Thank you so much for this video because I'm not looking to just buy someone's design or knock off design. I want to start my own brand with quality fabric. This isn't a side hustles it's long term for me.
Great series of video's!! I'm in the same situations as others "manufacturing for my garment product and creating my prototype. I've been looking for years !! I'm ready to become a wholesaler in volume.
Thanks so much. I love you the pace at which you speak and your directness (not going off on tangents). A lot of videos are a chore to listen to & watch.
Great video. I was wondering if you could do another one on the next step in this process. I'm just trying to get some more infor on the cut and sew process.
ashley thanks for responding. For starting classes definitely check them out. Great resource and hands on training. I'll post a video on a few different ones as well.
@John Santos you might want to update this video. I was looking for a way to save money on Fabric. So I was going to check out Fabric Exchange, and I am thankful I saw the reviews for that company because they are stealing people money and not producing any orders. Be bless.
What "stuff" are you making? Google what you are making... for example, I do swim and fitness wear. So when I started I looked up swimwear companies and many offered custom or "no branding" manufacturing. You can contact them and ask if they make what you are doing. Don't get discouraged! If you search Wholesalers for what you are making... again many will offer making products for others. Let me give you another example. I found a swimwear manufacturer on the west coast when I didn't know how to sew. So I sent the my patterns and what I wanted. I was able to make a deal with them that totally help me get started. They offered to make my designs, warehouse and even drop-ship under my label "Devious Designs" but I had to allow them to also put their label on my designs. Now before you do something like this, make sure you get all of the fact and terms. Like in photography, a photographer would rather cut off their arms and legs and die before handing over RAW images. Don't be like that! Be flexible as I was. There was no way I could sew and the amount this company could, plus put my label on my designs, warehouse and drop-ship world-wide. So I cut a deal for a small percentage of my designs sold under their name and we did a 60-40% split on sales. Every manufacturer will be difference but again don't get discouraged!
Dana Grey thanks that sounds great, how much did you have to pay for that or did the company take care of the upfront cost because they was in business with you and they had a 60/40 split with you?
hey John Santos my question is do you self storage and ship all your yourself products or do you use an outside company similar to ship wire that does everything for you
tracking down a physical store will be tough. Especially if you are trying to find it in your city. Normally they will sell it at a markup if it's something you can buy in stores. If you're looking for wholesale prices, best bet is online. There are numerous sites. T-shirtwholesaler or blankshirts are good starting sites.
John, you are always on POINT with your information. I just finish one of your videos about fabric sourcing at the Magic Show and I found this video! NO FABRIC-NO PRODUCT. What about pricing information for wholesale fabrics!!! Kathy
Fuck dude!!! this video is fucking awesome!!! i love all the info..its so useful because not everybody will give this advice...i have watched many of your videos and i can tell you know what the hell you're talking about..I've been in the sewing industry for more than 10 years and people come to my studio wanting to begin their clothing lines and they don't even know how many yards is needed for their samples..so thank you for teaching so when they get to me, we can turn their dreams into awesomeness reality.....✌💜💜..
My problem is that I am trying to price shop certain wholesalers and it requires I set up a business before I can even see their pricing. Do you have any tips on how I can see pricing? I just want to manufacture crib sheets and covers for diaper changing pads but I am starting small so I want to do all my market research and go with one wholesaler first. Would love Riley Blake pricing.
Running into this exact problem. Have designs, have supplier and have fabric in hand but it's almost impossible to get the specs on the material I am using. All I know is that it's 100% knitted cotton. Finding out the yarn count, density and gsm seems impossible. The fabric stores have no idea at all, Ive been to countless tailors and seamstresses. Never been so frustrated in my life.
Do you have any knowledge with watches? Want to start my watch business but dont know much on how to get decent quality watches wholesale and brand them
It is better to start wholesale. Build what you're doing and learn how to make custom pieces at the same time. This video was to help understand that process a little better. Stay tuned for the next vids on the channel though. I go into detail with one of the largest manufacturers in the country!
Thank-you for your great videos. I have a question. How do I find a reliable manufacturer? There are so many out there and I do not know where to start. It is easy to purchase abroad when you want to purchase a specific product, but very difficult when you wish to create a product line. I have an accessory bag idea that I really want to offer, but I need help with finding a manufacturer. Can you help me?
Hello, I am very struggling to even start somewhere.. i have every design and everything already ready, i just need to find the place to print the clothing.. could you please help me out? i could show you my business plan and everything that i have in mind. You are my last hope!!
Check your spam box or junk folder. It usually goes to there. Please lmk if you haven’t seen it yet! The list is downloaded over 1000 times a month, and I rarely experience issues with it. But if there is one keep me posted.
Any pattern maker would prefer that if you have something close to what you want. Hand them a middle size like a large or medium so when you get to the grading (sizing) stage of the process they will size up and down accordingly from that sample size.
I think I will only sell what I would wear. You know? Because if I'm not willing to wear it why should anyone else? Before I get into the process (Since I don't have money to invest) I'm doing research, and creating art. I'm trying to save myself a lot of time and possibly wasting money in the process. I'm looking to start UA-cam and Vlogs or animation, Twitch for gaming and Instagram for beauty. :) Before I start a clothing line two years from now that way I have people that can be aware or share my product! I'm really in love with business, music and art. I could do that with a clothing line. :) I could put some music in my advertisement videos or future stores. :) I don't know but I'll figure out away to have fun with music. I can't wait. Two years from now. I have to follow up with trends to I suppose. After T-shirts I totally want to expand into more things. Like backpacks for sure and more sweaters. I love Spencers and Hot Topic and Vans so my dream would go beyond clothing I want to go into shoes. That's my dream and to eventually create stores that eventually gets in the malls! What mall doesn't have Hot Topic or Forever 21 or Victoria Secret? I'm aiming for teenagers and college students I think if I ever do something for adults it would be online because adults have credit cards and debt cards they can use. Not many teenagers do and college students don't spend that much anyway. So I totally want to make some clothing affordable so parents won't be like "That store is to pricey" to kids who want to shop there. That's reaction I had from my parents and when I was in elementary I was so into the emo shit kinda still am and they would hide Hot Topic for me.

You are my hero. Finally someone who cuts out all the bs and makes things simple to follow! Most definitely subscribing to you my friend!
Thank you so much for this video because I'm not looking to just buy someone's design or knock off design. I want to start my own brand with quality fabric. This isn't a side hustles it's long term for me.
If you need a fabric printer, Hampton Textile Printing was a very nice company to work with. Just wanted to throw that out there.
Great series of video's!! I'm in the same situations as others "manufacturing for my garment product and creating my prototype. I've been looking for years !! I'm ready to become a wholesaler in volume.

Loving your videos. What about buying outside of Us?
Have you tried sourcing fabrics at the Texworld show?
Hey John does it make more sense to wholesale order blank shirts? Or start sewing them from scratch? Isn't that crazy time consuming?
