When i remember that F.Zappa question "does humor belong to music?" I respond yes , a very fine and intelligent humor
One of the best groups ever! Definitely irreplaceable.
Danger Danger was way better...
I agree
Punky and funky.
So far ahead of their time we’ll likely never catch up.
Wholly *uckballs ! These guys can CRANK !! A free DEVO concert !!! I would pay good money for the privilege !! Talent , originality , creativity , passion and persistence , an American institution . DEVO !
Josh Freese! No one is like Alan, no one will ever be like the Human Metronome. But Josh is so experienced, and does his drumming justice. RIP Alan Myers
Well said! An acolyte of the great Rhythmatist, Stewart Copeland. His Daddy was in charge of Disneyland's music department, so he comes from good stock.
Alan was the only drummer for Devo.Just like Neil was the only drummer forRush.
true alans drum timing makes him one of the best drummers ever, most folks dont listen to it close enough the sounds of devo with alans drums timing made a some of the songs go from just good to epically great songs
Well said.
Just say his Rick Beato interview and he's done so much. Glad to learn about him. Now he's the Foo Fighters drummer.
Saw them in ‘81. Couldn’t string a sentence together for days. To this day I’ve never seen anything coming close.
That's because there was nothing before like them, and there's never even been anything close to them since. Duty now for the future.
Jesus I just got my mind blown in 2020. I've been listening to Devo since 1993
I was converted to the DEVO way back in the late 1970s! Loved them ever since.
Just their cover of Satisfaction makes them historically significant.
Indubitably ..and some instagram.com/p/CAQ1ewbjWs4/
It was Jagger"s favorite.
They played it live on SNL the week after the Stones were on!
Casale said it was the best way to explain who DEVO is.
But…the COJONES to follow the Stones and drop that bomb! 😂
Saw DEVO live at the Inglewood Forum back in the 80's. Parents took me! What a great memory of a great band! Thanks Mom and Dad, I love you both!
Your parents obviously understood the importance of culture on a youth
Holy crap. I am the photographer that you see briefly on stage at the beginning of BEAUTIFUL WORLD. It was a fortunate place to be when Mark started hurling pudding into the crowd. What a memory.
When time travels is invented, I’m going to this concert
I got to give Mark a ride many years ago in Philly ... What a cool fun guy ! I still remember that night on SNL ...THEY BLEW PEOPLES MINDS !
Opening with Too Much Paranoias is how you throw down a goddamn gauntlet.
the enemy is the human mind itself, or lack of it !
- Devo
so true
This version of Jocko Homo is fantstic!
August 1, 1980...One of the BEST live shows I've ever seen, and I've been to hundreds...
Devo is right up there with the likes of The Pretenders & Pink Floyd, other incredible live artists!
This was the show!
www.setlist.fm/setlist/devo/1980/gusman-cultural-center-miami-fl-53d2535d.html
This one can't be far behind !!
@@Celticslovr that setlist is GOLD, what you witnessed that night must've been insane
I first saw them around 07-09 at the Ohio State fair. One of the best concerts I have ever seen
Saw them on August 13, 1980 in Vancouver. Had a blast.
Hard to watch them since Alan's death. But they're still the band of my youth. And still, I'm 55.
Hard to watch them since Alan's departure from the band.
Apparently Jerry wanted him back around this time very very badly, but the rest weren't unanimous so Alan wouldn't do it.
@@Mucving True
@@emoedison What heard was with all the computers, CMI's, etc... Alan's role was so diminished he didn't even feel like a member anymore. Still love watching those Starwood shows in The Truth About Decoulution video.
@@beachkidboy which is why Jerry extended the invitation at the time when the band were revisiting their earlier, less digital repertoire.
Vote DEVO in the class of 2021
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Vote DEVO in Thanks again You Spuds !!!!
Cluck the RR HoF. They don’t deserve DEVO.
Fantastic live performance by Devo.
First show that Josh Freese drummed with DEVO
I didn't know that. A new spudboy!
They are so tight, they squeak.
Everyone knows what's going on and why. Everyone puts out that same outrageous level of effort. Everyone has to be thinking/working hard the entire time to keep up with it all.
And, there's a lot going on. Every song.
The ability to move, dance, jump around on stage when you're trying to sing is an acquired skill not many can possess well. Add playing an instrument to it all and you've got an athlete.
Throw in a simple sounding, though actually complex piece of music and you've got a killer band.
Note how some are still "cabled" up. THAT makes it 10 times harder to move around and adds another level of complexity for the band.
These guys are just f***ing good...
Correct, correct; after the whole bunch of sensation, hilarity and general awesomeness you eventually appreciate how hell of a tight the group was
@linesmen777 would be impressed if you somehow got the Gorj mask back
These guys are killing it,so tight ,rocking so hard!!!
Rock legends extraordinaire!~* 🔻🔺🎶 💟 🎶🎸🤓 🤟🎹🤖🎶🥁🎶
Wow what amazing gifts to us spuds, real tomatoes and all truthful wisdom these multitalented guys had brought forward from a vision we didn’t see coming ~ well until the recent changes that came clearly loud these past years.. makes you wanna slap yo mammy or clock out..🥔🍅🍩🌽🦴🛵‼️♾ D-e-V-O Thank you for your service 🛐💝
RIP Allen 🥁
☮️💜❌⭕️ Bob#2 🎸
We Are Devo!!!
I can’t tell you how immensely grateful I am to you for uploading this. I’ve always known about this concert but I’ve never seen it before, and always wanted to. I’m amazed that it took me so long to learn that this is finally on UA-cam. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You’re welcome! This show was released on DVD and Vinyl a few years back, you can probably find it on eBay
L French Wow! I must have been in a coma! Thank you for telling me, brother.
Same here 😊!
I remember hearing about this show from friends who happened to be Park City that night.
wogglebugs And let me guess... you just hated them, right? I’m kidding, but it would have driven me sideways.
I saw the Fab Five in 1982, though, on the phenomenal Oh, No! It’s DEVO tour at the Fox theater in Atlanta. And it WAS phenomenal.
So inspirational. And I can’t wipe the smile from my face.
If more music was like this today there would be less social unrest😢
this was recorded the day I was born, seems like it was a nice day
I have never seen this before...killer set list!!! Spud from South Texas!!!
RIP Bob Casale
It's great to watch Josh's face in this. At the start of the set, he looks absolutely frightened. By the time we get to 'That's Good" he has a huge grin on his face. And can you blame him? His first show drumming for his favorite band ever. I'd probably feel the same way... if I could play drums!
Actually it's drummer focus "spectrum face" and running tongue under bottom lip
So good
Wow, never saw this one before. Great stuff!
The Jazz Hands was a nice touch.
Thanks , Im blind and it helped me get a better feel for this video.
No tengo más comentarios que desde los 11 años sigo a Devo..es la banda de mi vida...Devo ...lo máximo...
THIS WAS THE COOLEST BAND OF THE LATE 20TH CENTURY .... AND THEY ARE STILL RELEVANT TODAY!!! YAY WE ARE D E V O
Ummm EXCUSE ME? WHAT DO U MEAN by WAS AND why only for the 20th century? Didnt you know that its a fact many may deny but a fact none the less , that Devo IS the coolest band thats ever existed since the history of music? They will forever be the coolest, Past present and Duty now 4 the future; No artist Can or Will ever hold a candle to Devo.
MORE relevant than ever. Same with Rage Against the Machine.
Wicked solo on "Smart Patrol"
Yes. Killer solo. These guys might be a joke band to some but damn they're great players. I'm an even bigger fan now
Saw them live in Auckland early 1980's. No other band compares or even comes close. This is fantastic. Thanks for posting spud boy.
That must've been on the New Traditionalists tour! Great
If this really was to be DEVO's last ever concert, that would've been such a strong ass note to end on.
Bob kicked ass on that "Smart Patrol" guitar solo!
Choreography too on too much paranoias! Check out the 197? france version of this on UA-cam. I think it's one of DEVOs most mutated moments and tight as hell. Sonic youth can bite me on this one.
Most of these people have NO idea the greatness they witnessed.
When Mark is on the keys the way he moves sometimes reminds me of Booji Boy. hmm.
Alright, I’ve heard enough of your crazy conspiracies!
Fresh from a Jail Break! Now THAT rocks!
I wish they did stuff from "oh no it's devo" more often. That album is absolutely killer.
U are so correct
Agreed. Only song I don’t like is peek a boo
Check out booji boys basement for recordings from the OH No it's Devo era....I agree...that album is awesome
@@liquidshitman2552 wrong opinion! Speed Racer is the real dud of that album.
@@404TVfr lmao this guy thinks art is objective 😂
If Devo is ever inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" I hope they give them the finger and REFUSE
Why? They would relish the honor of being inducted into the biggest musical manifestation of devolution. I could see Mark coming out as Boojie Boy and doing Beautiful World.
lol well we'll see, won't we?
The Rock N Roll Wall of Shame BLOWS! It would be an insult to their intelligence to be "in fucted" to that dump. DEVO doesn't polish knobs.
Me too. Show up and flip them off. “Blah Blah Blah” - Alex Lifeson after Rush induction
Josh Freese now the driving force behind THE FOO FIGHTERS!
Fucking epic
I’ll never be this cool.
Befits the times we are living through...

What a hilarious version of Jocko! Thanks D-E-V-O
What? Devo? I thought that was Johnny Cash!
F. yeah!!!
Love these guys!
Clap 👏 for them! This was/is great! 💛💛💛
Saw them live in 82 incredible show
These guys have always been great!
Incredible footage.....I am blessed.
man, what a great stepping band...had no idea, awesome !
saw them in 79 pretty cool stuff
I feel sorry for those who understand the genius of DEVO. Their live shows were amazing!
22:06 Beautiful!
Yes! Very 😎! Are we not men? No. We are DEVO! But the 🐵🐒 supplied the booze 🍺🍷🍸🍹🍻😉😁😎!
I watch this about once a week, these days. Tanx fer postin'.
We are DEVO ...
This completes me. Thank You.
WAHAAAAATTTTTT THE! Oh my God - this is fucking crazy!!!!! I grew up in the 80's too...... but i had no idea!!!!! This guys are legit!!!
There's only one thing I would change about Devo and that would be for Mark to do "Beautiful world"as Mark
Jerry sings it studio I wish he’d sing it live or at least trade Vox with booji
@@sataniksomethingblahblah6350 Does he? Usually i can easily pick out jerry's voice and i would not have guessed that.
@@eddiemoney1093 yeah I’m 99% sure I can’t find the googles to prove either of us right, but it does sound close. The only mystery as to who did vocals is shrivel up, the only guy who knows which cut got used (mark and Gerald did full vocal tracks) is Brian eno lol
@@sataniksomethingblahblah6350I've heard it somewhere that someone managed to ask Jerry I think and he said that mark did the vocals for shrivel up. Take this with a grain of salt though because I can't remember entirely.
I'm so glad this is on YouBoob! I'm up to Blockhead. This concert is vicious!
great concert, amazing setlist.
...wow...so ahead of the times....
So far ahead we’ll never catch up
One of the best concerts on the whole ****in' youtube!
fantasitc gig this was well all their gigs are great, i owned all their orginal cassette tapes before cds and stuff where even out every album they did so good to listen to no matter the age and time
"...and the bells he wears may toll for you!" lol! 00:36
Love 'em or hate 'em, DEVO's members were all accomplished musicians, as well as being tight as fuck. Unlike many "studio musicians", their live shows were note for note EXACTLY the same as their records.
I can't believe how "on it" they are, freaking amazing musicians and the moves as well, so funny and cool at the same time!
Im sitting here with my guitar watching this for the first time and struggling to be as precise as they are. Awesome.
The devo bros, infected my pre teen mind, I was happy to know later in 2008 passing ofte through lalalaland home of the scandalous, all the success of Mark & Mutato Music with scoring music for loads of productions. authentic cutting edge Music, devo its own genre fa sheeezy
Incredible as always..... fantastic performance!!!!!!
What a gem 💎 so badass
Thanks - looks like a really great concert - DEVO - precogs fo' sure, "it's a beautiful world, nice to be alive, for you - butt not for me"
DEVO c'est incroyable. Jamais ressenti autant de vibration. The best for me ! French TV Chorus1978/ and and this one 1996.
awesome, thanx for posting
Devo the art band
That version of Jocko Home was brilliant.
Great stuff thanks for uploading this video. Rock on with Devo!
I can not say thank you as much as I wish, thank you.
this is so so good, what a great band... than,s for putting up, a reminder of how great music can be... nit nkw sadly...with the likes of simon cowell et al...
24th Anniversary Today!
Its been 40+ years and the crowd still hasnt properly told Mark what their right hand is doing...
*No one understands his potato...*
RIP Bob Casale
Well these aren't Devo-tees if they don't know what either hand's doing.
You got puuuuuhhh-raaayin hands, spud.
Do my old tired eyes deceive me or was that Cheech Martin doing the intro.....
Never seen this show, what an absolute gem.
Yes, he lives in Park City. I've run into him a few times. Great guy. I remember walking up Main St. and seeing his Ferrari surrounded by a bunch of kids ogling at it when he walked up. He asked them if they wanted to sit in the car and, of course, some did. He was so gracious all the time.
God, I love this band. Thank you for uploading this. They were/are totally unique. I love you DEVO.
The original Group, fantástic music.
Just missing Alan...
Saw them in 78 79 80. So glad
super awesome, thanks for sharing!
thanks for the video, Devo at their finest
Great show!
Thank you!
More precious for the Booji Boy appearance!
What to wear ?? That is the question.
That will always be the question.
Great band!
a remedy for religion and culture gone fetid, thank you!!!!!
DEVO takin' it to church!
I saw them live great band always made me laugh
MERCI!!!
genus , that is a brilliant topical intro!!!!!!!!!!!!
