I was one of these lonely people, i isolated myself for eight years, i barely saw the sun, my reason was the pressure from society wich broke me down, and of course because you isolate you will get very depressed because that is no way of living, my advise to anyone going through this, no matter how terrible you feel, always have something in your life to wake up for and do, do not completely isolate no matter what, it is hell, i am eight years further now and am doung much better, i have a job and stable life, but i still struggle with aftermaths of the isolation, i cannot handle crowded places and i sometimes still struggle with social interactions, but i survived and am moving forward, if i can do it you can aswell, the terrible feeling will eventually go away, there is an end to the hell, hold on and find the power to push through !

I was there too man, for about 5 years. I was also suffering multiple daily panic attacks, real diagnosed depression, and anxiety. My life was really no different from being dead. Coping with warhammer 40k lore and strangely classic wow with guild community gave a pseudo sense of purpose. Call it character development if you must, but it certainly helped at least provide a sense of structure that I gradually transitioned with making money through gig delivering as a hobby. THAT forced me to be out there in the public and actually having to talk to real people face to face. Shit also made me create a genuine work ethic man. Today, I'm more hopeful for the future. I'm not even halfway through my 20s but... I feel like im "man'ing" up. Feels weird not hating myself, that huge self critical and cynical dark reflection not there. Haha I wish everyone to become the best version of themselves. I certainly feel like I just began

It is not just japan. It is everywhere. Society has become so toxic and scary. It is a lot easier to sit alone at home instead of having the pressure and danger of being out in public. Yes I am almost one of them. I leave the house to do what is needed and that is it. It is not about being lonely or being sick. As soon as I leave the house it feels like I am on a mission. A stressful mission. that only subsides when I am back home.

The fact is you have to be strong in todays world. Not in a physic way, but in a mental way, cause our way of life changes to fast in the last 40 years. Many governments had failed to take the people with them. Industrialization, socialism and capitalism have brought too many changes with globalism and digitalization, too quickly for people. The progress came to fast and overwhelmed many.
In addition, there were many crises. Financial, health, and economically, we live in a time of populism and war. Which is getting closer every day.
First it was the Middle East, now it's in Eastern Europe. A lot has changed socially too. Everything has become more fast-moving, traditions are being broken and social models are being questioned, and you have to do more to get the same thing as you did 40 years ago. This has become too much for many.
And it seems this is a global issue among the industrial nations of the world. The goverment together with thier progress eats his children.

to clear up some of the confusion The remains had been removed prior to the cleaning company coming in to work. After 3 months of decomposition there is still skeletal remains and the remnants are from decomposing fats. It appears he was unwell and was vomiting blood perhaps from a Gastrointestinal (GI) bleed and possibly had stomach cancer (from the brochure). It is sad that he was not found for some time ~ 3 months someone had to have recognized the odor and gone looking for the source as it was apparent from 50 meters away. May the deceased rest well in their new home

I saw drawings , art work on the wall.

The books , the cancer treatment leaflet ...
Clothes, hat , umbrella and shoes.....
The whole place tells a story ..
The last person that turned on his tv , or hung his clothes was the young man ...still hopeful for life .
Regardless the decomposition on the floor and bed , its still hard to accept hes gone.
You cant help feeling the person is still alive.
He has just popped to the corner shops and will be back soon.
Isn't it sad that his whole existence is scrubbed out of that house ?

Loneliness is worse than living a life with people who dont meet your expectations or standards. Trust me people need you no matter what you think about yourself- Ppl who are less fortunate, a relative or simply a work you are passionate about. If you feel worthless be with people who will look upto you for even the most basic of things. Volunteer, get involved, stay active socially, if unwell then reach out for help. Sometimes we continuously push ourselves to fit a life where everything is just seen from one perspective, please you do not have to see it that way. There is hope and love for everyone in this world, you just need to break free and move on to a suitable place.

The company I work for managed a large residential apartment block area in Chiba city and Narashino near Tokyo. One day me and the guy I work with were called to clear out an apartment where a lady had died alone. She had been found about a month later and her body had been removed but her skin was still stuck to the floor where her body had been. It was our job to go there and start clearing out her apartment. It wasn't anything we'd been trained to do and it was definitely way outside our job description. It was already nearing sunset when we were in her place and the power was off so as it got darker and darker in there, we both got freaked out and left LOL..We were both thinking "Fuck this!" Let the professionals do this...I felt like a burgler going though her private things...I never went back and strangely enough nobody at the company even mentioned it to us...Wierd. I'm not even Japanese. I'm from New Zealand, so it was bizarre that they'd tell me to do such a job for a dead Japanese women...These kinds of deaths in large public housing apartment blocks are quite common...I guess nobody wants to do it. Sitting in that dark gloomy apartment with the skin of that lady stuck to the floor where she had fallen was one of the most bizarre experiences I've had in Japan.

Getting out of this social isolation is really a hard experience too. I remember i drifted away because i really got obsessed with a certain game for so long. After meny years i realize that i acturally need/want someone to talk to. This is where hell begins because once you find somebody to talk to you feel so happy that you want to talk to them again and again not to feel like shit and you become this annoying clingy person and the person dont want to deal with that and then oushes himself away. Its a constant cycle i deal with and its really had to get into a functional friendship circle when ya 33.. its like, if i had lots of friends allready i wouldnt need to cling to one person for social interaction, but then instead i get to talk with meny different people, wich gives them space and me aswell. But i will never get to such a point. I do realize that dying alone is a very real possibility for me and i hope i can serve at least as a small example that no matter how asocial or soxial anxious you might be, you need social interaction, we are human. Right bow im doing okey, but i really like if i werent relying on antidepressants to release my dopamine correctly. It also doesnt help me that i have a very niche interrest wich might narrow my possibilities with the impression i give off.

One of the things they do when their time has come(they somehow know its time to leave) is that they start starving themselves and they find a place where they are all alone. I've been in the apartment maintenance trade since summer of 2016. At one of the places I worked I was unfortunate to be the first to find a deceased resident during routine inspections (every 6 months). The worst time was during the lock downs and the months following. 3 suicide deaths, two overdoses, and an elderly man who simply passed away one night in his chair.

Reaching out to distant family members is the best thing anyone could do, especially when you have no idea what they're up to.
Great work and all done in a professional manner

There was a pamphlet on cancer. There was also a cooling pad that they said he had on his head. Which is used for sweating. This doesn't seem as if he took his own life.

So sad seeing the home be emptied.
A home has so many spirits, and it's a reflection of the person who lives there.
When everything gets emptied, it's like it's being taken away, you can't do anything about it.
It just disappears, the home is gone, empty.
You can also see home as a metaphor for "Soul"

I would never be able to do this job because other than the smell, I would get too attached to the person who died just by cleaning up their belongings and learning about them through their things. 😢 Props to clean up crews who are able to do this kind of work. ❤

I’ve never smelled the smell of death but it has to be something terrifying. And also makes you think how penetrating it is that it can get stuck to concrete and glass. Stripping down the whole interior was a good idea, but I think the bacteria that were stuck to the interior materials of the home were also stuck to the concrete during the stripping process hence making it necessary to repeat the treatment.

I have smelled death before both animal and human due to work (elderly care)
While both stink very foul.. something about human death even if you don't know what the scent is or where it's coming from gives you a sense of fear and anxiety it's very strange
I wonder how it took so long for neighbours to report something

      Yes i agree with others.
It is a smell you will never forget .
Death decomposiyion smell of animals i have smelt after death was shocking .
Its so bad , that it makes you want to find the source and get rid of it .
For me , it was impossible to ignore or get used to.
The best example , is "gone off rotten " meat and fish ...but ten times worse.
The door and windows were sealed very tight in that department ...
No flies or insects got in , which is unusual ,
. So i imagine it took 3 months to find its way out .
Maybe the neighbours could not work out where it was coming from .
      So many questions ....

Those bacteria were probably not ordinary because it's probably from a cancer. This man said that it was 'rare' to find an odor so hard to get rid of.

    Excellent service.
Amazed the neighbours didn't notice the smell.
Can people in Japan call the police to do wellness checks on anyone who has not been seen for a while...at work or with friends and family.
    I hope things improve.
