This may be an unpopular take but his real life is strange to the point of basically being parody that a show like this could actually work nowadays if it was given a second chance.
Kanye's whole career and most of his adult life has been a sitcom, the VMAs Snafu was PEAK comedy! Also, Kanye looked into the camera like he was on The Office before it was a meme lol.
Kanye's show came out after The Office actually, and both were inspired by Curb. He was probably taking after both shows

It’s kind of crazy that in 2018 NBC passed on a TV show starring Kenye West. Network television is general has been struggling to pull in viewers since the 2010s, and NBC essentially has had a rough time since 2010. NBC also didn’t have anything in 2018.

I had no idea this was lost!!!! Such a great interview! He really got in depth about his hate for homophobia and talked about how rainbows are the dopest thing to ever exist! There’s a very slim chance I might have actually taped it but I would have checks my parents garage in South Carolina.

I believe you are thinking of his 2005 interview with Sway though since MTV News uploaded the clip from it where Ye speaks out against homophobia in hip hop. It's titled "Kanye West Addresses Hip-Hop’s Homophobia In 2005 Interview | MTV News"
That being said this interview has never been posted in full and is also highly sought after in the community! I believe the MTV special was called "All Eyes On Kanye West" and during it Sway and Ye also looked through his old art collection if you can recall.

@@monty1988 sometimes not when the tables are turned. His humor is entirely based around a sense of edginess and insult-based humor that he can’t tolerate at an adult level when it’s targeted at him. I love Kanye’s music, but he’s an immature spoiled privileged person who wants to dish it out but has no ability at all to take it.

I wouldn't be surprised if NBC refused the pilot. I cannot remember when exactly it was, but Paul Reiser had his own ripoff Curb your Enthusiasm series and it was GAWD AWFUL! Far beyond "we have Curb Your Enthusiasm at home" levels of copycatting. I don't even think it lasted more than 3 episodes. Either NBC was in development for that sitcom at the time and didn't want a conflicting show with a similar premise, or it already aired and bombed and burned them so bad they refused to pick up any CYE like pilots afterwards. I just can't be arsed to look up the premier date. And I like Paul Reiser. But it was just... I didn't even see CYE at the time and knew they were ripping it off.
One of my favorite lines was “You can't say ni**er, stop saying ni**er around me” lmao. I'm guessing Linus was right about the hard R being prevalent in older shows. Even though he thought it meant “retarded” lmao

I think another reason why this wouldn't have worked would've been because of Kanye's ego. One of the reasons why Curb Your Enthusiasm works is because Larry David is aware of his annoyance and makes fun of it. Kanye seems like he lacks self awareness.
