A few years ago, I rode the Heck 50 miler at a time in my life when my mental health was really suffering and I was lacking direction and commitment to self-improvement. While I can't claim everything is great now, I can absolutely tell you that training for and riding that race helped me find the direction I needed to start on the road to greater happiness. This film is awesome. Congrats to the filmmakers and Jeremy for putting on a great event year after year.
Came for the video, stayed for the story. Thanks for sharing your personal journey so openly, thank you thank you and wishing you, your wife and family all the best!
This needs to go on for 2hours!!! Please make many different versions. Vets on bikes, midlife crisis on bikes, men on bikes etc! Thank you for this video, I could go on and on.
I would love to create more content like this. I totally hear you. The bike is a wonderful vehicle of change in many lives. Thank you for watching and for your enthusiasm about this project. It means a lot.
That was not what I was expecting......it turned out to be so much more. Glad you and your family pulled through; thanks for sharing in this lovely film.
I also work in mental healthcare, and six months ago i started going on longer rides up here in northern Norway on my gravel bike. Longest ride in the summer was 147 km Through some of the most beautiful farmland id ever seen. It was always right in my vicinity, but id never had a reason to travel there by car. After that long ride, i felt privileged to be alive.
Today I was thinking of quitting... XL Biking has a beautiful mission, but it needs backers, here in Europe they're so hard to find :( Anyway, watching "The Good Line" made me reconsider. This short video was able to convey what I was feeling, and I want to thank everyone involved in producing it! I've already sold a bike, and was thinking of selling the gravel bike - not anymore! I wanna ride, I want to keep on fighting so fat riders like me can have the apparel they need to keep riding too! Thank you so much!
As a fellow ER/Med-Surg. Lic. Nurse I understand.........................The message was brilliant and with excellent content. Thank you for sharing your "vulnerability" here and in "paying it forward" in the way you do. A+
A cycling film that is really a metaphor for life in many ways. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing with the world - I applaud your emotional courage to do so, I got something out of it!
The part where he was talking about breaking down and having that emotional release... I recently had an almost identical experience. I've never seen everything so clearly or the same since. I hope everyone finds their moment of grace.
Greetings from Vladivostok! I myself ride a bike in one, shoot videos and edit videos purely for myself. To review them and wonder - did I really do it? I'm already 38. You know, at first the video was ordinary for me, like everyone else. But the monologue of words and the shots of plunging into the pond are just amazing, to the point of goosebumps (I already felt the temperature of the water). Good luck, health and a smooth road.
My wife was not interested in cycling and did not understand what it meant to me. Of course there was also a lack of communication on my side. In the end we got divorced. But I am healthy and cycling will allways be part of me. And it will never disappoint me. Thank you so much for your awesome video about lessons in live and how to find a ballance. And one comment ot the guys at youtube: This is one of these videos you DO NOT interrupt with stupid commercials!
Oh man, that part about addiction really resonated wtih me. Though I never had such emotional moments on the bike, for me a certain song really hit that spot.
This was such a joy to watch. Having made the drive from Canada a few times to do this event. I can say that Jeremy taking the time to greet you as finish is wonderful. Can't wait to make the drive again.
Possibly the most relatable thing I’ve ever watched. I have been going through a very similar enlightenment the last few months with my wife. Thanks for sharing.
Read the title and was not at all sure what to expect. Very pleasant surprise, grinding the dirt miles, having some soul time and coming out with a way to improve the most important things in your life. Great presentation and right on the mark!
I like your words! Trying to find that line again. I’m 66 now. At 35, I rode as much as I could, but riding seemed to get in the way of raising 4 boys with my beautiful wife. It truly didn’t have to, but it did. So, riding diminished to practically nothing. I now have the time, but just finding it very very hard to find those regular rides to bump up the base miles. Your film provides some incentive for sure!! I hope to see you at the heck of the north in ‘23 … maybe even ‘22 if I could find that “ON” switch. Thanks for the help.
I’m glad you found inspiration in the film! I’ll be riding my first Heck this weekend. Haven’t had time to train due to work and raising young kiddos, but am absolutely looking forward to a full day of pedaling and time spent with my own thoughts. Thanks for watching and engaging.
your right i did the same race bike touring bike cruising bike mtb bike gave them all away! just now found the on switch loving my mtb and cruiser but i still need that race bike long distance high! im 69 im not done yet! thank you for your post!
Good for you, I like the "Good Line" making that bigger move from avoiding those depressions and ruts, a couple yards away, to getting through life. Cycling helps, one ride at a time... time so well spent.
Time in the saddle is definitely well spent. I find that even a quick commute to work will suffice. Meeting Jeremy and getting to tell his story definitely got me a little more interested in longer rides. Thanks for watching.
@@blueforestfilms A pleasure, you added another "level" to most cycling postings, it was meaningful and appreciated. Gravel, is a relatively new genre for me, just built my second dedicated gravel bike, from a carbon cross frame, I was so happy to find that I could fit 40mm tires, It was a happy day! Still ride road and mtb...but if I could only have one bike.... gravel, it would be.
Hi Jeremy, Really enjoyed the short film, honesty and the message it conveyed. We all will/do go through similar difficulties that life brings our way. I hope and wish that we all have the good fortune of finding " The Good Line" keep pedaling 🙏
Outstanding storytelling and reflections here. Not my situation, but still speaks so much to the deeper meaning that cycling also has for me. An amazing 11min-journey. Thanks for that- Holger [Saddles & Bars VLOG]
Thank you for posting this. Just about clicked away at the beginning when it looked like it was about to be another "technical" how to improve your riding video. Instead, it turned out to be a beautiful story. I rediscovered cycling through the Gravel genre, getting back on the bike at the beginning of the pandemic after a 15 year absence. It has helped me to rediscover a core element of myself, and in doing so, renewed my zest for life, at 62. Bless you and your family.
Outstanding video packed with so much. Very timely for me as I navigate very uncertain waters. Cycling has been my sanity for years.... For such a time as this, I’m so glad I stumbled on this video! God bless!
I’m glad you recognized the vulnerability in this. I can’t speak for Jeremy but I imagine there is a sense of freedom in speaking truth like he did. Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic and inspiring film. Wish it was longer. Certainly made me think about cycling and how it affects my mental health..in a good way. Thank you for sharing.
So much more than I expected. I figured... meh... another gravel drone video. Meh... I was wrong. This was great. Thanks for putting it together. Duly forwarded to the short list.
I really enjoyed this and your honesty has made me think about myself and those close to me, I’m in England but hope I can ride your roads in the not too distant future. Thanks 🙏
Man, I was half listening to this while working and then right around when you started talking about your life feeling rusty, like you'd gotten off the good line- that caught my attention. Thanks fro makin this. Gonna go sign up for some races.
Great video, felt the emotions there. I'm a nurse as well working in surgery for 10yrs and been riding for 4yrs now. The sense of just riding your bike gives me that peace and ability to just go away from all the stress. Last year was tough for my wife and I as I would be gone for half a day of weekends when riding, got her a bike and took her riding with me. She then understood the joy and sense of peace that I find when I ride. It's still currently snow melting season at the moment here but I can't wait to ride outside and take my wife with me and hopefully my son as well when he's a bit older. This video hits home for me. Thank you for making this video.
Great movie Jeremy. You and your team did an amazing job of capturing the spirit of gravel as well as The Heck and the impact it can make in our lives.

Very glad the film resonated with you. Staying on that line is a constant task. Enjoy the ride!
God Bless You, Sir!
Nice bro. Hope the fog is still burning away for you. Ride on.
Beautiful thoughts, thanks for sharing.
I need that exact direction…
Thanks Jeremy. The bike is amazing medicine for the soul. Post leukemia... the bike is STILL bringing me back to being my FULL SELF again.
Thanks for watching, Matt!
An accurate representation of what biking can do for one's mental health. Huge props to you for being open and honest!

Great Movie! It´s describe the meaning of Life. Family and riding a Bike. You don´t need even more in life
I was really surpriised by this film. It was unespected but loved that! Enjoy life.
Thank you!
I too have broke down in tears on a long hike for no reason. It's amazing what your brain will let you hear when you turn everything off.
Very well done sir.. I to have broke and cycling brought me back..
That was not what I was expecting......it turned out to be so much more. Glad you and your family pulled through; thanks for sharing in this lovely film.
Thanks, Ron.
Awesome man, for you, your family and what cycling means to alot of people, it's about connection
Have a good one, and always enjoy

Very honest appraisal. You admit your love for the hobby is out of whack but then say you love it. I think that’s beautifully honest.
