#Bach #TinaGuo #Cello
Video filmed and edited by Joel Moody
For those who have said that her version is too fast... much of Bach's work doesn't have a clear indication of tempo (as is the case of Cello Suite #1). Bach was a baroque composer- a period in music where pieces are notorious for being brisk. Because of that commonality, and after studying Bach's body of work, it can be assumed that this piece would follow that logic.
All the harmony for Suite #1 has to be implied through clever arpeggiation and this effect wouldn't be as articulated if played too slowly. Momentum is required to make sense of this particular Bach composition and to help it flow.
In my personal opinion, this is one of the most lovely renditions of this piece. The tempo is just right for me. Too many cellists also keep their bowing detached, which I feel lessens the intensity and emotion behind this beautiful and well-known cello suite. This is quite close to perfect. Her phrasing and intonation is just amazing. Very well done.
I think the important thing about the music is you can see that it is played with passion and emotion, and not just fingered and bowed. You are an amazing artist and looked forward to hearing more of your pieces.
Thanks so much Patrick!
Tina Guo it has my last name in the title LMAO
i'll rowl the joint we spoke it together, reason is cause i said so so shut up and pour me glass off red wine and shut up
i failed english, lol
I wonder how much of music is the face play
I see comments from people saying the Prelude was too fast, but it's a cover, not a replication of the piece.
+Dalton Bridevaux no one determines what the "correct" way to play a piece is ;)
+Tina Guo :3 agreed when somone's playing its his emotions and his feelings who detrmine the piece played , you can still play the same notes but not get same effects :) i like this though
+Tina Guo I thought it was played beautifully and as a fellow cellist was in awe at the end. Well done!
Dalton Bridevaux There is a distinct difference between musicality and immaturity of expression. When a student rushes in the bach suites, you give them a metronome until they've learned the piece correctly. After that point they are free to stretch the tempo or even change it outright. That is not the same as rushing. This interpretation is defined by a robotic acceleration in tempo and phrasing. Simply put: Learn your instrument then be a musician

omg that dress is so beautiful.
Thanks Vivian! Amazon find, hehe
what I wish were true... I wish you were my Shanghai Baby... but, I'm not coming on, I'm an old married man living in the Republic of Texas. I saw the you and Joe doing Woke Up Dreaming and flipped out! I have been bragging on you and telling people you are magic... but, it's not true. If you were magic it would be easy. You are a gifted and talented cellist that knows how to work. And, above it all you have an anointing from God to make music that pleases His Sacred Heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ms. Tina Guo.
I'm trying to sleep but I can't stop watching your videos!
+Eva xy Aw so sorry! hehe
Having it too
How can this only have 14k likes, with over 1M views 🤷🏼♀️
That cello belongs in your hand. It wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Kindred spirits for all I can say. You are amazing. Much love.
such beauty everywhere. the environment, the instrument, and the musician
I love how she hits that C sharp @ measure 20 and puts little bits of vibrato here and there...nailed that end crescendo 👌overall awesome playing great job 🎼🎻🎶
Every aspect of this: location, hair, makeup, lighting, cinematography, music ... LOVED IT!
I didn't have high expectations after hearing this particular piece played many times, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Arthur! Means a lot coming from a fellow cellist!
Tina Guo That was beautiful!!!! Thank you! I played a lot of Bach and he wasn't noted for putting arbitrary tempos on ,well, anything!! Loved it!!!! Bach was my God for a lot of years. Former French horn player here, although cello is my favorite stringed instrument! If I'd have had the chance, the cello would have been my choice! The Horn and the Cello are soulmates to my ears, they are so beautiful!
Use to love string quartets ,accompanied by French horn! When I die,I hope the soundtrack of my eternity is on French horn and Cello!!!
one of my favorites ,the cello is in another world so expressive
The cellos color is so pleasing.
I have to admit, as an ardent rocker, who got here from Joe Bonamassa, An Acoustic Evening at Carnegie Hall, I am entranced by your music. It's like the first time I heard Eva Cassidy, a similar experience for me. Thanks.
I think im the only one in 2021 who is listening to u , you are so peaceful and beautiful ❤️
This is such a beautiful piece and she plays is beautifully. I don't think its toofast I think you can play how you want
I don't Know what's the sorrow hiden into the deep of your heart... Your Interpretation move me to tears... I Never lisen some version alike this... You drill my soul, Pierced my heart and touched the depest pains to take them out in a beautiful way... Your hands and fingers made poetry with this piece. Thank you for sharing your soul. You are an interpreter, not a replicant. I loved and I can't stop listening this over and over and over again...
This is truly peace, calm, solitude and tranquility in the form of music.
You are amazing Tina, as you were born to play the cello❤️
Thank you so much for your support!
My 5 and 7 yrs old boys and me love how you play to the point my boys tried to follow your fingertips on your Cello and practice to do what you're doing with their toys and it got to the point my seven-year-old wants me to buy a Cello for him so he can learn to play Just Like You Are
Her hair miraculously changes from over her right shoulder to behind her right shoulder. nice editing.
+laymanc Probably because they just had one camera. So multiple takes and then added the scenes together at the end.
+Asif Jamil duh
I heard this on an amazon giveaway and now I just keep coming back to play this over and over. It's so lovely to listen to.
Saw Yo Yo Ma play this on a TV special, had to buy the album. Now I find another one just as beautiful. Thank you for your music.
thank you Robert!
Abner Altea; Very good a Music prelude from Bach"S Cello Suite No.1-Congratulations Tina Guo..
I can hear her left hand fingers touching the cords with so much strenght that rasonates on the fingerboard (a wood sound) ... I think she is realy concentrate to play with perfection! love it!
I don't know what is more impressive, if her beauty or her talent.
Those fingers are really strong! only years of practices can make someone able to play the Cello like that!! Respect Miss Tina!
Perfect pace..Perfect piece and PERFECT P.E.A.C.E.
Thank you.
Whenever I listen to anything Bach or classical, I can literally see the notes and waves of music playing in front of me. It's so insanely beautiful.
❤❤🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙💜💜
I've been in love with this song ever since I heard it in Master & Commander.
It still mesmerizes me.
So much beauty...where to begin?? The artist, the music, the natural setting, my favorite cello piece?? Thank you, Tina, for making my day. :)
and Thank you for listening!
A real treat in every sense - visually and musically, and played with passion, slender fingers dancing up and down the strings; played it through 3 times. So thank you very much for sharing.
I got a cello last week, and signed up for lessons right away. I had my first lesson today and couldn't believe how hard it was. We spent an hour and a half trying to just hold the bow correctly. By the end, my arm was shaking and I was gripping the frog between my fingers so hard the blood was gone. The teacher was holding up my arm and had her other hand under my wrist to remind me to keep it up close to the cello and drop it further out. Wow.. If I can actually hold the bow by Christmas, it'll be a good bit of progress.. If I can play hot cross buns by this time next year, it'll be a miracle.... haha. It *is* fun though, in a weird way.
Classics like this anytime!
Off work with flu. Binge watching your whole channel.... good medicine.
Oh no! Hope you're feeling all better!
I like the place that you filmed it it is like going into your back yard in 7 AM in the morning to see the sun and to play the cello the scene matches you playing the cello bravo
that garden sounds so much like a room
Hi Daniel, it's a music video. What happens is that you record the song with a microphone into a computer (an audio recording) and then to make a video for that audio recording, you record the video, and match it to the audio. Every single music video on earth is made this way. Thank you!
I love her version. I listen to this every few days. Helps me relax.
An outstanding performance by one of the greatest cellists ever
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Keep playing tina
I have been playing the cello for 8 1/2 months, and I have to say that this is the best cover of Prelude that I have ever heard! It was amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I just discovered this wonderful artist...been spending to much time under my rock.
Breathtaking in every way. Tina captured the essence of the days last light beautifully in this video.
What does it feel like to be so gifted? I am so envious of you gift. Please continue sharing your gifts for us to enjoy. Thank you! :)
It likely feels like thousands of hours of difficult work brought about by dedication and passion.
I like that. She was/is a prodigy born with an awesome gift I wish I had.
Thank you so much for listening and sharing! Music would be much less interesting and passionate if there was no one to share it with.
Gracias por la belleza de la música que interpretas, y por toda la pasión y entrega en su interpretación que la hace ser fascinante ,
Beautiful Tina absolutely Beautiful bravo!!
Congratulations!!! Wonderfull , Bach really talks to God!!!
WOW.
That´s called INTERPRETATION...it´s not too fast, it´s just how she feels the music. If u think she´s playing fast, u need to listen my interpretation of the moonlight sonata...I turned the song almost into a dubstep...hehehehehehehe!!!
I love the Moonlight Sonata! And Dubstep!
Also, you can hear the rubato in it so there’s some give and take which makes it a great interpretation and not too fast
One of my Favorite songs performed by her AWESOME!
Ok I just need to stop and get back to work! Fantastic music and what range, don't ever get back into the box!
I love the way that you perform since make up, dressing, photography and of course your technique at cello. It seems that you take care of every detail to make this video an unforgettable experience.
Because of my love of Bach's Cello Suite no.1 - I am now the newest Tina Subscriber!! Keep on playing with such clear expression and passion
crying with emotion most excellent
Brought me to tears. Amazing.
I'm getting all kinds of emotional listening to this piece! I love it!!
Love those low C and D's
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL playing Tina! Your artistry shines.
Bewitching and Enchanting!
a wonderful gift for the day right in the morning...love to you...
Thank you Tina Guo, you is the example of the most beautiful representation from cello sound
This is just Beautiful. ❤💯💢👌👏👏👏🎶🎵🎼
Que hermoso... felicidades por tu interpretación
absolutely beautiful and totally enchanting
Oh my God. I have no words for this.
It's a love making piece. Close to climax it gets fast, then it slows down
Two and a half minutes to lead up to a perfect arpeggio... worth it.
my favorite piece of classical music
To be honest This piece really speaks to me. I love the the cello`s vast emotion and this piece is so incredible suited to it.
Lindsey Stirling + Tina Guo = Duet of a Life Time
Hell yea
:D
That would be awesome! She is super cool!
Ya
And then Valentina Lisitsa on the Piano !! =D That would be just simply Mindblowing !
i feel like i am out of Tina's videos . We need more .
Muito bom quando escutei essa música no filme ``se eu ficase`` conheci o cello que não hávia visto me apaixonei Parabéns é uma ótima música!!!
Probably my favourite interpretation of this prelude. I'm getting this piece ready for an audition in just over a month so this really helped me! Thank you!
I'm nosy. How did the audition go? 😜
The thing about the prelude...whatever the interpretation, the ‘god’ is at the fingers...
The piece has absolute, inherent divinity in it...
It is perfection.
The speed is perfectly fine to me and it sounds better than, at least, one of Yo-Yo Ma's live performances. Bravo, Tina! Bravo! Thank you for the video and for helping me to realize I can only tolerate seeing someone wear light pink clothes if it is not only knitted or silk but, may, also, be playing Bach's Suite 1 Cello at the same time. God bless you!
One of the few to play this prelude in full bow legato, it's magnificent and so much more melodic, Bravo! You are really inspiring, I discovered you in Hans Zimmer Live In Prague, and what a show!
I like the emotion in this one.
Oh. This is really impressive. You captured Bach's transcendence.
Adore the sound of your cello, beautiful bass resonance.
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written & Tina breathes new life into it.
Awesome love cello music 😀👍🎶🎻🇨🇦
You get really good, pure tone out of your instrument on the prelude. On the C, too. Now, I've heard other professionals honk out whole measures of the prelude even though they slur almost every one. Maisky, though amazing, does it. Kliegel, too, comes to mind. But you, what's the secret to your amazing tone? It's really pure and strong.
Very nice. I am playing the Prelude from Bach Suite No. 1 myself, and this will certainly give me some ideas as to how to approach it.
I didn't think it was too fast at all. As long as an artist maintains control and doesn't sacrifice the richness of the notes, I don't have a problem with interpretations that are faster than usual. I actually enjoyed Tina's interpretation so much that I listened to it several times in a row--something that I rarely do--and the tempo never bothered me in the slightest. Well done, Tina!
This perfect performance
Now this is music.
Always a favorite; and you play with such grace and feeling; thank you.
John
I've seen this wonderful video many times...
I am trying to play it with my guitar, but it will be impossible to equal as much pure beauty...
You are # 1.

Chip it's called a music video...you know you record the video and put the music with it later
+Billy Bob it's called sarcasm
Chip I don't get it, what's sarcasm
Chip Whahaha!
Dear Tina, I love your stunning rendition of cello suite No 1 in G Major. Your music has given me great emotion 👏♥️
Even the great Slava if he had listened to you would have applauded you enthusiastically ♥️🙏♥️
It's a really beautiful performance just like you, a big greeting from Argentina. I hope you come some day!
