- The bass guitar on this song, and every song on the 1971 album Imagine, was recorded by Klaus Voormann. He was the Beatles long-time friend from Hamburg, who created the iconic Revolver album cover
He used a 1962 Fender Precision Bass for his entire career, stripped down to its natural finish. He placed a foam mute underneath the strings, near the bridge. For Oh My Love, he plugged into an Ampeg B15 bass amp
George Harrison played the lead guitar on this song, on his Gibson 'Lucy' Les Paul. He plugged into a Fender Twin Reverb
For this cover, I'm using my 1978 Fender Precision Bass and plugging it into my 1965 Fender Bassman. I put a piece of foam under my strings, like Klaus did
I'm also using my 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard. It has OX4 Low-Wind Alnico 4 PAF Pickups in it. Lucy Les Paul had Alnico 3 PAFs. I'm plugged into my 1974 Fender Pro Reverb, a similar silverface amp to the Twin Reverb. Here are my knob settings on the neck pickup:

I actually didn't know this John Lennon song but as soon as I read its from Imagine Album I knew it was gonna amazing, I have another petition of a cover. I'm surprised you haven't done "Free as a Bird", but no rush, its a great relaxed song, even sounds easy to play. Up to you, great cover as always!

excellent job as usual. i adore the footage of them at JOHN's house working on the tune just seeing two BEATLES working together again is magic. imo 'all things must pass', 'cloud 9', 'mccartney', 'band on the run', 'plastic ono band' and 'imagine' are the best BEATLES solo albums and the footage of them recording the album is incredible.

I love nerd questions haha. I can't say for certain what string gauge they used then, but we know they used roundwounds. Most likely in the 10-11 gauge

So lovely; one of the things that has struck me in the past few years is how so many of the isolated tracks on that album work on their own as instrumental music completely outside of the song. The Flux Fiddlers tracks are downright cinematic on their own, and this sure as hell is too. Another piece of perfection, Sam. Thanks as always for sharing it with us.
