When it comes to the price of games and DLC, in my opinion there are only a FEW MUSTS. 1) The game must be of reasonable price for what is offered. Basically, a 3 or 4 hour experience should NEVER cost the same as a 30 or 40 hour game. And as extension of this, just because a game CAN take a player 100+ hours to complete, does NOT mean it should cost MORE than a 30-40 hour game. Basically, the length of the game should be determined by the length of time it takes to see the MAIN portions of the game. NOT side activities or other OPTIONAL parts that players do not HAVE to interact with. 2) A DLC of any kind should NEVER be the same price as the base game. With the caveat that if the DLC could essentially be a sequel and an entire game unto itself, then and only then is it acceptable for it to cost roughly HALF the price of the base game, give or take a few dollars. And i say HALF, because a TRUE sequel to a game and what makes a sequel worth full price, is the advancements in graphics and mechanics whereas DLC simply uses existing mechanics and graphics with little to no advancements. 3) A smaller, shorter 10-20 hour Indie game with EXCELLENT graphics, mechanics, story, character development and lore is worth MORE to gamers than a larger, longer 100+ hour Triple A game that is "half-assed" put together with bad mechanics, no story, boring characters and/or no lore. So MANY gamers, myself included, would rather pay $70 for an AMAZING smaller Indie game that respects our money and our time with NO microtransactions, loot boxes or other predatory mechanics than we would to pay $30 for a large "Triple A", big budget game that respects NONE of it's player base, FORCES in microtransactions, loot boxes, time wasting mechanics to make the game grindier than it needs to be and ones that will rip parts of the game out JUST to be sold back to the players for more profit. I would actually CHOOSE to pay MORE for am GREAT smaller Indie game than to pay less for a larger shitty Triple A game.
Some time went into that reply. Cheers.
Didn't care after 10 seconds about the content, your voice was soothing hah. But, good review
Nice video. You'll be passing subscriber marks left and right, I'm sure.
Thanks Verum - appreciate, just getting back into it from a 3 month time off.
Really good review!
Thanks tons.
I agree with everything said. Been an Ark fan for a while and when Ascended came out...got so turned off then decided to play Icarus again. Turned out Open world... Is now very decent! Thankyou for the video!
