In todays video I explain why petsmart and other non exotic pet shops SHOULD NOT sell Oscar fish. When buying an Oscar they are cute little babies and in a about 6 months they are almost triple the size and pet stores like petsmart really don't tell or display any warning about these fish and often when they get bigger then the buyer expected they release them into the wild or donate them/ sell them. I work at petsmart and have for the last 2.5 years. We always tell the pet parents what size tank they require and how big they get. If the pet parent does not have an adequate size tank. We don't sell them. At least at my store. I don't control what other petsmarts do.
PetSmart does tell you at least they told me I bought 4 Oscar’s in a week and both times PetSmart said hey you need at least a 75 gallon tank for them I was like done already got one😂
A minimum tank is a 75gal, but recommended a 125gal. They grow a inch a month and have a very picky pallet. If you only feed them one food, they will spit it out and choose not to eat. Also have a mood like a teenager
You do not need a 1000 gallon tank for a few Oscars lmfao a 75 gallon is perfectly fine for just 1 Oscar
I started with a 25 gallon tank for two Oscars and a Common Pleco. I knew how big they get and it has been about three months and the three are getting big. I have been planning on buying a 100 gallon tank and by luck, I found a 80 gallon on the side of the road.
There not bad there all natural and only people with common sense can get that because you should research ingeneral for any animal
I bought a oscar from my local petsmart, along with a 20 gallon tank, the oscar out grew it in about 3 months, prepare befor buying one and hes ina 45 gallon now
Also not a big fish there pretty small and 55 gallon personally will always get no matter the fish unless the need more
Im literally 11 years old but I want oscars but now I am happy because they're in my 500 gallon pond...hahahahah now im very happy😊
I went to petsmart today morning, they guy giving my Oscar fish. Literally didn't know how to catch my fish, tries to put it into the transportation bag, it fail to the floor. Dropped alot of water, messy. Not professional.

Actually at petsmart and Petco there a sticker that tell u everything u need to know about any fish they sell including how big they get.
What do you feed them, how much and how often after various earlier stages of growth?
PetSmart tells you on all the tags what tank size you should have if people dont read that, that is not PetSmart's fault
