I don't know, call me old or something. But, overlanding or vehicular camping used to about the journey and the destination. Now it seems like it's all about the accessories.
I'd say that concept has not changed, it's just about being more comfortable during the journey and at your destination. There is definitely a lot of stuff out there, though!
A lot of people say the same thing about doing a through hike. But ...gees when I did one and doing my research to being on trial. people were about what they had on them. Instead of what they were experiencing and seeing on the trail.
I get it, but it's really no different than most other things where progress can make it more enjoyable. People wear heated jackets to football games, wear better boots for hiking to make it easier, use battery powered lights instead of gas lanterns, etc... but there are still a lot of people that do it the same way they always have to. Just because it's out there doesn't mean you have to use it.
And another merch video from the new Overland Merch Sales channel. Am I the only one who misses the actual outstanding overlanding videos we use to get? I now get why most of the folks I talk to on various overland sites don't come here anymore. Its a dam shame.......
My budget may not allow to get the kitchen slide but I would be interested in getting the blackstone shelf slide kit looks like it could double as a wind screen for the griddle... 16:31
The innovative is very very impressive. It just seems like the basics were forgoten though. If you replace your spare how do you get home after a sidewall tear or blow out.
Curious about how dirty that kitchen gets with that open bed in the back of the Truck. Even when I have everything close up with a Tonnaue Cover on everything is covered in dust. That onboard water filtration would be pretty nice if you we’re going off grid for weeks at a time.
This is a great setup and my wife would love it. But, since my rig is also a daily driver, kid hauler, grocery getter and farm truck, I'll have to stick to folding tables and a Coleman stove. Mike OB16968

For me…it’s about making it your own experience; aka, you do you. Keep it simple or go all out. Just get out there and do it!!

There’s nothing wrong with making things more convenient and comfortable for yourself
i hope that setup is dust proof otherwise dust will get into every crevice and stick to any left oil oil/food residue while driving.

Very well done Mike...and Mike.
This is a very impressive kitchen
How do you handle the water and plumbing with winter camping? Has there been an issue with frozen pipes?
Man this is a dream!!
Well this is really well thought out!
Very nice setup!

Yay!
I’d be concerned about all the dust. But I guess you could hose it down with the water system.

is that kitchen box water and dust proof?
Sounds like glamping than camping? What's the point?
What awning does he use?

Must be a nightmare to level a car for that kitchen...
