I thought the same thing when she said that, and thought it was just me. (Unique, I know.) 😄 A few years ago I lost a lot of weight and people were constantly telling me how great I looked. What a wonderfully creative lady! I don't know how you do it Carol, but you always manage to find amazing, innovative, and inspiring people to interview on your channel. Loved this video! Bravo Diane on your ingenuity and imagination, you have a lovely home! Thank you Carol for sharing yet another great video!
Hi Carol, I'm a 79 year old man and I really like your video's. You cover all the important aspects of every tour that you do, as well as the ordinary every day stuff. By the way I just love your voice.
Thank you Mike. I really try to cover and ask about features I would want to see if I were watching a video and items I know would be of interest to my viewers. So glad to hear you enjoy the videos I am filming. That is so encouraging to hear.
Did she have a shower set up of any kind?? Great look ! Love how very unique the van is but moreover she is very relatable! She said making the van all about her was a huge step. That is sooo very true! I struggle with that myself. Thank you for a great tour!
Well I have never ever ever seen a van that self efficiently built that is just neat she is really really living the van life great I love everything about it there's not nothing that I don't love about it she is such a neat woman I hope that she has as much fun as she could ever have and live a very long time God bless her
You were right! Just WOW! Deck, heated floors, a skylight and Solar and roof storage? WELL DONE INDEED! ALL THE BEST to BOTH of you and thanks so much for sharing! Cheers :)
Carol, I love so much about this van, I cannot pinpoint 1 thing above all the rest except for the woman herself! Diane is a true creative genius just as you wrote, pure & simple. Her whole design appeals to me more than any other & I’ve been watching YT vanlife videos for 5+ years! .You really can’t tell you’re in a van, can you? It appears to me as a little room in a turn of the century house right down to the ingenious closet that really is a replicate of a closet in an old, old house. Everything she has done is amazing. I sat here with my mouth open as she revealed all the special things she did to make this so homey! My biggest surprise was the use of the kitty litter genie she got from the 2020 RTR free pile! I too got a free kitty litter genie around 2018 from a local online neighborhood freecycle group. It was my first acquisition for my future vanlife build but I thought I would be using it for my kitty’s business. Now I don’t have a kitty but thought that it was a good idea to hold my bagged business for a day or 2. I never thought it could be used as a toilet itself. I will have to explore that idea before I put my luggable loo on the next free pile! I’m in a minivan so would only be able to use this in the “shower/toileting tent.” Carol, thank you for making this video. You have done a wonderful amount of inspiring videos of creative women who have embraced their life on the road. I discovered you when you interviewed Dee, Lady Bugout! If I’m not mistaken, that’s quite near the start of your van tours. I wish you love, happiness & safe travels. Cheers, Mo in NJ
Hi Carol, I can see how vandwellers would be envious of that deck. I have a fifth-wheel, and I want the one with the deck☺️ I saw Diane at the RTR sitting on there and greeting us all during the van tour day; it was amazing that she had a deck. I am sure I got videos, or pics, of it👍🏽 It holds 800 lbs, wow! Another great tour👍🏽, safe travels!
I first saw Diane at the van tour day at the RTR and was so taken by that deck. It is amazing as is Diane. Thanks for tuning in and safe travels to you too Lisa🙂
Wow, Diane is such a lovely person...with a truly beautiful, creatively designed van. And Imogene is just the icing on the cake! Loved this video...thanks for sharing Diane with everyone.
What a gorgeous, fun lady and her lil dog is adorable. I fell in love with her home on wheels it's one of my favourite builds and I've seen many over the years ❤
This is an adorable van, with an innovative toileting system. I would add a bedpan with liners for “larger deposits” 😂 As always, Carol, thanks for the excellent content!
This is how to do it! Great storage! Great deck! Great bed! Room to move! Comfy! And, a couple of super pretty & useful pieces of furniture! I’m so excited that I’ve started seeing attainable vanlife examples instead of the $50-100K buildouts that I can’t afford! I’m inspired! Thank you so so much! I love her home on wheels!
Diane, your build is absolutely genius! You figured out that you don’t need five ways to exit a van. And your thought processes were like mine. You are very relatable, and I loved your rationales as you churned through all the decisions you had to make. And I have a new idea for you! I’m an interior decorator turned archaeologist, so I appreciated your sophisticated palette, furniture. Plus, I sold window treatments and furniture for a long long time. Here’s my new “side window covering” idea for your van: What about creating a *wooden shade/shutter* for that side window? It would serve three purposes: 1) Window shade, 2) BR/LR lap table (hinged, drops down), 3) Display or storage That 3) is use a fine, finished wood board, so when it’s vertical/shuttered, you can display art, hang storage mesh, or snap on pockets, etc. Or rather than hinges (and figuring out a way to keep your drop-down “desk” level), you could just store the lapdesk there. Use a rounded decorative board in front of the window. Drop it into corner brackets. And don’t be afraid to really oversize that “shade.” It can be larger than the window that it hides. And you get a bigger table/counter/desk that way. Or SHADOWBOX. The top of an interesting garage-sale end-table and its under aprons, could be an almost instant solution, and it would create a shadowbox (it wouldn’t jut out that much, and it would provide quite a bit of storage in front of that window). But going back to the original lap desk: Attach a generously-sized mesh pouch, (into which you would store your pajamas, soft stuff), and that then completely removes, and becomes a cushy lap desk. In the winter, you could store your puffy winter jacket in that mesh, and use it for the cushion portion of the lap desk. Another idea, is that you could create a MEDIA Shadowbox/Window shutter, that is the exact size of a 12v TV, laptop, iPad, etc. Then right-side-hinge the media box, that is over your window. Swing it open. Watch/work from your bed lounge Or, hah! … slide open your van door, and watch TV from outside, through your window! Or you could play a slideshow of you, your van build, your brand, FAQs, while you’re at shows and events. Carol, Love your videos. You’re very relatable, and you get just the right mix of talking and moving the camera, and your interviewing skills are terrific. But there’s been a few times where you’re jumping from one part of the van to the next, and I don’t know where are you are in the next shooting sequence. It would be very helpful if you shoot an *establishing shot,* before going in tight on a cabinet or something. Why? Because we have no idea where in the van it is, unless you establish that wider shot first. Or if you forget to do that (re)establishing shot, you could do it with VoiceOver, or show a quick sketch of the van, like one of those park maps, where the X is, “you are here.” Or you could just add a label like, “Back of van, driver side.” Way to go gals! Sending good vibes from Albany New York.
Thanks so much Beth for taking the time to share all your great ideas. The suggestions on the camera work are really sound ones. Unfortunately, I am simply not that advanced at this point as I simply use my phone for all the footage. Hopefully one day I will be more advanced and can apply some of your great points.
I dunno about "not needing 5 ways to exit." I mean. Not until you have a bad fire, I guess. Even regular vehicles w/o lithium ion batteries can catch fire for no reason, they're just much easier to put out. Respectfully, I direct you to the limo fire that killed 9 people when the back (where the only doors were) caught from being badly overloaded on a bridge in CA. That would have been about 2012. A lot of people's only egrees was then that tiny window by the driver's seat. Then, a similar stupid accident happened when 19 in a stretch SUV were killed when the owner didn't bother to do any maintenance and the brakes failed. That killed 19, 17 in the truck, and 2 pedestrians in the restaurant parking lot. As I recall. That was NY, I think. I'm just saying, I want ALL my exits unencumbered. I can live without another cabinet. Please also remember, fire can not only outrun you easily, but it can outrun you in a car These things are small and usually kind of claustrophobic feeling, right up until you need to get out right this second. Jmo. Many vans you don't see any fire suppression, smoke alarms, CO2 (carbon monoxide) alarms (Co2 ones go by the floor, not by the ceiling) or any emergency gear of any kind.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 you make excellent points about fire safety. I think every van should have a fire suppression blanket, CO2 detector, fire extinguisher. And every time I make a fire outside, there’s always a 5 gallon bucket of water next to it. That limo accident in Schoharie New York happened by me. I had an acquaintance who died in that accident.
Very, very nicely done! I love the incorporation of “real” furniture, as the space feels more like a sticks n bricks. I also like the arrangement (bed by the sliding door and opening the rear). That’s very clever and the reasons shared are so accurate. The radiant floor really does appear to be very economical. I believe I may use it in my rig and really appreciate the tip.

This is the 1st time I’ve checked out one of your videos. You do a great interview with Diane the flow is fun, energetic, and encouraging for people who want to hit the road either full or part time. Thanks 🙏
So casual and homey ! And swifter than an Rv . She has her little dog to accompany her too, which helps the whole stay more safe, and probably better for doggie . I have a hard time finding my people who likes to camp also, but if they understood the camp-van idea.... but no, they have to have the stay-put, taxation/ security of a home
Homes on Wheels Alliance, HOWA ,has a Facebook groupnand also virtual chats in Sundays. They also have caravans you could join and an online site, Let's Camp Together where people meet up to camp together.
You'll never know how I tried moving around my 1950's enamel-top kitchen table And a Chair(!lol!) In my GMC conversion van... even tried fitting the foot of the bed under the table, ah, no...😆. Hers looks lovely.
Thanks Carol & Diane. I keep dreaming of my van appearing & having my lovely wooden rocking chair in it with my comfy bed ! As long as those two things fit nicely ,I'll make do with other things ! Love her idea & use of the Litter Genie ! I'd thought about a Diaper Genie ! Thinking hers might be a bit smaller & still doable !
LOVE this setup! I can't believe I never thought of using an old secretary as a desk/storage solution....it's perfect! (I've already got two desks that would work as the other piece she has.) I also love her general attitude about van life. "This is my life and I love it!" I'm afraid some folks let people who don't 'get' van life make them feel "less than" for living that way. That's so sad because these are really can-do folks, and should be respected more.
There is nothing less about folks doing van life. In fact many are so much happier than folks who feel stuck and don't know how to escape from jobs and lives they hate.
Excellent project from an excellent lady! She is enjoying her freedom of choices in an endless life adventure! A good lesson for all of us to follow ! I am waiting for my van to arrive soon ,and preparing to begin a parttime vanlife for start to learn the basics so i can live a fulltime vanlife in a few years i hope!
I wanted to climb in a refuse to get out! :-) What an amazing living 'room'! Her secretary heirloom and her fabric choices are so warm and inviting and cozy. So many spaces that make this more like a home than a van. Her closet. Her garage. Her heated floor. Her excellent portable 'bathroom" containers! I love that she closed off the side door to get that awesome garage and uses the back entrance. I agree with her so much better for privacy and also allowed her that great deck. You found a 'gem', Carol, for 'us' to tour and so thankful to tag alone to tour Diane's vanHome. I've been waiting with great excitement to see inside after your first meeting with Diane and it was well worth the wait!! Thank you!

Great ideal for the garage, and window ideal, thinking i could also do that on the back door, for the wider bed needed. Heated floor would never thought of it 😮

I really wish the creator would have put a link to Diane's channel, or given it when asked. Here is the link to Diane's channel if you have not found it yet: ua-cam.com/channels/2b8fux62_V51_45gB-sQXg.htmlvideos
I just love her spirit how she use what she had to create a cultivating life.
So delightful! It was like being in a hobbit story and a real magical vibe❤ transported by this sweet gem of lady! Its like stepping into a fantasy realm away from harsh reality!
Emma-Jean is the star of the video. What a character .
She is indeed. Right as I was starting the video she hooked up on my lap and demanded her turn🤣
The colors are cheerful and it's such a nice space to call Home Sweet Home!
BLESSED
What is her youtube channel?
Thanks;
This is the 1st time I’ve checked out one of your videos. You do a great interview with Diane the flow is fun, energetic, and encouraging for people who want to hit the road either full or part time. Thanks 🙏
I loved Diane's Ford Transit conversion!!!!
I agree 💯!
Great video van tour Ms. Carol. I love how creative she is and her use of things she already had such as her Grandmother's secretary. ❤
Isn't this a real display ofncreativity. That closet was really quite something.
Wow very cool! Did anyone catch the wheelbase of her van??
So beautiful. You've got a wonderful Rollin home. I love it all Diane.
She is awesome. I love the cleverness of her van.
You just exude peace and happiness. Enjoy your lovely home on wheels.
Love the functional ideas in your van; especially the litter Genie 🧞 idea!
Ha ha clean freak, love that you keep dusty stuff in roof storage!
Brilliant kitty litter toilet idea!
This is wonderful van 🚐 built. I truly love ❤️ this van 🚐. Congratulations on your van 🚐 built. You did a wonderful job.
You'll never know how I tried moving around my 1950's enamel-top kitchen table And a Chair(!lol!) In my GMC conversion van... even tried fitting the foot of the bed under the table, ah, no...😆.
Hers looks lovely.
Wow, this is beautiful van 🚐 built. She did wonderful job with our home. Thanks 🙏 for sharing daily video.
Genius! Thank you for sharing!
I never comment but… this lady inspires me. She has been able to keep her feminine side. Awesome Van!
Hey Diane I’m a Marylander as well .
Love your van and antique’s & of course your outlook on life . Stay safe keep on traveling .✌🏻
I must see your van when it is done.. A rocking chair will he a first for me🙂
Wow! What an inspiration.
So many new ideas for me to consider for my Cargo camper. What a nice lady. Thanks Carol for sharing this visit. From Central Oklahoma
This lady's diy van is so awesome. I just love it!.
Guests? Sleepovers? That was a surprise. Inspirational.
AN AMAZING LADY!!!!! THANK YOU DIANE.
Love this van with the antique furniture! I've subscribed to Diane's channel. Thanks for featuring her!
Such a joy!
Diane is indeed a joy to be around!!
I love the touches of color and the home furnishings . Excellent! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Excellent project from an excellent lady!
She is enjoying her freedom of choices in an endless life adventure!
A good lesson for all of us to follow !
I am waiting for my van to arrive soon ,and preparing to begin a parttime vanlife for start
to learn the basics so i can live a fulltime vanlife in a few years i hope!
Good luck and safe travels😊
Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed this tour Cindi. It took a while with some technical difficulties to get it aired but it was indeed worth the wait.l!
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 you put a lot of love into your channel and that shows. Technical stuff to me is beyond me at this age so simple for the kids :-) Thankful you got through the struggles to share this with us. Godspeed.
So lovely and creative! Just loved it! Thanks for the tour!

She really ism Thank you son much for supporting this lovely lady😊
Your interview was really good thank you so much for showing 💖💖💖💖💖
More gadgets than James Bond. Way cooL.. Probably most practical tricked out van build I've seen.. economical to boot 👍🏼👍🏼
You can see why it was so hard for me to pick a favorite thing in this build🤣
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 💯 on awesomeness!!! Great find.. Thank you both for shariing. 65 years super young that one 😎
What a beautiful person she has that wonderful energy and....she's awesome great interview! Beautiful van!!!
Diane has an amazingly positive and calming energy. You could just sense it.
Great ideal for the garage, and window ideal, thinking i could also do that on the back door, for the wider bed needed. Heated floor would never thought of it 😮
The heated floor is really a treat and for such a great price!
Wow !!! Awesome built . Thanks so much for sharing your home on wheels . And Thanks Gloria for putting the efforts to show us the world we haven't seen . God bless both of you 💖
This is a really fun van. I own or have owned the same furniture and I love that she can have some special furniture with her.
Really nice layout. It looks beautiful.
Awesome build. High five!
Really enjoyed this tour! Can you write out her youtube channel? I could not understand what she said. Thank you.
CultivateLife.
I would like the name of her channel
Thank you
It is cultivatelife. Make sure to add the period at the end.🙂
Not sure why this creator will not provide the link to Diane's You Tube channel when asked (I personally think it should be in the description as that is what creators do when videoing other creators...) but here is the link to Diane's you tube channel: ua-cam.com/channels/2b8fux62_V51_45gB-sQXg.htmlvideos
Carol. I’m new to van life and your channel. I would love to see your van
I just acquired a new to me van from a lovely young man. It is more man cave than I want and I am changing it into more of a lady cave🤣. Once that is done I will absolutely be doing a tour!!
@@gloriouslifeonwheels3621 sounds great
Hello Carol, she has a home away from home. It’s like she just went into the other room and Boom she’s in a van 🚐 With all the comfort of home. A lot of nice ideas 💡 even a heated floor who knew. So cool Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see your new beautiful Van and what designs and decor you come up with. I know you’ve gotten a lot of different tips to incorporate into yours.. Hummm 🤔🥱🥰😊🚐💨💨 Have a great day 🌟
I keep putting off the decorating of my van because with each tour I grt more and more great ideas like the radiant heated floors in Diane#@ van🤣
Lil baby dog watched everything she showed you! Omg chihuahuas and travel!
Hi Diane, another Diane here. I love what you did to build out your van. I'm a newbie van person who's in the process of building out my van.
And by the way, I'm an Interior Designer who trained many years ago with Lauri Ward, author of the book you mentioned, Use What You Have Decorating! I'm sharing your video with her- she'll be proud!
Dam 65 , I would of been happy to look that good at 50 , I must of hit to many branches on the way down the tree . Nice van, pretty girls, clever ideas 👁👁😊😊🐕🦺🙏👏👏🐨🦘🇦🇺
You really made me laugh out loud. (To many branches) lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I have to remember that one Graham.
Another great tour Carol and filled with more ideas that I need to jot down. I like her clothing as well, looks very comfortable and mix and matchable. Diane has really got her van tailored to her life style. Thanks for the tour!
Dian's van is the perfect accompaniment to her soothing personality and vibe🙂
Very livable and enjoyable design. ❤️ thanks for Sharing ❤️
Thank You! Lovely visit! God Bless from a Great Gran in MN
Oh gosh, what an inspiration you are, and I love what you have done with your van.
Diane.. I love yr home. Simple and comfortable.
Love the set up. awesome interview thanks.
The slide out deck is brilliant!👍
A bed that's abit narrower than a twin mattress is a bunk mattress. Perfect for the single person of average size. I agree that having space is more important than infrastructure.for some of us. I like the simple toilet set up. This gal has figured out everything.
I love this woman’s “can do” attitude. She reminds me so much of my sister. Great van ideas
I wanna be Diane in 3 years. What a wonderful home
Wishing you well on your future adventures on the road. 🙂
Another amazing build. Love to see when people have a vision and they achieve what they were going for. It’s always so interesting to watch these tours and see everyone’s creativity and ingenuity.
Smartest adjustments I’ve seen yet
I met her at the HOWA BYOV. We also stayed at the same camp during the van build. Great person
