A tip I learned from doing mine, is to have a helper apply some pressure to the good piece of glass to open up the crack on the other side, just ever so slightly. That allows the resin to really get in there and do its thing.
Ok, was wondering but also afraid to do this. I can definitely feel my line crack up to a certain point. Then it feels like the crack is entirely inside the glass itself (can't feel it with fingernail from inside the car or outside.
I did it 2 nights ago on my truck. Impact point had a foot long crack either side. I took a Q tip with resin putting pressure for a couple seconds all along the crack. Then, I ran the resin bead along it. I put about 6-8 pieces of film over it. I let it sit overnight in the garage, not just 20 min-1 hr. I removed the film, but didn’t scrape or clean. I let it sit for 8 hrs in 100 deg heat/sun. I then scraped excess off. Wiped it down. I can barely make out the crack! It worked. Amazing, and I never would’ve believed it. I’ve tried for 30 years on cracks for the 20 min-hr thing, and it never helped at all.
A few more tips I want to add being that I did my own windshield in 2021 with a similarly long crack and it's held up since is that you can watch videos of professionals doing this with better tools but can use 2 or 3 of these cheaper plastic tools to do the same thing. Basically you'll want to use the bullseye dropper to shoot goop into the main chip then "wick" the resin along with a cue tip soaked in the same resin. Push and follow from behind and it pushes itself forward. With your spare 2 other resin injectors you'll use them to very very slightly open the crack a super little bit evenly from the other side of the windshield to help the resin flow through.
Worked good for me had about a half foot crack and chip...the trick I used was my wifes toy...as I put the resin in she was in the inside of the car and her her egg in a sock against the crack of the windshield. The vibrations from the sock egg vibrated the windshield enough so the resin would go into the crack. Then let it dry in the garage for two hours...then pulled it out in direct sun to let it bake for an hour..back in the garage let it cool down then scraped it you hardly can see it now...
I used this kit and I'm quite happy with the results too. I drilled a hole 1/8 inch from the end of the crack, in the top layer of glass only. I put an electric heater inside the van to heat up the glass since it was 50 in my garage. Then I let the glue flow into crack and followed the flow, just behind the flow, along the rest of the crack. I used reading glasses to help me see the flow into the crack. I followed the directions for the rest of the procedure. I parked outside to let it setup etc. The next day, after being parked outside, it seemed that the crack was even harder to see than on the first day after setting up. I don't know if the glue hardened and shrunk further but I'm even happier with the repair.
Use a hair dryer from the inside to help add some pliability and warm up the areas so the liquid can seep down in there, will help air to get out as well. You don't want it in the sun because the stuff us UV activated, but heat is okay. Professionals use a drill bit to drill a tiny hole to help the stuff get into the damage. I bet if you did that every few inches along the crack it would fill it in. The windshield is 3 layers, it's plastic in the center glass on the out/inside areas. You drill just until you feel a difference (after it pops through the 1st layer of glass( then stop, then fill in with resin. When scraping you're suppose to put the blade at the edge of the damage and scrape away so you don't potentially pull the repair out, then stand it up straight and scrape evenly across the top at the end.
This is the exact crack I have on my 2004 Camry's windshield. My insurance isn't gonna cover it. I was pretty sad abt the whole thing but this video gave me hope. Thank you!
The reason you're supposed to scrape it a 90° angle is to avoid pulling the resin out of the crack like you did at the chip. If you scrape it at a 90° angle you can avoid that
It works great if u push on the glass from the inside as ur putting the filler in the crack u can watch the crack disappear if ur putting the right amount of pressure on the crack the clear film strip are just to keep the air from going back in the crack while ur waiting on it to dry 15 to 20 nins in sun ..u may need someone pushing on the inside of the crack as u apply the resin from outside. opening that crack to get the resin down inside it will literally disappear if ur doing it correctly
I tried and it works like a breeze. Im having this crack my whole life, and whatever I tried it always stayed visible. It was bothering me because theres sometimes air passing through it, and it's not always very pleasant. It's finally closed up now, even though mechanics said i couldn't and shouldn't do it. But since a week I have severe stomach pains.. i will find a fix for that too, these days you can find anything on UA-cam. Thanks a lot!
OMG OMG You are a lifesaver for showing this..I called windshield companies for a 2021 Kia Sportage. I was quoted 1000.+ for repairs. I called the dealership and they wanted to put a claim in to my insurance. But after watching your video and purchasing this product, I was able to fix a crack, which was more that 30ins. Rain-x just put many windshield companies out of business. P.S. I have some little gaps because I am short BUT for the majority of the crack, it has disappeared. Thanks again..
That's awesome!!! Glad to hear this was helpful! We were in the same boat because of these new windshields and all the electronics that are attached to them nowadays. Nice work, glad it turned out good!
This is a happening to thousands of kias and kias will NOT recognize it’s a manufacturer defect. Email MCameron@kiausa.com and let anyone you know with Kia windshield issues to email her as well.
Just keep in mind… The windshield is an integral part of the safety of the car. If you have a crack that goes from one edge to the middle of the windshield that’s OKAY to fix, however… If it goes from one edge of the windshield to the other edge (any other edge) it greatly compromises the integrity of the windshield’s safety.
@@nkotb4me If it’s happening without something hitting the windshield in creating a start point for the crack, it’s a pressure issue meaning the windshield was not installed properly.
@@donoh3909 we have this issue all the time at Chrysler Jefferson assembly in Detroit ( Grand Cherokee and Durango ). Installers doing something wrong, usually either out of ignorance of the job they WERE trained for, or willfully skipping steps while still clearing each vehicle through the station like nothing is wrong. Very hard to get competent employees at any station within the plant. After having worked here for so long, I've come to believe that many recalls are related to installers on the assembly line as opposed to true design issues, considering there are about 4000 people on each shift ( here on the night shift TONS of people like to drink while on the job as well ). It's an absolute shit show.
Thank you for showing us it can be done, mines a bit longer than yours spreading 3 ways from the middle. It’s been chillin for about 2 months and still hasn’t spread.
Nice. Yea ours still hasn’t grown more than when we did the fix over 2 years ago. There’s a new crack at the top now that appears to grow a little every couple weeks. We really need to replace our windshield 😂
When the instructions said scrape at a 90 degree angle it meant to the crack not the windshield. It means that you shouldn't scrape back and forth across the crack only along the length.
Kip, you obviously didn't read the instructions that come with the Rain-X kit. They say: "Hold the razor blade at a 90 degree angle to the windshield when scraping for best result." Please don't pontificate based on your speculation.
Hey dude, ive seen this get done 100% cleared with same equipment, you have to use the suction device and grease the sides both sides 5-10 cm from crack and slowly drip resin and move suction as you go along, what will happen is the resin will fill the bullseye and line crack 100% with that pressure on it... you can also tap the glass inside to help resin flow inside....after few hours scrap and clear glass. hope this helps .
To stop the crack, you need to drill a small hole (with a diamond bit) through the outer layer of glass at the end, or within a few mm of the crack. Either drill until you get to the plastic layer and stop, or drill nearly through the outer glass (im not sure exactly how thick it is) and just give the bottom of the hole a tap to break through to the plastic. Then you can apply the resin along the crack and in the new hole. The round hole kinda dissipates the cracking action because it's a void. The resin reduces the visibility of the crack and stops more dirt getting stuck.
@@rayonwilliamssportsandfun2106 a laminated windscreen is two layers of glass with a plastic layer in the middle. If you have a crack on just the outer layer of glass you need to drill a hole at the end of, or just slightly ahead of the crack. The hole needs to be either all the way through - until the drill suddenly starts drilling deeper into the soft plastic layer, or you need to drill through most of the cracked outer layer (judge the depth in comparison to the thickness of the glass crack), then give it just enough of a hit in the bottom of the hole to do the final breakthrough. If the hole doesn't go all the way through, the crack may continue once the weather becomes changeable or cold. The hole is a stress release. You can drill the glass with a diamond bit for something like a Dremel. Btw, the cheap crack repair glue may work, or may not.. it needs to be applied in shade, and the glass pushed a bit from inside as you apply glue a bit at a time, making sure not to get ahead of the crack filling. It also needs to be done before the crack gets too old.. like within a week or two.. it can make the difference between being an obvious crack, or pretty much disappearing. I've got two bits of the same crack.. an old bit which I didn't drill deep enough or glue in time, and then the continued winter bit which was fresh and drilled deep enough.. the old didn't glue well and continued after a while, and the fresh bit glued invisibly, and stopped the crack.
Just had a rock hit my windshield and had a crack spreading on my drive home. I didn’t have a repair kit but read about clear nail polish and clear packing tape being able to stop the crack. So far so good. I’ve got an appointment in the morning to get it repaired. I was (and still am) a little shaken because I’ve never had that happen where the glass actually cracked. Thank you for the video, and shoutout to you because I live in Louisiana too.
HI, the windshield of my car has exactly the same damage. Yesterday I lost the scare to touch it and bought 2 windshield repair kits. the rainx is I want to use for the long cracks. Even I'm scared of taking the car to the professionals and they don't want to repair it, they just request to change it, but at this time, my budget is too weak for that expense... so I keep in mind change it in a few months, but right now I'll have to stop de crack keeps growing. Thanks for your video. I drive a Corolla LE 2021 and the new windshield is so much more expensive.
I've driven all types of cheap cars from Hondas to Mitsubishi and never had a rock chip, bought my audi a4 a week ago and now I have a bad rock chip. Gonna have to try this before I put an insurance claim in.
Ordered resin, and plan on trying this too, this week.. i have the claim to replace the windshield on the 10th so hell, why not try to fix it.. I'll post back if it works, plan on using a needle to get the resin into the crack deeper, and UV light to cure it.. My guess is it wont be perfect.. But who knows, worth a shot.. Edit: i like your use of painters tape to see the crack easier.. gonna borrow that.. 😂
Thanks so much for sharing! I have a long crack like you. This video has given me the confidence to try and repair it vs paying for it and having to take off from work.
Just got a new car and already there's a chip in the windshield and I just noticed there is a crack line starting too. I am gonna try and do this until I can get it fixed TYSM!!!
The directions say to also use the razor blade to remove any glass fragments from the hole so the resin can fill it in fully. The reason the give you extra sheets is to reuse it later multiple times. I've had a bottle for 10 years and the resin is still good. I use a small nail to puncture the bottle opening for the resin to use it again and keep it all in a plastic bag in my tool chest. In one case, I had to do a second coat after the first to get areas where I didn't apply enough resin after pushing it down with the plunger.
Great info here, thanks for the detailed lil extras. I'm going to give it a go and will be sure to pay extra attention to how I use the razorblade to remove the fragments! Thanks again!
I just got this packet of rainex windscreen repair kit, so im watching this,so far the cracks still totally visible,im up to the wait for resin to dry part , a crack about a foot long from the edge of windscreen on drivers side shaped like a j, an totally still see the crack
@IAmAmirul it def doesn’t disappear. It greatly reduced the visibility, and stopped it from spreading further. We now have another crack and it is much more visible and continues to grow
It does look better. I have my own business doing windshield repair. Drilling the end of the crack, would of made such a huge difference, but definitely not bad for a store bought kit.
Little MacJ, how would drilling the end of the crack have made a huge difference? Isn't that done to stop the crack from spreading? And the OP said in comments that, 18 months after he did the repair, the crack hadn't grown.
@@yrniceguy it would of filled in better. Not saying it's going to prevent it from spreading, not all cracks are created equal. I meant it would of made a huge difference in appearance.
Thank you for this. It worked out pretty good. Its a car I dont much care for so this will buy me time till I upgrade my car. But again it worked pretty well.
I repair windshield professionally. There’s a couple of things to consider when trying something like this: 1) the windshield is a safety component in the vehicle. It absorbs 20% of the cars weight in case of a roll over, it prevents passengers from being ejected in case of an accident, and prevents objects like tires or debris from flying into your vehicle. You want to make sure the structural integrity is intact so an improper repair can be costly in more than just money but safety. 2) using resins that aren’t designed for long cracks can fail over time, thus compromising the structural integrity of the windshield 3) in order to permanently stop a long crack from spreading you must properly drill into the windshield and tap a bullseye at the end of the crack. Drilling too deeply can damage the inside layer of the windshield (PVB) and compromise the structural integrity of the windshield. I’ve seen something like this done, even drilling a bullseye at the end, and within time it gave out. Safety first. Please refer to the Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard (ROLAGS) for more information on the safety of windshield repair. Every certified auto glass professional is familiar with ROLAGS as it’s the ultimate standard in the US. Please see the PDF files at the right of the screen on proper resin bonding and what constitutes a successful and failed repair. rolags.com/
I don't think you're going to deform the glass by screwing the pressure screw more, that's the key thing to how these work, you expand the glass by cooling it, then you pressure feed the resin in the larger crack, then as it warms up, it comes together and cures. I've got a 50 year old car that is very hard to get glass for, I'm going to try this out. My concern is that once you get an amount of resin in the crack, you'll be blocking future resin from getting all the way in. As far as expansion goes, you need to drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack, then fill that hole, that's how they do engine head repair, it stops the travel.
@@bmack2938 You want to get through the first glass layer. If you search a few vids you'll see folks using a sharpened punch or nail which they then hammer lightly/carefully to create a mini bullseye.
plz post back when you tried to save your windshield. I got a 1971 cutlass S I just bought and same thing, hard to get a windshield for.Watched this video to see if I could repair it enough to pass inspection and not annoy me looking at it :)
Still has not spread! Looks exactly the same as when we did the repair. Hopefully soon we’ll replace the windshield though bc we still haven’t gotten the car inspected lol
Thanks. I'm in Metairie. Bought a 2008 Smart Fortwo Passion that has a long u shaped crack I wanna fix. So far, none of the videos on DIY repair I have seen will get rid of the crack completely. Youd windshield may not be too expensive. Just to buy the glass windshield for my car would cost 81.00 dollars but I can't install it. To have someone else install it including the price of the windshield is 230.00 dollars. Not too bad.
Yea my whole idea of getting it to stop before it spread in front of the driver in order to pass EBR inspection did not pan out lol... EBR only allows like 8" long cracks max, so gonna need to shell out the cash soon for it unfortunately
@@fiveohmxco I can't fault you for saving money. My car did not have a brake tag. I took it in for an inspection today and the windshield passed because the crack was not in the way of my view. I did however find out the horn did not work so I have to fix that this week but the inspector let it slide and I got my inspection sticker anyway.
Haha yea didn’t look great, but def better and hasn’t spread! Still looks the same after 3.5 years. She has another crack now and it’s spreading and you can def tell the difference in them side by side. New one looks super bad
Thank you for the video! 2 windshield places quoted > $400 to repare an 8 inch crack. I’ll try what you did for $15 first! Ps. Eff those ppl cracking about your razor use. I didn’t see them posting videos to help ppl out!
Great video! I'm not a glass guy but aren't these windshields laminated? Wonder if you applied juice to the inside would it be less noticeable? Would be hard for a car but motorhome glass is more vertical. You've convinced me to give it a try on mine.
Ya true but 90% of the time only the outside is cracked also if both were cracked they wouldn't fallow each other meaning all cracks inside and or out will take very different paths
Love your video not many out there on a long bad crack ... I myself have a decent spider web about 40 inches total and about 15 small fractures and intent on at least trying with that product..
I'm going to try the diamond bit on the Dremel and this kind of kit from my local Napa. And my crack is almost the same. But I'm going to use my squeegee to get rid of the bubbles. I did tile and stone all of my body life. And anything ridged that has a crack in it needs the pressure released. So we always drilled a hole right in front of it. And most of the time it works. Great video, just try a squeegee next time. After drilling a needle size hole right in front of the crack. Usually Anything that your waiting for to dry or cure, from concrete to fiberglass, the slower it cures the stronger it will be when it finally drys. So don't rush the process, hot things expand/grow, and Cold things contract/shrink. Kerry Grant luvs mother earth and not plutocrats fracking narcissistic autocrats.
I tried selling a car everyone kept pulling out because of a hairline crack in the middle. Called the glass place they wanted 500 and I had to wait till next week when I already have 10 people with cash in hand to buy it. Held off for a day did this and immediately sold it after. They didn’t even notice it at all.

Would this be enough to hide a crack from a safety check to pass safety? Maybe show up with a dirty windshield after the repair would help conceal it better 😬
Lol. I was honestly hoping it would, but it didn’t do a great job of hiding. Maybe if you spent more time trying get the resin in, tap the inside of the windshield and work with it longer before taking it out into the sun
@@fiveohmxco yeah.. oh well! I would try this first because on maui the cost for windshield replacement is about $700 and I just replaced it a little over a year ago!! A tree branch fell and cracked right over the driver side 😂 FML
@@adamc4155 😫 that was my first intention to get it to clear up and pass state inspection, but it didn’t disappear like I hoped. So we’ve just pushed it off for 4 years 😂
@fiveohmxco I read a comment on another video for rain x repair kit and it said to hold a flame on the inside for 10 seconds at a time and the heat will pull the resin into the crack! Gonna try it out today 🤙
Thanks a lot you saved me $150 I had a 6” crack on one side of the glass I was pretty skeptical but what’s $10 so I tried I needed do apply the kit twice and it’s almost as new
Has it spread at all since the repair? All the professional repairs have them drill a small hole at the end of the crack to create a bull’s-eye for the crack to go into so it stops the spread, I’m considering doing that, but it seems a little iffy having no experience “Purposely putting a bull’s-eye in my windshield”
My question is.. how long did your repair last? Did it get any worse afterwards and if so how long afterwards? I had a crack show up on the side of my windshield and before I had a chance to do anything about it I guess because of drastic temp changes outside or something it went from just a few inches on the passenger side to all the way across in front of driver side .. just wondering if it’s even worth my time doing this but I really would like to keep it from getting worse.. at least for a while because I can’t afford anything else..
Still the same! I’m hoping to finally replace it by the end of the year tho. Have another crack and a large bullseye elsewhere now. But this crack has still not grown!
Use a Dremel or a small drill, and get needle size bit with diamonds encrusted on this bit. Just like a wet saw for cutting tile, stone, granite, and glass. I've heard not to drill all of the way through the windshield. So I'm going to try to go halfway through, but if it cracks again, I'll drill though it all of the way. And just put tape on the inside until it dries. Good luck.
I think would be more difficult from inside bc since the glass curves towards you, it probably works to close the crack instead of open it, so might be hard to squeeze the resin into the crack
Just so you know, I wouldn't recommend but had to try this method on my kid's tablet. It worked a little bit but difficult with spots that had small pieces of glass missing. Waiting right now for it to cure but ran out of daylight so yea, 😆
Good idea! Maybe if you get one of those full body tablet cases they make for kids with the screen protector built in, that might put the cherry on top to keep any lil fingers away from the gaps after you try the resin! And they're pretty cheap on Amazon which is always a plus! I'd love to hear how you made out, I may have to give this a try too!
@@DarlingMissDarling well the repair didn't hold up or cover as good as it does for a car window of course and after talking to Amazon more....I was able to get them to fix it. The screen protector afterwards might have helped though but wife didn't want to get it. Update though from the fix. They lost it in the warehouse and asked me to buy another one and then I would be reimbursed. Luckily I did get my money back. Also for Amazon kids tablet, they do have a warranty that is good for use.
@@scottneal2738 ahh, that had to start out pretty disappointingly after doing all that work with the kit! But I'm glad to hear that it ultimately got worked out in the end. Thank you for the detailed update, you saved me a ton of time and frustration with that info, I so appreciate it! 😊👍
@@DarlingMissDarling note though as my kid just didn't crack his screen but had small pieces chipped out as well so I truly couldn't fill the gap for those spots but the crack line's didn't look to bad if given the proper amount of time to cure.
As I tightened the suction cups, the crack became bigger. It cracked inside and I cannot even fill it. Even after resin dried, I don't see improvement. Is it a bad news?
Sorry to hear! I know the instructions say to lightly apply pressure with the suction screw. Maybe you had a really bad crack? Unfortunately, once the resin cures in sunlight, I don't think you can do further repairs
You should have made a small vacuum with the tape and a few sandwich baggies .. put a little hole to pull some vacuuming to the sealed baggy tape contraption . .. then blown back into the hose .. would work into the crack ..
Lol in my state (PA) they make you replace your windshield if it's cracked at all. Chips may be alright, but any cracks going toward the edge of the windshield needs replaced. They sell a lot of windshields in PA.
Big thanks from Manchester Uk, this helped a lot. The instructions supplied in the kit for repairing cracks are contradictory, because it says you just use the resin tube, but the final second step describes removing the suction-cup device, which is only for chips/bullseyes ? Your vid totally clarified what to do 👍
Many MANY THANKS for this video. It is one of the better ones I have seen. I am learning little tricks from different videos and will try combining some of the ideas. One of the main things is finding a product that is easily available and that works. Rain-ex products products are usually pretty reliable and are generally easy to find. I have a long crack as well. I figure, what do i have to lose. The car is old and I dont want to have to replace a windshield. Thanks again

Expansion of the joint by pressure before application. Pulling a vaccuum if possible. The air must be evacuated and replaced with resin. It is the air that you "see" in the crack.
The crack has still not grown, but I will admit that we live in Louisiana, so we only see a handful of days in winter where the weather drops below 32°F. The crack was regularly growing though before I applied this repair, even during the summer time.

Same boat myself, Crack is getting longer day by day, so come tomorrow bright and early doing this. Thanks for the vid.
Worked good for me had about a half foot crack and chip...the trick I used was my wifes toy...as I put the resin in she was in the inside of the car and her her egg in a sock against the crack of the windshield.
I think you got it figured out!!
Hoe are you to push the inside while putting the filler on the outside?
I tried and it works like a breeze. Im having this crack my whole life, and whatever I tried it always stayed visible. It was bothering me because theres sometimes air passing through it, and it's not always very pleasant. It's finally closed up now, even though mechanics said i couldn't and shouldn't do it. But since a week I have severe stomach pains.. i will find a fix for that too, these days you can find anything on UA-cam. Thanks a lot!

Those wind chimes sound dope AF
Omg I just did my windshield it works my crack was about 18in at least 9in is now invisible and the crack looks thinner Thank you so much for video
Thats awesome! Glad to hear this was helpful!!!
18in.... needs a new windscreen not a repair ... bet insurance didn't cover that .
How did you make it invisible?
Thank you for this! Really glad you showed how you pushed on the glass to get the air out. Wasn't sure how hard to push.✌
Thank you for helping me and sharing this video
When the instructions said scrape at a 90 degree angle it meant to the crack not the windshield. It means that you shouldn't scrape back and forth across the crack only along the length.
I literally just said out loud, “has this guy ever used a razor blade before?” 😂😂
These mfers 😒😒😂

Nice! I didn't think about using the suction syringe for the crack. definitely more time intensive but I can see how it would work
What grease? vaseline?
To stop the crack, you need to drill a small hole (with a diamond bit) through the outer layer of glass at the end, or within a few mm of the crack. Either drill until you get to the plastic layer and stop, or drill nearly through the outer glass (im not sure exactly how thick it is) and just give the bottom of the hole a tap to break through to the plastic. Then you can apply the resin along the crack and in the new hole.
The round hole kinda dissipates the cracking action because it's a void. The resin reduces the visibility of the crack and stops more dirt getting stuck.
It won't break the glasss ?
Damn bro you should be doing the video son
@lobito6998 HEY! 😡😂
Round hole removes a sharp stress point.
Also some heat helps , either
A)light torch, quick passes,
B) or a heat gun, if you’re close to power outlets
Thanks for a video!!
Thank you for the video, and shoutout to you because I live in Louisiana too.
how’d everything go ?
Appreciate the speedy reply, my wife’s car has a similar crack so I wanted to try this!
No prob. Yea def do it quickly before it spreads more! Wish I woulda tackled this one sooner

It’s crazy how expensive the new windshields are! I hope it works well for you. Ours still hasn’t grown since July 2021
@@fiveohmxco Wow amazing, that means that the kit really works if someone knows how to use it. Thank you so much again.

I've driven all types of cheap cars from Hondas to Mitsubishi and never had a rock chip, bought my audi a4 a week ago and now I have a bad rock chip. Gonna have to try this before I put an insurance claim in.
We’ve been rockin this crack since 2020 lol
My windsheild has a crack of about 4", i will definetly use it. Thanks and hello from Montreal.
Good luck hope it turns out well!
It still there but you save $1000 of windshield replacement. Thank you for you beautiful video
Thanks so much for sharing! I have a long crack like you. This video has given me the confidence to try and repair it vs paying for it and having to take off from work.
👍👍💪💪 heck yea. Just take your time and good luck! We’ve made it 3 years without having to replace our windshield now!
Don’t worry man you’re not alone I have a long crack too it’s embarrassing but it’s okay cause no one sees my butt.👍🏽
Also a reminder that when you're done, scrape horizontal to the crack, don't scape vertically into the crack.
So basically this don't apply to when I am towelling off 😂😂😂
Just being helpful, I think you meant 'perpendicular and parallel', not "horizontal and vertical"
Just got a new car and already there's a chip in the windshield and I just noticed there is a crack line starting too. I am gonna try and do this until I can get it fixed TYSM!!!
Def do it quick to stop it spreading!
Did the crack manage to disappear somehow or is visible cracks after putting resin means there will be cracks after it dries?
@IAmAmirul it doesn't work at all
@IAmAmirul it def doesn’t disappear. It greatly reduced the visibility, and stopped it from spreading further. We now have another crack and it is much more visible and continues to grow
On cracks I noticed they really reflect sunlight. So that would be an improvement if the character doesn't blind you when driving
what if you can't feel the crack on the outside or inside?
Good video! But I dipped as soon as you scraped the window😂 I couldn’t with that sound!
😂😂😂 I’ve heard that a lot. #lessonlearned
It does look better. I have my own business doing windshield repair. Drilling the end of the crack, would of made such a huge difference, but definitely not bad for a store bought kit.
Yea it was definitely a bandaid and not a great cosmetic solution
Little MacJ, how would drilling the end of the crack have made a huge difference? Isn't that done to stop the crack from spreading? And the OP said in comments that, 18 months after he did the repair, the crack hadn't grown.
@@yrniceguy it would of filled in better. Not saying it's going to prevent it from spreading, not all cracks are created equal. I meant it would of made a huge difference in appearance.
@@littlemacjtv1179 what do you mean by drilling a hole in the crack
@@22ERICSHELLY when you do repairs on windshields, you drill a hole to open up the crack and allow more resin to pass through it.

Thank you for this. It worked out pretty good. Its a car I dont much care for so this will buy me time till I upgrade my car. But again it worked pretty well.
Awesome! Glad to hear it was helpful! Yea it’s not perfect but I think its worth the time and money
I repair windshield professionally. There’s a couple of things to consider when trying something like this:
1) the windshield is a safety component in the vehicle. It absorbs 20% of the cars weight in case of a roll over, it prevents passengers from being ejected in case of an accident, and prevents objects like tires or debris from flying into your vehicle. You want to make sure the structural integrity is intact so an improper repair can be costly in more than just money but safety.
2) using resins that aren’t designed for long cracks can fail over time, thus compromising the structural integrity of the windshield
3) in order to permanently stop a long crack from spreading you must properly drill into the windshield and tap a bullseye at the end of the crack.

I have a one inch crack. Do thing I need to drill?
@@bmack2938 I would do it without drilling. Be sure to contract the glass with ice before you force the fluid into the crack.

It's also fun to go down to skid row and play "catch the crack" a couple of times.
Thanks Buddy!

Thanks for the great video. May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Cracked the code buddy! Thank you 🙏🏼
I like the video man I just had a crack on my winshield no bulls eye or impact that I can see. I hope this stuff does the trick
Did it ?
I'm thinking the recommendations are because of how much resin and strips are in a kit so 2 kits may be necessary for bigger jobs.
Love your video not many out there on a long bad crack ... I myself have a decent spider web about 40 inches total and about 15 small fractures and intent on at least trying with that product..
Worth a shot! That’s a lotta cracks! Should be fun haha
Kerry Grant luvs mother earth and not plutocrats fracking narcissistic autocrats.
specifically where did you drill and what does this do for the end result- less noticeable repair, stronger, etc?
I tried selling a car everyone kept pulling out because of a hairline crack in the middle. Called the glass place they wanted 500 and I had to wait till next week when I already have 10 people with cash in hand to buy it. Held off for a day did this and immediately sold it after. They didn’t even notice it at all.
Ha! Love that 💯💯
Ah hell nah bro..
Thanks for making this video. I have a crack that is almost identical as yours in shape and size. I'll try this out.

Hi, this has been this way since June 2020 I believe and still has not grown since
now it's Halloween, 2023 how is it going?
Still the same! I’m hoping to finally replace it by the end of the year tho. Have another crack and a large bullseye elsewhere now. But this crack has still not grown!
Thanks for the video. I would like to find out how to drill the ends of the crack to keep it from spreading.
Use a Dremel or a small drill, and get needle size bit with diamonds encrusted on this bit.
Just like a wet saw for cutting tile, stone, granite, and glass.
I've heard not to drill all of the way through the windshield. So I'm going to try to go halfway through, but if it cracks again,
I'll drill though it all of the way.
And just put tape on the inside until it dries. Good luck.
Hi fron NZ. great video .. instructive and entertaining. You seem like such a nice honest no bullshit guy. We will give it a go !
Thanks! I think I’m gonna steal that for my future bio!
Anyone know if this method can be done for a hairline crack from the inside?
I think would be more difficult from inside bc since the glass curves towards you, it probably works to close the crack instead of open it, so might be hard to squeeze the resin into the crack
Thanks.
Just so you know, I wouldn't recommend but had to try this method on my kid's tablet. It worked a little bit but difficult with spots that had small pieces of glass missing. Waiting right now for it to cure but ran out of daylight so yea, 😆
Ha! Man I never thought about that. I’ll have to try that too! Ive got a couple of my kids tablets in a shelf I can practice on 😂

@@fiveohmxco Thank you. Would it at least stop it from cracking more? It's tricky because it is smooth on surface and it cracked inside layer...

Thanks for sharing this. The instructions in the kit I just bought are incomplete for cracks and therefore useless.
hi...I now have a long crack like yours all from a kid hitting my windshield with a BB gun in AZ 3 yrs ago n it just did long crack from the hole...probly cuzza I'm in PA n it's been freezing cold.... anyways I'm scared to try this but your video is really helpful so 🤞🤞🙏 I'm gonna try it 🙏🤞🤞🙏 Debby 😂
I'll update you later🙏🤞
Good luck! Just take your time and make sure to do it out in the shade out of the sunlight so it doesn’t start drying/curing before you’re done and all cleaned up!
@@fiveohmxco thank you!!
I update you!!!
🙏🤞❤️🤞🙏

Just curious, it’s been 3 years since you did this! How has this held up over the years?
Great! Still looks exactly the same. Still haven’t replaced it
Does this prevent the crack from spreading further?
It did for us! That was our main goal, and it hasn’t spread any more for almost 3 years now
@@fiveohmxco Thank you for letting me know! 😊
Does this stuff prevent the crack from getting bigger?!
Seems like you have to drill a hole at some depth?
This stopped the crack growing for us! Hasn’t changed in about 4 years now
Thank you for sharing the experience
Great video. I also have a fairly long crack and was wondering if I should even bother or not. But after seeing this I’m absolutely trying it. Thanks again for sharing.
The unintentional crack commentary was priceless😂. Thanks for that as well.
😂😂☺️
That is EXACTLE THE SAME place and length of my crack!!!!!
Honda pilot by any chance??
