Good review (again, nice to see you back in the vid review space :) ). And again, you closely mirror my thoughts. This is a GREAT dudes on a map game. There are some really awesome combos to be found within the base game and I can only wonder at what will be possible once the rest of the KS extensions get delivered. And yes, I can confirm a 4-player game time of about 90 minutes. Thankfully, I don't have to make a purge decision as my game group loves *Inis*. There has been a wonderfully crazy-good resurgence of Ameri-trash type games that have a lot of strategic and tactical decision making baked into their design (Lords of Hellas, Sons of Anarchy, Mythic Battles: Pantheon, Star Wars: Rebellion, Rising Sun, 878 Vikings...).
one of the advantages of kemet is no text.you just explain the icons and thats it.also its very good with the ta-seti expansion.i will not trade my kemet with this.even i know why you like it.more civ etc.
Great review. I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on this game. It is really expensive so I am not sure if its worth it. Thanks to your review I might wait until I can get my hands on a used set later.
Can you comment on how this game has held up over the years? You mentioned that it fired some pretty heavy hitters in this review, but is it an evergreen? Thanks for another great review!
This one still gets played in the group, but I honestly haven't played it in almost two years now. That's due in large part to the pandemic. However, my group has been talking about getting it back to the table again soon.
I have an opportunity to get either Lords of Hellas or Ragnarok. Ragnarok costs more, but that's a minor issue. Joel, do you strongly prefer one over the other?
Have you played Cthulhu Wars yet? Personally it's the leader in this genre for me, but I've had a few people who won't play Lovecraft themed, so I've been looking for a good alternative in that genre.
Asher Grave I have. Reviewed it some time ago. The TLDR is that I enjoyed it very much. Doesn’t seem like it will be much after a rules read. But we enjoyed it quite a bit.
Heh) Got Both Rising Sun and This for the Minis and am SO Glad You have had Great Experiences with Both of them as Games! Always had a soft spot for Civ type games especially the Original back in the 80's : ))) Thanks for Your in Depth Reviews they are Always Efficient and On Point. *Salute*
Definitely not. I like Hellas better, but I expect there are plenty who will still prefer Kemet. There are in my group. I'd say we're relatively split on which we like better.
The way the game plays out, you have one: have all of them so that you have one remaining when the other players remove them from you. Its a Jump on the Leader game like Munchkin :(
Great review as usual! I would keep Inis in your collection just for a little while - I've played with its expansion which made a game that I liked a game that I love.
This is a first. I've taught Inis for a couple dozen people and nobody hated it (some were lukewarm, but that's OK). However, I had a similar experience with Cry Havoc. My group couldn't stand it for some reason.
Nice to see you back. Hope things are going well. :)

Love the new format. Glad you are doing these again. Sold me on this one. Really into this kinda game of late and this is intriguingly different
Awesome. Thanks!

There should be a Kratos win condition where everything dies.

This was a solid game. I only played it at 2 and I enjoyed it. id love to play at 4. It's such a great design that doesn't feel overwhelming at all.

@@DriveThruReview Thanks for another quick and helpful reply qB^).
Cthulhu Wars comparison? Seems similar.
It's not really similar other than there is area control, which is a much lighter concern here whereas it's the main thrust of Cthulhu Wars.

I've not played Ragnarok, so I can't comment unfortunately.
@@DriveThruReview Ah, that's all right. Thanks!

Drive Thru Games thanks for the thoughts. I think I'll hold off on picking this one up, try someone else's copy first.

Thank you!
You are Most Welcome) You are My Goto For Games Reviews - Miniature/Board.
I really should have backed this, I aborted because I thought it was "just another mega kickstarter with mini's I'll almost never use"
Pledge Manager should open up soon :) *rubs hands together evilly*
Worth getting without kickstarter stuff?

Is Kemet outdated now?
Definitely not. I like Hellas better, but I expect there are plenty who will still prefer Kemet. There are in my group. I'd say we're relatively split on which we like better.
I thought Inis had a lot of win conditions.
+1 :)

Thank you for sharing. Will check out the game further.

Ya. That was a struggle. Fortunately (or not?) my group hates Inis.... so it was an easier decision than it should have been.
This is a first. I've taught Inis for a couple dozen people and nobody hated it (some were lukewarm, but that's OK). However, I had a similar experience with Cry Havoc. My group couldn't stand it for some reason.
Ya this group seems to be Team Kemet here... well now some of them are Team Hellas.
Are you talking about an Inis expansion???
Yes indeed.
