Our GlasWeld resins are the go to choice for techs who want a strong, long lasting resin. They've been independently tested to be on average 34% stronger than leading brands. Crackweld 1000 and 2000 are designed for long crack repair. Here are the links to check them out: glasweld.com/product/rock-chip-resin/. glasweld.com/product/crackweld-resin/. Hello! We recommend slowly backing off the pressure on the screws of each crack expander before curing to allow the crack to slowly close up. Hope that helps.
The cost of long crack repair can vary, but roughly, it would be the cost of a rock chip +$10 per inch. For example, if you charge $100 for a rock chip and you're working on a 3-inch crack, you could charge $130. If you have further questions, please call us at (541)388-1156 or email us at sales@glasweld.com
I did my first repair today 3/11/2021, it was a chip with three 2” cracks I have no experience in repair of windshields and it turned out really good. It was on a leased car BMW. I think I need the crack extenders because I was struggling a little to get the resins to flow into the longer cracks. After the job was done I could only see a tiny spot, I tried to make the spot go away with the pit filler but it remained the same.
Nice job Alex! Yes, the expanders will help with a smoother resin flow. When you're ready to take your technique to the next level, here's a video on long crack repair to help you out. We recommend practicing on an old piece of glass. Good luck! ua-cam.com/video/JtbJ-jNHHns/v-deo.html
Hi Valdas. Unfortunately, a crack that long has compromised the safety of the windshield. We recommend replacement for cracks longer than 14 inches. Thanks!
Once it's been cured you can't go back and redo it. It's important to set realistic expectations from the beginning with your client, especially if the crack isn't brand new.
Appreciate your response. Can I drill in the middle of the crack as well? The long crack I have is arching in the middle bottom of the windshield...just above the dashboard..so 1 entry in the middle and 1 at the end of the crack...will that be risky?
@@empoyvega6795 Hey, it really depends on your skill and of course the break. If it's possible that you don't have to drill, then try not too because drilling can always be risky. But if you need some assistance our team can help give you some more guidance. Send us a photo of your repair and your inquiry to info@glasweld.com
@@glasweld thank you. It will be my first time to do this. Its too expensive to repair cracked windshield where I am at. Its almost like buying a new windshield
We don't recommend repairing a crack from the inside of the windshield. Feel free to email us at sales@glasweld .com, and we'll be happy to answer any additional questions.
The crack expanders put pressure on the INSIDE of the glass right on the crack so that the outside bends to a more CONVEX shape and the crack opens up a bit.
You’re only planning on fixing one windshield? Or is it a business? I ask cause this is a training video for people who do this for a living, like myself. Otherwise you’re on the wrong page.
That was a great tutorial. Thank you for making it.
We're glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks GasWeld, still have question regarding drilling; do we need to drill if there is no end and crack is growing?
Very good training. I also slide the bottle with the resin over the crack to inject resin, the only downside you can waste the resin.
Great vid!. This is my go to method. However running the injector along the break is great to know how to do also should an pesky air bubble show up.
Thank You
I would love to fix my own Windshield, have about a 30 Inch

Once it has been cured and you don't like the result, can you redo it again or it's can only be completed 1 time only?

What if there is no entry point of the break? Will you need to drill at both end of the crack?
Hello Guerrero, that's right, you will want to be able to inject resin into the crack, so an entry point is needed.

Bro but how would you fill a crack if crack is from inside the car...where resin flow is against the gravity

Great Work 👏🏽
I don't get how crack separators are necessary given the crack is on the opposite side of the crack separators
The pressure from the extenders is just enough to open the crack that little bit extra for the resin to flow in the crack more deeply & easily
The crack expanders put pressure on the INSIDE of the glass right on the crack so that the outside bends to a more CONVEX shape and the crack opens up a bit.
Awesome,thnxs for the info..
Great vid
Glad it was helpful!
To bad you don't have a pen filled with resin when you push down on tip resin will come out
THATS a great idea!
👏 👏 👏
😊
I’m sorry, for the prices for these products you might as well get your whole windshield replaced…
