I met him and some other birdhouse members on my 8th birthday. They were at my local skatepark on tour, and there was sponsors, like hexbug and tech deck. Being 8, I wanted to tell everyone It was my birthday, and while I was messing with the remote control tech decks hexbug/tech deck had, I said it was my birthday. And they got me a VIP wristband for free. And I got to talk with Tony and Aaron, and Tony was showing me how to try to Ollie, bc I had my own board. And I got a signed poster and their autographs

Although making video games is pretty complex compared to playing them
I lost it around 8:00 when the dev said he asked Tony and Tony just sent back a picture of the amusement park ride like he knew exactly what the dev was talking about. Also from all the stories that Tony tweets about not recognizing him, I feel like Tony must have thought this was fun and cool that people still had so much interest in his brand and games
The American Sk8land Beverly Hills reference is just a fart joke, you have to turn off all the music and such and just have sfx on and it's just a fart noise that plays in the bushes near the back end of the level, it is a specific bush tho

This is hilarious because I worked with Kurt and he used to annoy the shit out of me. Then he moved from Activision QA to Neversoft QA and I never saw him for a while. Good to see that he annoyed some people over there as well.

This seems like the most chilled out, cool game development processes ever.
QA (Games) Tester here: The mysterious 'Face' at 18:25 is actually a question mark (?). You can see the thin and blurred connections between the 2 'eyes' and more obviously on the 'right eye' and the 'nose' where the black line extends and curves down then up again before forming the 'nose'. The 'mouth' is the question mark dot.
I have seen this on a previous game I have worked on where a texture might be missing. This is usually on an unused object that's out-of-bounds since the designers would think no-one would be able to see it however, as we can see there are always bugs where you can get out-of-bounds!
I couldn't find the exact or a similar font but hopefully you're able to see it :) Also, really great video! Loved the "100 Things" one so this was an awesome addition.

@ It's actually pixelated because it has been stretched. It was probably a texture that once existed then got removed but the object remained and the code is trying to read what is on that texture but can't, kinda like an error message.

I love the conspiracy theories as much as the next chump but I also love that whenever a fan interviews and artist or creator it's a whole bunch of "yeah that was an accident, that one was to save money, that one was an inter office joke." it's never "yeah we totally planned that" lol.

I love that oddheader does his research, and gets in contact with developers
You know what's so fun about all these easter eggs and fun little things? It shows that the game designers were actually humans and that they liked what they were doing and were having fun at it. It shows that they worked in a friendly environment where they were allowed to make jokes and have the ability to express their creativity in the games as opposed to having to work by a strict scheme and rules.This resulting into really great games where it shows that passion was put into it.
This unfortunately is what often really lacks into todays games in my opinion.

“Test Skin Cut” appears to be a bird skin that was cut because it animated incorrectly

"Skinning" in modeling is the action of "attach" a mesh to a rig (the bones used to animate a model), so "test skin cut" could refer to a test for that "skin" animations that was cut or originally used in a cutscene.

17:40 The Skin Model Video! Definitely a bird animation, but I don't know what the object is. Maybe the model is just a low poly bird model and animation used for no other reason than to test the human skin tones in different lighting? That's my guess. The reason why it is a bird and not a human? Maybe they considered if they tested it on a human with animation and such, it could be considered "naked" and the ESRB could get involved like GTA.

All the old retro footage at 21:58 makes me want to go back and watch all the old Rodney Mullen videos again. There'll never be another skater on quite the same level as Rodney. If there was ever a Greatest Of All Time, Rodney Mullen is it, end of story.
Check out June Saito and Jonny Gigger. Jonny has replicated almost all of Rodney's tricks and almost as good. June is young and very cool to watch.

"There was no online play and you couldn't extend gameplay" that's kinda sad, as we will never come back to times with such golden secrets in games...
It still blows my mind that OH got a game producer to sit down and talk with him about these mysteries and he sounds like a pretty cool guy. Not only that, but the skating legend himself Tony Hawk was kind enough to clarify that UFO easter egg. It just goes to show that when the gaming community come together in search of answers, they can get results. I honestly had a blast watching this.
