Yes. It's time to start learning how to weld. Like what Mike Finnegan and Tony Angelo said, learning how to weld opens a lot of doors if you are into hot rodding. Make repairs, fabricate brackets, mounts, modify parts..the list goes on.

If planning racing on stock 1zz, make sure to install oil temp gauge and oil cooler. This motor drives oil temperatures way to high (150 degrees Celsius high). Moroso pan should decrease them significantly, tho

That hardware store foam is what is known as Open Cell foam. You never, EVER want to use that on a car. It absorbs moisture and holds it right against the metal... Accelerating the oxidization process. What you needed to use inside is a spray wax. It'll adhere to the metal and prevent corrosion. It's also available in a spray can with a 360* nozzle so it'll reach the parts you can't see.

I work in the pest control industry, that was a mud dauber nest on the radiator. They are solitary wasps that make nests out of mud, abduct spiders to put inside and then plant their eggs, once the eggs turn to larvae, they will eat those spiders and leave the nest. They are docile and won't sting unless you are bugging them.

There's no real need for the radiator upgrade, even on track. What you should look into is an oil cooler, either oil to coolant or oil to air. The MWR one I really liked since it has a thermostat. Also, with these McPherson all around cars you need to be careful with lowering the ride height as it messes up the camber curve, and there's no way to fix it on the rear. For anyone watching: adjustable roll bars with stock springs and upgraded dampers gives you the best bang for buck

Mr2 spyders do not snap oversteer. That was the second gen. Spyders understeer more than anything but at high speed cornering the rear seems to loose grip first-probably because from the factory the front wheels stick out more than the rear so spacers in the rear and wider tires in the back can fix this. I’ve ran square setup on my spyder with and without spacers in the rear and thicker tires in the rear and a lip spoiler/wing are necessary to increase stability and rear grip. You’d be surprised how much a lip can make a difference at high speeds especially since the spyder rear end curves downward which is what you do not want. I don’t care for the fortune 510 coils on my sti even with custom spring rates that I switched to. They don’t take bumps very well as it can either be too stiff or too bouncy. In my spyder I run cut progressive lowering springs with jdm fender flares. The progressive springs take the bumps very smoothly and cutting sorings stiffens them up making the car handle amazingly. I can corner at high speeds over bumpy roads no problems at all while in my sti those same bumps would be a big deal. This is actually how I outran a state trooper in a Dodge Charger in my spyder. I’ve got bigger fender flares than the ones that were previously on this car so they completely cover the fender curves, which I completely cut out allowing me to lower the car a lot- 4 inches or so with 9” wide wheels. Center cap to fender is 12 inches for me.

3 tips for Track use: the Mr2/s has to be raised at the back to allow the coolant lines empty, if its left level up to 4 liters can be left in the system, you don't need to change the radiator unless its damaged, the best option is racing coolant, which is expensive but keeps the engine at the perfect Temp regardless of how many laps or how hard you push it, and lastly, the number one engine oil is Mobil 1, motorsport formula, again keeps the oil temps perfect, as the engine is in the back and heating is a problem, regular motor oil can Thin Out during a heavy track day, and that will effect the Temp which can get very high and the car then needs to park up and let the oil return to normal. I have been running Mr2 track cars for years and this area is the only weakness in the cars,
