- Going back to UND in the SR22T! We get some good flying back to UND. Had to negotiate some ice and low ceilings. We land for gas in Cheyenne Wyoming and did the RNAV 13 approach. Finally, the last leg to Grand Forks ending in the ILS 35L. Hope you enjoy our journey to UND! Go Sioux!!!

This channel is so underrated! Keep up the great work Ern! Appreciate these quality flying vids
I appreciate the compliment iVince905! Cheers!
you just need one more gopro behind you showing your instrument panel. Great flight
Thanks for the feedback Greg! I’m going to add the third but if I’m being honest the second was a learning curve😁. I’ll get there though. Thanks for hanging in there! Cheers!
@@FlyingwithBigErn You are doing a great job!!!
You are doing great but yes we would love to see the glass
You’re doing awesome!!! Can’t wait for the instrument panel camera!
She’s got the perfect role model. Keep up the good work - watched the entire thing! All the best
Appreciate that Gregory! Cheers!
Enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate that CitationMax! Cheers!
Almost flew over my old house. I spent a LOT of time up in the old control tower as a kid back in the 70's. The ATC guys would buzz us up and let us sit and watch them work. I met John Denver at that FBO's old cafe in 1978 as he'd fly up and do touch and go's in his Lear jet and then have lunch while getting fuel...A LOT of memories!
What a rough way to go back to school. Pretty awesome that you’re able to fly her back to school with your own plane!
Hi Tyler! Yeah, it’s a blessing for sure and thankful we had that opportunity. Bonding time for me as the proud papa😁. Cheers!
How sweet, grand forks is a great city, she’s in great hands! My uncle was a prof at UND Aerospace.
Amazing job! Loving the new videos
Great video! Brings back memories from my flight training days at UND. Love how Ashley pointed out watergate, one of the many reporting points there. Im Jealous she gets to fly the new Archers for her training . I graduated the year before they switched over the fleet. Love the channel and keep the great content Coming!!
It’s a great school. Really happy she chose to go there. Cheers!
Absolutely love the Cirrus!! Safe flying Big Ern!!
Big Ern is back in style!!!

Thanks for taking us with you, Ernie. I always enjoy the ride.
So amazing!!! Love your channel!
Hey BigErn, thanks for all the cool flight videos!
Really enjoyed this one Ern!
Great video Ernie! Would love to see more GA videos in the future! That Cirrus is one sweet ride!
Wow, just thinking back to my flying days and couldn't have imagined just how avionics have evolved. Makes IFR so much easier than back in the 70's
So much easier Tim! I do like the nostalgia of flying old school though. Brings back some good memories. And some that make me shake my head too😁
Another great vid. What a beautiful airplane!
You make it so enjoyable 😊
Great video my friend. That SR 22 is nuts.
Wow this brings back memories.... The snowy scenery, watergate checkpoint, and many landings on 35L. Great GA content, love seeing you fly the Green Hornet and look forward to watching many more trips with it!
Love your videos from a fellow Boeing guy.
Love this channel! I learn a lot
Beautiful video, beautiful shots, beautiful airplane. Very much enjoyed it. Thank you.
From one dad to another, “ A Tremendous proud day for you both”…
Wonderful seeing you interact with your daughter. You’ve got a beautiful aircraft and it will be interesting to see the advanced avionics in the weeks, months and years ahead. Thanks for bringing it all to us.
I came across your channel about three or four months ago and have been hooked ever since! Thanks for the videos!
Top video like always!
Great job Ernie, enjoyed watching the flight. Beautiful plane...

Excellent video ern! Lovin the color scheme on the green hornet
Tremendous videos! I appreciate your professionalism and your clear explanations of what’s going on. Actually provides me with excellent tips translatable to flying my Cessna310!
Great plane that C310! I have a few hours in it and loved it. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers!
Awesome to see you actually fly the plane now! I love the airline videos but this is a nice change of pace!
I’m happy you like it Denali! I’ve been wanting to add this to the channel so the feedback is much appreciated. Cheers!
What a great memory you just made. I think this is your best video yet.
Thanks David! For sure. Aviation has a way of bonding people together and even more so with your kids. Thankful for the opportunity. Cheers my friend👍🏽
Thanks Ern and Ashley, for bringing us along on the family trip! Love the SR22 its so capable, punches way above it’s weight.
Thanks Exile 1! It was fun to do it. Cheers!

Great trip I really enjoyed this flight,my best to you and your daughter take care!
Cheers Steve!
That's awesome your daughter goes to UND. I am stationed at Grand Forks and fly UAVs out of the base. On my drive to/from work, I enjoy seeing all the student pilots flying over the highway.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
16:37 about to say "Southwest" lol
😁. Almost came out lol
Great job with this video....like watching a movie.....keep it up!!
So awesome
Wow great video! We need to get you one more camera so we can get shots of the instrument panel🤪. Take care!
Hi Jeff! Yes, coming soon! Still trying to figure it all out. Having 2 was difficult to manage😁. I’ll get there though. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Cheers!
So glad to have found your channel-thanks for sharing this side of your life with us! Really cool to see this particular episode; I have a bunch of friends that studied at UND and my awesome little brother learned to fly there as well and I remember visiting him a few times, so it was really cool to see this (and I picked up a few tips from the teaching moments, too). Looking forward to the next one! Hope to see Seattle in an upcoming vid one of these days, but regardless, thanks and happy flying--under an hour and with a printer (or otherwise :).
I’m glad you’re here and happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos! UND is really a great school. I’ve been really impressed. I’m sure you’re brother is doing well. Thanks for the support! All the best to you! Cheers!
Great video as always :)
Thank you! Cheers!
I am a virtual pilot of a 737 and sometimes I fly so early at like 5:30-6:00 at the earliest and I fly to Midway a lot from Oakland and it's facing east towards the sunrise and when I fly over the mountains with the sunrise. It is so beautiful!
Yep, first and foremost, a camera pointed at the displays is very popular and we like to see. Nice audio and nice flight overall. The SR22T is an amazing aircraft.
Really loved this! One HUGE takeaway for me was at ~19:06 when you descended out of the IMC with the snow covered ground below. Honestly, that kinda fooled me! Had I been looking at the IAP, I think I would have been in better shape so lesson learned! Your daughter’s comment about the snow on the ground in Cheyenne was priceless: “...this ain’t nothing! This is just a prequel!” Awesome stuff!
Awesome vid. Love the green hornet
Thanks Brayden!👍
Awesome enjoyed the flight. Stay safe
Great video! Met you last year at UND"s career fair at the Alerus Center. It was very nice to meet you and see Southwest is getting their name into UND now! Nothing better than ice and snow!
Hey Noah! That was a cool event and I look forward to coming back. It was great meeting you as well. Hopefully see you next time. Cheers!
Nice video, great work!!!
Hey man just wanna say great video and very nice on the commentary can definitely tell you’re an airline pilot, very professional
Thank you Dwyke Jack! I appreciate the kind words. Cheers!
Great video! It’s Always neat to see what it’s like to capture IFR in the air and in a non jet aircraft. And seeing that rare rain in the Scottsdale area. I lived briefly on Camelback Rd while working for Mesa getting my experience as a dispatcher. Now I’m with a major. Glad we are both working at some capacity :)
Agreed Andrew! Cheers!
Gorgeous plane, nice work !
Cheers!
Great one Ern! '118.nothing' is my take away 😄
Wyoming ❤️ Also, great video!
Hahaha. I am glad you are doing well. Fly safe on both the big and small aircraft.
Love you and your family
you are a awesome pilot !!
Peace sign to the tower….......nice touch
Great video as always! Interesting to see how you fly a 737 and also other airplanes.
First timer here. Great video. Subbed. Took some undergraduate and postgraduate classes online from UND. Loved it. When we’re allowed to tour JSC again hit my up if y’all ever to Houston.
No need to apologize for any video delays. Your followers are understanding and patient. The left seat looks good on you. Looking forward to seeing you in the left at the company.
Appreciate that Tony! Man this one really did push my capabilities on editing😁. Going to be a bigger learning curve for the 3rd camera. Cheers!👍🏽
sweet plane. nice flight.
Great vid! Great radio work from your daughter! Bet she can’t wait to get rated in the new toy!
Hi Ian! Appreciate that. She’s a little intimidated with it but I’m sure in time and training she’ll enjoy it. Cheers!
@@FlyingwithBigErn tell her that ATC work for her and she does not work for them ;)
I don’t have the patience to wait on your videos 😂 always want more
😁 I just learned I need to start earlier with the muli camera videos. This one took a while😁
Very cool video! I went to UND as well, Graduated in 16' flight instructed at UND and at Avflight GFK! Good to see her enjoying it with you! GFK is an awesome place!
Very nice jdeel88! They were very good to us there at Avflight. Can’t wait to come back...going to wait until spring though😁. Cheers!
Very nice video Ern, I could’ve watched the entire 2 hour flight. You seem so much more relaxed in G. A. Mode and the real enjoyment of flying pierces your skies. It’s probably because your SW job won’t allow certain things although those flights are enjoyable also. Keep the G. A. coming, I enjoy the radio traffic, lil more instrumentation via the cameras if you can and until then enjoy clear blue VFR skies. Ashley is cool 👍🏾
Thanks X X! I just love Aviation and hope it comes through in the videos. Yes! I’m getting another camera for the instruments, thanks for the recommendation. I have to admit I have to learn how to coordinate all of them though😁. Cheers!
@@FlyingwithBigErn you’re doing fine Ern, just keep feeding us your expertise and we are good.
Would love to see more vids with the cirrus :)
Well done video. No apologies needed. It takes a lot of time and effort to make these. We are the lucky ones!
I appreciate that Richard. Cheers!👍🏽
The joys of GA...
Hi Ern. Great channel and Well Done on the videos! Your airplane has the perfect colors for a trip to UND! I did my primary training at Falcon Field way back in 1989. Flew to Scottsdale many times for lunch. Now working on an SR20 G6/Perspective+ checkout at KRNT. My son graduated from WMU flying SR20s. He's now instructing in 22Ts in the D.C. area. Great airplanes! Happy Flying! --Steve
Awesome Steve! Love that area you’re in. Have fun with that G6! The avionics are amazing. Best of luck to your son! Cheers!
Another great video! We usually hit CYS or PUB on the way down to IWA, and CPR on the way back up. RKS if we’re heading to SoCal. Love the right rudder on the Cirrus - makes learning about that as a PPL worth it! 🤣
Thanks Dan! Might hit up PUB on the next trip. Cheers!
Awesome video! Makes me really miss flying the cirrus. That garmin system looks a lot nicer than the avidyne.
Never flew the Avidyne system but I really like the Garmin. So advanced! Cheers!
Great video - wish I could take my kids on such a trip. Thank you for sharing :-)
Another Great Video Ern! You give me some Dwayne THE Rock Johnson vibes in the best way possible haha happy flying ✌🏼
Now those are some big shoes😁. Appreciate the compliment! Cheers!
As a fellow Cirrus pilot, this was an instant sub for me. Thanks! I'd love to know your story better. Maybe this is in another video?
