Wow it's a trip hearing about Tina Turner concert tickets. RIP Queen of Rock n Roll.
Back in '89 or so I remember winning some Billy Joel Tix on Z100....GOOD MEMORIES!!!....GREAT CONCERT!!!!
Its something about Fm radio that has that Hi fidelity quality sound especially while riding in the car.🎶😎
I'm going through my midlife crisis in this shitty 2022 so this hits the spot.
Welcome ;)
2023 feels no difference so far but I feel you 100% on that
Same. Pretending I’m back in the 80s forever with this stuff.
Hope youre doing better now.
This upload encapsulates my time growing up in the Bronx ...It touched me with a ghostly haunt when I heard it....'80s GOOD TIMES!!!....GREAT MUSIC!!!....Much THANKS for uploading.
Geez I found this by sheer accident. I miss the old 80’s music and Z100 jingle I remember Mr Leonard 😮😮. I’d listen to this all day at work in Rockland County. Thx 🙏
👍 Nice. Love the backdrop. I will listen to this driving to work thinking its 1988 although 1984 was my favorite year.
Thanks for uploading these. What was probably just a slow Friday morning has now become cultural history.
This is pure gold! I miss that America. 😭
So very well said. I miss it, too. So glad we’ll always have the memories.
It was much better back then ❤️
This recording sounds amazing!
I was 18 when this was going on. It's just like being there again. Thanks for this memory trip.
This was my station too ..GOOD up load Bro ..BROOOKLYN !
The amazing thing is every song is great and it really is like traveling back on time.
Listening on the way to the city of Angra dos Reis - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. On one side the sea of the Brazilian coast. and on the other the green mountains of the Atlantic forest.
It's a New York Thing Baby!!!
Thank you so much for what you are doing. Used to listen to this station every summer when I was in New York in my grandmother's attic. Blessings from the Bahamas.
MAN, THANKS SO MUCH, So many of these Tracks, especially The Jets (12:19) I've been looking for that song since 1990
This is from either August 13 or 14 of 1987. The music indicates that, but the giveaway is Susan Leigh Taylor's reference to the Tina Turner concert at Jones Beach.
Who cares what Year it was ...''80s BEST!!!
This sounds great. 3/18/88 was my 10th birthday! Thanks so much for the post.
As someone who was born in 2008, hearing 80s songs on the hit music station instead of on the oldies station seems surreal 😱
I wasn’t even born yet. Until 1990 lol. But I know half of these songs. Radio back in the days had such a sound to it when the songs just came on. So nostalgic.
Interesting. Big songs played in a row on Z100 (like always back then). Tempo and presentation of the station seemed very slow for a NYC top 40 station.
Omg, I use to listen to Z100 back in the day. Grew up on Long Island.
This sounds to be more like summer of 1987. No way Scott Shannon was still playing "I'd Still Say Yes" and "Cross My Broken Heart" in March of 1988. Plus- no "hits" later than August 1987 on this aircheck. I know Z was super conservative/researched back then- but not one "current" in 45 minutes? Plus, she mentions "today's a good beach day" and the commercial for "nectarine season".
The processing defines the word aggressive!
There's no such thing as over modulated!
I know the latest digital Omnias etc are loud, clean, and give nice stereo expansion without losing your bass
... they are amazing when adjusted right, but this 80s sound will always be superior to these ears.
Frank Foti was the processing design vibe master back then and still is with OMNIA. #1
This is awesome thank you! Listening from Australia 😉
Really cool to hear this stuff, was a kid in the NYC burbs at this time. Thanks!
Fantastic
Thanks for sharing... cheers from spain 🙂
Con mucho gusto, y un abrazo a españa mi pais vecino ;)
It took me right back to being 13 again. Holy shit Your videos are nostalgic and amazing. Thank you for putting these up. I don't know if I'm the only one but there are times when I'll play one of your videos and it's just song after song of memories and I literally could cry, and here I am a 48-year-old man lol, that's how good times were in the '80s
Great recording! However given a majority of the songs on this being from late Summer ‘87 I think this might be from around then.
Any idea how this was recorded? It sounds pristine.
on VHS tape 😉
What impresses me most is the audio processing. Something that is currently lost. The sound of radios at that time was different, it was more robust with more quality
@@simonefmelo4670I work with an Omnia 11 and it's great but yeah this 80s analog processing will always be in a class of it's own.
This aircheck has it!!! This is how it used to sound, the best sound you will ever hear!
@@simonefmelo4670It was so good. Hard for me to tell the difference between the intricacies of the sound and nostalgia but it’s so good.
They did a lot of just music seaways. No jingles, no DJ, just 1 song fading out and another starts. That, to my knowledge, never happens now.
That date is wrong..sounds like summer of 1987
Not allowed to favorite or save this to my playist? :(
Ha! I looked and it's strange I don't see anything that could block the addition to favorites 🙄
Dude, what happened to the Kiss/Chuck Chill u promised for today?
it is expected in 30 minutes normally, but I'll put it to you immediately 😁
