Starting a clothing line is easier than you may think. The hard part is in growing it and maintaining your vision for the brand through the hard times. It all starts with a vision, and then comes down to the products that you decide to create. There is no need to spend thousands of dollars for printing, sewing or opening up your own building to start your brand. You can start this right out of your own house, on your terms, while working or going to school.
With that being said it’s important to note how products are actually made, so you have a clear understanding of manufacturing.
***How To Design Clothing***
All designs start off with a sketch, then go onto a CAD design to make the patterns, then sampling and finally making adjustments if they are needed. Adjustments will be necessary, so that is why making your own products can be expensive.
An alternative route in order to start your clothing line is discussed in this video, which will help you get off the ground and create a clothing brand.
From there you must market and sell your products and finally start shipping. These steps are essentially the things you will need to do in order to start and grow your clothing line.

Do you suggest starting an apparel brand (hoodies and t shirts ) with screen printing at local print shop and then when you start getting traffic / customers start doing cut and sew and getting a manufacturer .
If you’re on a budget like most startups are then yes. Build up the audience and customers so you can offer custom pieces to them as you grow.
John Santos ok thank you one more question . I wanna start a clothing brand but I can't draw or use adobe photoshop. Should I not start one? I used to be a pro at photoshop about 7 years ago but had stopped (broke and didn't have the money to buy another) . Would I be a fake "designer" ?

Hey bro...I set up my line and tried to get connected with Bella Canvas and was told I had to be a distributor/screen printing company. What’s up with that? Can you advise please? I have all my legal documents and went through your step by step process but this is the first snag in my garment. Kind of bummed out right now.
Bru Q You just sign up for wholesale pricing and then you will have to put your tax id of your business. If you don’t want to do all that there are other places that will sell you them without needing a tax id at wholesale pricing.
