The Bald Traveler Traveler is a channel about travel and helping everyone prepare for traveling. We believe that guided tours/vacations have their place but that to get the fullest out of your vacation you need to get off the beaten path and explore. This channel is a mix of Gear reviews, ASMR style walks in the places we visit so that you can see them too, and reviews of trips we've taken and sites we've seen.
Our goal is to bring you the information you need to confidently plan and go on the trip of your dreams. From what gear to take, to what to visit that is not typically included on the standard tour, to how we are planning our next trip. We hope you follow along and ask questions in the comments if you need help with your next trip.
Out Motto is to 'Travel Baldly' which is a play on the Star Trek Opening lines. We want to show you and help you Travel Boldy and with Confidence to enjoy your dreams and make memories that will last a lifetime.

New Camera - Flagstaff Garden Walk [4K]
I got a new camera and this video is one of the first trying to dial in the settings. We take an early Spring walk around Flagstaff Gardens on this short video. Melbourne has so much Green space and this is just one that I've also featured in other videos.

Gatorland USA Trip

One of the places we wanted to visit before leaving Florida was Gatorland. It is a unique theme park in the Orlando area, where Seaworld mixes both an amusement park with rides and animals, Gatorland is geared more towards the animals, Alligators specifically, and only has a train and zipline for rides. It is also significantly cheaper then the other parks coming in at less then $20 for Florida...

Thank you.
Beautiful shopping centre. Nice tour!
melbourne..awesome city!
also. the locals won't warn you about the crocs on the beach. Just keep your wits about you
Not the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is a high rise monstrosity south of Brisbane
Cairns to the Gold Coast is 1,770km and around 24 hours driving time. Also, it's not the promenade but the Esplanade.
Cairns is on the "Cassowary Coast" the "Gold Coast" is Southern Queensland
Do you have a web link to this airbnb ?
Thanks. I missed it when I visited.

I have the same problem. I bought a nut from the local hardware store to put at the top of threaded stud but it wouldn’t clear the internal screw heads that attach the track to the door header. When I got home I ground it pretty much to half the original thickness with my belt sander. & installed it with no problems. However the nut, due to road vibration, worked it loose on my next trip. I just went to WalletMart and bought a tube of blue Lock-tight& coated the nut and shaft that goes through trolley. So far so good. Hopefully it’ll hold till I get home, if not I’m trying your fix next!!!
Hey i saw in one of your comments you recommend this for euro trip backpacking. I'm seriously considering this . Have they made you check in this bag ever? I'm between this and an osprey 46 . It can't be that much bigger... Your help is truly appreciated
Thank you so much for sharing 😊
man~ awsome , ;))
We are about to do the same thing in our Class C for the same reasons. How do you like it after all these months? Would you have done anything different? Great video and nicely done! Thanks.
The modification worked well for us. I think the only change we would have made was to mount the monitor to the desk and add a way to secure the chairs while moving. We laid the desk chairs down but it would have been nice to simply lock them in with a strap or something.
Sounds like you guys have a good solid plan. I need to follow your example..
In the first video, I thought the channel rail was installed incorrectly too far back. It can be moved then the roller will have room and in this video you mention doing that. We have the same door in our '19 375FL.
Appreciate the review! Wandrd is running a big summer sale and I was looking to add this bag to my collection for some upcoming backpacking in Asia! Thank you for posting the Gobi Tan…the best color! BTW new sub for you #53. We vlog about how to travel cheap and free using credit card rewards!
Thanks for sharing, would love to visit someday!
It's been a minute since you got this bag and I'm wondering what your thoughts are during this time. Would you still recommend it and, if not, what would you recommend over it?
Yes I would still recommend this bag if you are going to be doing a lot of walking or moving between locations every 2-3 days over a multi-week trip. Especially in Europe where there are more cobble stoned streets. If you are going to be staying in one location for a longer period of time ( 1 week +) I would instead recommend the Prvke and a standard wheeled suitcase. On my last trip to Europe I took the Prvke and an EBag hard sided carryon suitcase because we were staying in places for around a week each. For my next trip this winter I will be taking the Fernweh so that I don’t have to pull anything over the cobblestones of Portugal.
greetings~ Thhe,like. that is gorgeous shots, ;))

Thank you for posting the two videos about the pivot door. We have been battling with the hardware for nearly a year and after watching your videos, we had it fixed in 15 minutes! Thanks again.
Do you think this would work for backpacking? Camera body two lenses sleeping bag tent and a few other small things?
Yes I think so. I do something similar. If you want to access your camera while hiking get the route pack and clip it to the front straps, or use a peak design camera clip. I find accessing the camera if I put it into the bag itself a pain while walking as you need to drop a strap and swing the pack around to get to it. With the Essential or essential+ camera cube you can access the camera from outside using the side door they have. The Mini cube isn’t setup for this but offers more room in the bottom for heavy things. Right now I have my body and one lens in the Route pack, I then have my other 2 lenses I travel with and my DJI mini in my essentials+ cube so I can access them quickly when I’m out and about. I strap my sleeping bag to the bottom of the bag using accessory straps. I then put my tent either in the water bottle pocket or strap it to the back with more accessory straps depending on it’s size. I don’t use the water bottle pocket because it is zippered and I need to swing the bag around to get a water bottle out, I really wish they would have just used the standard mesh side pocket for water bottles over what they did. I use a water bladder instead for my water. Just something to keep in mind.

Less turns and slower…getting air sick from the fast turns….
Still working on flying the drone it’s not like flying a real plane.
Second video coming with minor upgrade to solution
New video will be up Monday
Great work! The finished product looks fantastic!
Thanks it’s been working really well for us.
I don’t know why but the audio cuts out at 8:32. It’s fine on the original video file I uploaded. Sorry for that, I may upload this again later to see if it fixes the audio.
You always need more power :)
Yes you do.
We really liked the food here at the restaurant. If you are passing through TN between Nashville and Knoxville this is worth a stop especially for a night or if you want to go catfish fishing.
Yikes! So many things to learn and remember! Glad you're figuring it all out! Safe travels!
Yes between Sue and I we’re figuring it out.
Hi Bald Traveler, Nice detailed review. After a year, do you still recommend a Gobi Tan color over the black?
I do I think the wear marks and dirt scuffing give it character. I haven’t used it as much as I planned to due to the current situation but I feel it has held up well. Either color is fine, I’m just not a black bag person as it seems that’s what every else has when traveling and I want my bag to stand out. I’m currently working on a what’s going in my bag for 2022 travel, so I will give an update when I finalize the contents and film the video in the coming weeks.
Just some updates on this video as we sit here in Virginia in the cold weather missing Arizona’s warmth. 1. The Generator works, we can drain a 30lb propane tank in about 10 hours of constant use so that’s good to know. 2. We did swap the table for a desk just recently. You’ll see that in our house tour video. 3. The house did sell while we were on the road.
Where are the links to the items you mentioned in the video?
Sorry I added the missing link for the discounted Harvest Host Membership
Great review! Would the Route bag fit a Sony 100-400 gm with the hood attached to the camera? Cheers 🍻
It should fit but you will need to open the expansion pocket at the bottom. I checked and it looks like that lens is 200mm or 8”. I don’t have any lenses that long but I did stack 2 lenses and my body to get that length and I needed to open the expansion section. I will try and upload a quick video in the next day showing how to do it.
Shorter was so much better…
Shorter length videos would be better so you can explain details week by week
Love the update! Can't wait to see your videos from the road!
