  • Kitchener is a city in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. Located approximately 100 km (62 mi) west of Toronto, Kitchener is the regional seat. Kitchener was called Berlin until 1916; it was designated the Town of Berlin from 1854 until 1912 and the City of Berlin from 1912 until 1916.
The City of Kitchener covers an area of 136.86 square kilometres and had a population of 233,222 at the time of the 2016 Census. The Kitchener metropolitan area, which includes the smaller, neighbouring cities of Waterloo to the north and Cambridge to the south, has 523,894 people, making it the tenth largest Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in Canada and the fourth largest CMA in Ontario.
Waterloo is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is the smallest of three cities in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo (and previously in Waterloo County, Ontario), and is adjacent to the city of Kitchener.
Kitchener and Waterloo are often jointly referred to as "Kitchener-Waterloo", "KW", or the "Twin Cities" (when the reference includes the nearby city of Cambridge, Ontario, the term "Tri-Cities" or "the Tri-City" are used). While there were several unsuccessful attempts to combine the municipalities of Kitchener and Waterloo, following the 1973 establishment of the Region of Waterloo there was less motivation to do so. At the time of the 2016 census, the population of Waterloo was 104,986.[1]

The downtown area in Kitchener looks very dead without pedestrians. Really amazed at all the new structures since the last time I was home in 2013.

Thanks for the ride. In July I may establish myself with my wife and young son in the Waterloo region as newcomers, I thank you if you recommend me some area where I look for rent and live with a 2-year-old child (quiet, with parks, child care, supermarkets, etc.). Thank you 🙏.

Noticed you didn't dare the circles on Ira Needle. I'm new here and my new Dr. suggest the city planners must have been on LSD!

so deserted isolated: i hope extremely patient, friendly and forgiving employers as well as people make up for all the wide open spaces as well as the lack of fast food restaurants and walmarts etc. the last quarter of the video seemed better but i would have huge culture shock and mental health crises i dont know if this is a place for a delicate guy in his 50s is it lockdown free? does it have a music scene? was this made during covid?

thank-you for the video I have lived in kw pretty much all my life I was born in 1965 . I personally do not like what has happened to kw lately the LRT has screwed up everything we use to have the beautiful amber sodium street lights and now we have these ugly pitiful led lights that barely illuminate anything and give off a ghastly glow and lately those damn bike lanes screwing up traffic flow for me with all the added crap and congestion my joy of driving around here has been squelched it was better before in the 1970s I remember that Kitchener proper covered approximately 55 square miles what the hell happened to the Oxlea tower it use to be a beautiful red brick building now its an ugly putrid gray

rocket767 thanks for watching means a lot for my new channel, I’m sorry to hear how much has changed people don’t really think about the history of these towns and figure building new is always the answer. Hope you subscribe and watch some of my other videos.

LRT was a bad idea, it's not going to reduce traffic congestion, drivers are not going to leave their car at home and take LRT, the space it takes up on the streets increases congestion, buses would have been a much cheaper solution.
