What about playing another diatonic chord in the scale?
Essentially, you are by doing this. But sure if you played Am7 on a C chord, the result is C6. If you played a G major triad, you’d get G/C. A ma7 with no 3rd.
@@JazzRockswithAdam Well then! I am going to see what each chord in the diatonic scale sounds like over the chord of the moment. Seems like a great exercise for the ears!
