Great review Paul, I really enjoy your style! Also, thanks very much for the kind words on the rules video. That seriously means a lot coming from you :)
I'd love to spend some time talking production and stuff since my new style videos are very close in style to yours and would love to swap ideas and tips. Gen Con?
Hey guys, I am from Brazil and I would really like to thank you both for your videos. I really enjoy the content from Gaming Rules and Board Game Replay. Your reviews and instructional videos are on top of my favorite subscriptions.
Great review as always ty. There is a card that shows the wounds you have to do to the monster, so you go prepared for a fight. Also, zeus artifact can help. I have won with all the ways, depends from the position, player count etc. Last time i won with the temples ;-)
I think the format of their rulebooks could use some work. I think the Nemesis rulebook that they have on the kickstarter is an improvement. I would like to see your thoughts on Nemesis when it finally ships out and if you are interested in playing it. Another highly thematic game that may intrigue you. Love your work!
Hello Paul. This is a good and objective gamereview. I like your journalistic and professional style. I thought you said in the beginning: 'I am not wanna play this game again." But later on you said the opposite. Did I mishear something?
Excellent review thanks! I'll definitely be looking more into this. I can't imagine the monster win condition to be that much easier than others. Did you ever figure out if you were doing anything wrong with that?
nope. was playing it correctly, but if only one player goes for them, they will likely win (in my limited experience), but if 2-3 people go for them, there just isn't enough to get to 3 kills quickly. I still feel that the "I was a bit unlucky and left the monster needing only 1 hit to kill it, and then another player killsteals it and wins the game" not great.
@@GamingRulesVideos cool so you definitely have to keep that in mind and probably always incorporate fighting in your own strategy so you don't give that away. As far as the kill steal, that sounds interesting and I see you point. Have you played INIS? Similar idea with dudes on a map and multiple win conditions but way more simplified than LOH. For me it's got the best tension ever in any game.
@@GamingRulesVideos interesting. I'd say check out shut up and sit Downs review of it. If you're still not interested, pass. But if that gets you interested you simply must check it out. It's a top 5 game for me.
@@ShaneandStuff I don't like Inis at all, the victory is very anticlimactic a lot of times, sometimes you even have the urge to apologise to other players for winning. The most opportunistic player usually wins, not the one with the best strategic planning or the one who carefully controlled the territory or best deployed their troops. "Oh, you two got a nice fight there? I play this and that card and I seize victory, oops!"
Is this the kickstarter edition??? I have been trying to see what all the stretch goal exclusives look like but I cant find them anywhere or any videos on them.
Interesting that you think killing the monsters isnthe easiest way to win. Ive played three times and never come close to the game ending that way. The first game I should have won that way, but didn't push far enough. The other games the initial monster combats never worked out and slowed me down. I do have one major gripe with the game. The Zeus Artifact is an annoying "take that" inclusion that makes little sense. Once a player gets that they start blasting your hero and there is no counter. I felt guilty doing it to heroes... only to lose it and then have it done to my hero. My dislike for it is so much that I probably wont play again with Zeus as one of the gods. I also believe that where you start is key in the game. In every game Ive played too many players have started in the south of the map. That has allowed (through a bit of luck) the players in the north to scoop up a lot of provinces while armies in the south are stuck battling in a war of attrition.
interesting. We must be playing it wrong then. The last game was won by someone controlling 5 temples, but literally the turn before someone was about to win by killing 3 monsters :)
Gaming Rules! I imagine the meta of the game is still flexible. For most people I have played with its been their first game. At the convention I was recently at the players there won through area control. I didn't ask them how close they were to another victory condition.

Thanks for watching! :)
Have played several times but it had been years. Glad you covered this video!
This is quickly becoming my go to channel to learn how to play games and help decide if I want to purchase them!
Thanks for watching!
Great Video Paul!
I need to play this again too
Thank you for the video. Another great review. I especially love your special guest Freddie. Say hello if you see him again...
He's moved in, got his own room now.
The problem with flies is, they breed like... well... not rabbits, but you know what I mean. ;)
Great review as always ty.

Am I in the right place?
Great video as always! :)
Thanks. I'm not sure if you are in the right place or not. Are there games there? If so, yes, you are in the right place.
Great review!
Great review and great t-shirt sir 👍. Going to bully the gang at my FLGS to have a day of getting to grips with LOH 👍
check out the how to play vid if you are stuck :)
when there is a draft you pass the remaining 4 blessings counterclockwise(NOT to the person on your left but to the right)

@@ShaneandStuff I've not played Inis. I've been told by a number of people that I really wouldn't like it, so I skipped that one.

Great game and great review. My only issue was with the quests - I think this mechanic could be improved - they just seem too easy.
Great video
Thanks a lot!

Shouldn't the tone be on A instead of E on HELLAS?
Looks cool. What's the play time?
Should be 2 hours, but with people learning, a bit longer.
Gaming Rules! Potential game night game then!

ach, what's the point of me writing MY review, you've only gone and said everything I wanted to say!
I just got this game. The rulebook is garbage.
