorado is only equipped with a floor shifter that they should have been able to have a dedicated wiper control stalk like they do with their passenger cars.
GM is not a deal breaker for me, but I rather have it and coming from GM I know that screen will go bad early. Also that fuel economy is horrible. All mid size trucks even as a 4x4 should be getting at least 20mpg in the city and 25 on the highway
Last week in my colorado trail boss the auto breaking feature slammed from 55mph to a full stop because a semi truck dumped some serious black smoke. It was highly terrifying and I actually dont think the feature is really that helpful or safe. Also had a motorcycle whip out in front of me… the truck slammed on the breaks and i had a fullsized pickup on my rear. Im so grateful my 3 month old wasnt in the car… going into a full lockup while on the highway is terrible. The feature is easy to disable, wont be seeing me use it again likely.
I know a friend's Ford explorer that got in an accident because how it over corrected the steering in an awkward moment. His wife was trying to avoid a dumb ass bike and turned right and the car tried to move back towards the biker. She over corrected the steering back to the right and went off the curb and drove over a low brick wall. It literally tore out the entire underpinnings of the car. It was within two percent of being totaled out. The Explorer was eventually fixed after several months. No longer drives right and has rattles they can't seem to find. Needless to say he disabled that feature. I'll keep my 2019 Pro 4x. Only sensors it has is the back up sensors which only activate while in reverse. Only other thing I would want that I don't have is blindside assist. I have that on my Bimmer and that is a worthy feature. All the rest is utter garbage IMO.
When I got on one at the auto show, it did felt cramped for our family of 4. Im 6 foot and the center armrest is what a dislike about smaller vehicles and why i love full size or midsize crossover over. Our current Mazds cx5 has been very reliable, but for lir long trips is too small. Also, I would like reclining rear seats to be considered 100 % family friendly as my small dougtherrs when they fall asleep they go side ways. Would i buy one? No, lease? Yes. Now GM reliability is a major concern and i heard lots issues with this Colorado.
Piano black in the interior or exterior of any pickup truck should be absent, unless you’re and idiot and want to order it. I just don’t get why Chevy would put it on every day use switchgear, except that the Chinese must charge next to nothing for it.
It must be the Koreans, my daughters Buick Encore GX has the same shift handle and over heads light fixture along with the piano black plastic all over...lol
I think it's a bi of a pity that these midsize trucks don't do better mpg-wise compared to a full-zize truck. I think I'd get the bigger truck with the 4 cylinder because the back seat is so much bigger. A hybrid would have been another option. It's very nice looking.
I’ve been getting 24-25 mpg on the highway at 75-80mph and it’s only done 2200 miles so far…honestly I can’t complain at all and the power is great for a truck of any size.
@@matthewbailey1126 And in all honestly, a basic 150 with the 2.7 and dual injection is really more than enough truck for those who might have looked at a mid size.
You cant have it both ways tow capibilties with high mpg .i get about 24 to 25 mpg highway 13 to 14 towing and 18 city driving. The truck tows beautifully makes our 4 runner feel like a dog when it tows
I agree 100 percent. This interior is ergonomically crippled. I know its a mid size but these look tiny up in person. I was so surprised how small it is. The only real benefit of the new engine is the emissions burn cleaner. The truck itself weighs almost 150 lbs more which is failure. GM did nothing to lighten it up. This is close to 5K lbs curb weight. And turbos will generally suck it up when under boost. For most driving applications you won't see any MPG gain. But if you drive 55 mph on flat road without lights you will see improvement. Not very realistic. Its interesting how GM never comments on the fuel economy. Zero. They know its bad. And energy is starting to make it move upward (ALLOT) And Biden already sucked out all our strategic oil reserve. So there is nothing he can do to keep the prices from moving upwards.. After they change the oil standard away from the dollar it will get ugly. I mean really ugly. Soon people will be paying top dollar for toyota hybrids as large body on frames start losing value like in 2008. Its funny how fast personal sentiments change when faced with higher fuel costs. Nothing changes culture faster then that.
The engines been out since 2019 so search for issues wont find much .Not sure why a chevy mechanic would knock it compared to the 5.3 and 6.2 with lifter collapse issues .
I mean you’re getting a ton of power compared to the V6 it replaced with the same mpg. Highway people have been getting around mpg. Real world tests versus what the epa posts always vary.
I love these reviews.

@@jpbullaoit Wipers come on automatically after 10x cycles if the wipers
Yup. Should be mandatory. Wipers on, lights on. FCA products do this too.
I bought a Blazer ZR2 in 04, the last time I used a light switch in a vehicle was the day I drove the Blazer home from the dealership
01:51 was anyone else worried that he was just going to plow through that stop sign or just me?
Underseat storage kinda sucks, people need to learn from Honda Ridgline. I like the dash and infotainment tho.
Great review of the Colorado. How is it as a off reader?
Best reviews out there.
Nice truck. Though I'll pass on any yellowish kind of colors.
The concern with the lighting switch is in the case that the screen goes out… how are you going to turn your headlights on/off? This didn’t show us anything or remark anything useful in that regard. That was a remark that a salesman would have used. 😬
Would agree on the Headlight Light control issue, but wasn't a deal breaker to me.
Would agree on the Headlight Light control issue, but wasn't a deal breaker to me.
Did you talk about bed width & if you can fit 4’w materials (Sheetrock, plywood)???
Did I miss that??? Maybe important info to p/u buyers
Other than that, great job
i was expecting better fuel economy if you're going down to a turbo 4 cylinder. The RAM 1500 with a hemi V8 gets 17 city and 22 hwy and has more horsepower. Going to a smaller truck with a 4 cylinder should be getting better mpg.
But real-world, MPG in the Hemi is far worse. The 17 MPG city is basically a joke. This Colorado's estimates are far more realistic.
@@vr4787 Okay, real-world is generalized, it doesn't depend. In general conditions, people aren't going to get 17 MPG city in the Ram.
@@aaronmulkey7487 And I'm just saying that's anecdotal.
What do you guys think on the Nissan Frontier?
I was very disappointed the new Frontier did not come with Amber Turn Lamps on the tail lights like the prior series did….those were perfect and THEY DELETE THEM!
Unacceptable Nissan
No Amber Turn Lamps on the Tail Lights ?
What kind of mpg were you achieving while driving the Z71? in the trim and set up that you had.
They probably rated it slighly lower because of lawsuits in the past luke hyundia overstating mpg
Thats at 65 to 70 mph I checked mine against gas fills up and compared to the monitor
Don’t like the round A/C Vents!!! Other than that, I like the looks of the truck!!
They stole those from the camaro lol
Love the review from a family perspective.
Odd to me they did not have a built in A pilar handle on the drivers side…
Wish the back window was just solid glass if the slider isn't automated.
Only other gripe I have is there is no fold flat rear seat.
I don't understand why people don't use the steering wheel as a handle to get in on the drivers side?
Good Review ❤
Ya great video guys I have a 2022 work truck with the v6 Colorado ya it doesn't have all the bells and whistles will it's what I can afford I like it alot on the window sticker it says it has towing package and trailer package is it the same thing doe your Colorado have the same thanks
Great review, we’re in year six with ours & it still drives perfect. Good to have the entire clan, my wife & I love it. One day your daughter will be test driving behind the wheel, also.
How do you feel about having the windshield wiper on the turn signal stalk? I feel the ergonomics and quick engagement of the windshield wiper a little cumbersome in comparison to it's own dedicated stalk on the opposite (right side) side of the steering wheel.
Gm has been doing that for a while.
Removing the hard wired light switch was a bad idea. Nothing less then a cost cutting feature to boost scary Mary's yearly bonus.
@@davefornit6235 Yeah both Ford and GM due to the column shifter. I believe the Colorado is only equipped with a floor shifter that they should have been able to have a dedicated wiper control stalk like they do with their passenger cars.
Do you know Doug Demuro? You two would be great friends
I want a light switch......and that's a deal breaker for me........plus the gas mileage! I'll wait and see what the new Ranger is like!
If you want mileage the Tacoma Hybrid will be over 25mpg
@@michaelbury1941 No hybrids for me. I'll wait to see what the new Ranger is like.
GM is not a deal breaker for me, but I rather have it and coming from GM I know that screen will go bad early. Also that fuel economy is horrible. All mid size trucks even as a 4x4 should be getting at least 20mpg in the city and 25 on the highway
Now we just have to wait about two or three years for all the bugs to get worked out in the manufacturing process.
i like Micah's shirt
I hope they fixed the engine in that model..
*Patiently waits for GMC canyon video* I'm looking either the colorado or canyon, i do like the Colorado and they're a little bit cheaper 😅
Only difference is canyon will have a bit more standard features and I believe they are all slightly lifted vs the Colorado.
@@forrest225 if you get a z71 they got the same luxury options in it as a canyon at4 just like the zr2 and at4x same everything
I love that color! Yellow ish
벨로스터 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ where did you get that shirt lol
Came for a truck review but I’m more interested in how you changed that stuffed animals dress so quick 😆
I hate GM unreliable crap but this one looks good.
This guy does NOT need a bump.
as in cocaine?
@@gustavmahler3228or anything else that goes up
I think it's a bi of a pity that these midsize trucks don't do better mpg-wise compared to a full-zize truck. I think I'd get the bigger truck with the 4 cylinder because the back seat is so much bigger. A hybrid would have been another option. It's very nice looking.
Yea my 21 F150 with the 3.5 averages 20 MPG for unloaded daily use. 21 highway for this is pretty atrocious for the size and power
Micah! Please tell me where you got that stuffed animal. 😂 my daughter wants one. (Nice review btw)
Good question. It was actually handmade by my mother for my daughter. :)
You forgot the Nissan frontier
I like my z71
9:55 I’ve never seen a chipmunk irl
Chevy mechanic told me to stay away from this truck and the 1550 with the same engine.
The engines been out since 2019 so search for issues wont find much .Not sure why a chevy mechanic would knock it compared to the 5.3 and 6.2 with lifter collapse issues .
Those fuel economy numbers would be disappointing for a full-size pickup let stand a midsized one.
I mean you’re getting a ton of power compared to the V6 it replaced with the same mpg. Highway people have been getting around mpg. Real world tests versus what the epa posts always vary.
I would definitely NOT put the unibody Ridgeline as a comparison.
This truck is a computer on wheels. In a few years this will have a voice activated options.
Baby poo yellow. Nice.
The rear window should be electric!
I disagree
He is definitely terrified of his wife's driving lol
45k as tested for a mid size mild off reader…🤦🏻♂️
Seriously, what more can you need than a "flatulence button"????🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
And not coming to Australia so the toyota hilux & ford ranger's will continue to lead the way.

"벨로스터" 티셔츠가 인상적이네요...
I don’t get it!! My 2016 Tacoma has better mpg than that Chevy.
What the 22r 4 cyclinder ? If so thats not even a comparison and the 6 doesnt even do that well.
