By far, the best E class Mercedes design. My dad had a 1991 W124 200 right-hand drive for the U.K market.Same exact color. These are slowly becoming rare and hard to find. Great to see this one get saved. The headlight wiper was very common for this era. Volvo BMW Saab and many high-end cars did this. Now days they replaced it with headlight spray nozzles that are hidden in the bumper.
OP described the vehicle properly, an extremely dirty Mercedes but a true, legit, Mercedes that lives up to the brand reputation as it is a W124. The cars being sold under the Mercedes badge today are flimsy city cars filled with toys and are constructed under tight budgets and not under the consideration of producing the most reliable and over-engineered cars.
I’m sure you guys don’t detail everything for free, but either way you guys did the owner of that car a huge favor. I love W124s so I’m glad to see one get so much love. Lol
You actually helped me understand how to approach certain parts of the car with this video because i have the same car, but in much better condition since it has only 180 000KM. Keep up the good work with both cleaning and videos!💪🏻
@@tomborrmann8397 there’s loads on them here in Los Angeles, I just got one with 187,000 miles, newly rebuilt transmission, and spectacular interior and exterior. Let me know if you want any help
I’m from Serbia, there is a ton of them here, at least on the streets, but the market for them is colorful, it all depends on how much you like that car and know what it is worth, not anybody is willing to pay more than 1500e for a car that is that age, no matter the condition.
Great detailing, these cars were superb, made to last and the paint was as honest as the day is long.... a good polish and looked like new...........Brilliant thanks. I had one of these back in the day, slow but hugged the road well and you could drive all day and feel fresh. The door mirrors always puzzled people why the were diffent, but it makes sense.

The Mercedes clean-up is a good testament to the quality of the materials. My subframe got rusty but Mercedes replaced it last week on warranty. That is good service on an 11 year old car. I'm going for another 11 years plus.

I know it looks strange but the headlamp wipers are there for snow. They’re mostly fitted to cars in high northern areas. Like Norway, Russia Scotland Northumberland England (were I live on the Scottish boarders) Canada and the northern states. There’s a fitting on most SAAB’s and Volvo’s that enable you to plug a heater int the water pump to keep the oil from thickening. All of these cars have day lights! A fuse disables them. But they’re their for the dark winters in these regions. So you have lights on all the time driving. This is now mandatory on all cars in Europe now! Hope this helps bud!! Love the videos!!!
Ah, the mighty W124 MB 🙂. I think this is the best video you've done so far, I just knew this would clean up well. I'm on my second W124, and they really are superb cars. MB very much of the old school, and all the better for it too.
Great Job Guys! This Mercedes-Benz showed how Valuable are Materials used in these Car. After all this years everything mostly came back like brand new ✨️
The interiors on the old Mercs (and other euros) were built so well. Always amazes me when I see how nicely they come back. I've had a couple Volvos with headlight wipers! Funny little feature. (Seen them on Saabs too)
& of course the fact that these vehicles are completely mint but the guys get them dirty and then clean them, there’s no way these cars have been sat for years in a barn or otherwise, check out some real “barn find” videos and you’ll see what I mean, this is just BS
mid to late eighties Benz and it clearly has been driven and used a bit. I guess cigarettes in there for 29 years. These are some of the last Benzes built to a higher standard. Doesn't surprise it transformed so well. - Thank you for this and well done
Mercedes from the 70s to 90s had by far the best paint and overall quality of any manufacturer. You should see how nice the wheel wells/undercarriage look after a deep clean of Benzes from this era, it’s insane. Not surprised at all with the outcome, hope the owner removes the ugly tint and then it will look much better.
Headlight wipers were quite common on upmarket cars from the 1970-90s, at least in europe. Maybe the mandatory and often smaller "sealed beam" headlights made them less common in the US.
Hi I'm ross and I live in Barbados. My grand dad had a Mazda 626 that he had bought in London and I'm talking about over 24 years ago and it had wipers on the headlights. My neighbour's also had a Volvo that the headlights carried wipers as well .
Awesome work bro, while extracting on the vid part 17:04 min, did you leave the carpet on the door side on purpose, it was stained of you've noticed it 😀
Agreed..and for question in the clip regarding what brands beside Mercedes were using head-lamps wipers i know these as i see few of them : Volvo 240 & S60, BMW E30 3series and E 28 & E34 5 series, SAAB 99, Range Rovers older versions..
Headlight wipers were introduced by Saab in the 60’s. They primarily used to remove snow when driving in snow fall but also worked to remove dirt and grime from the headlights. Many car companies stopped using it in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The last Saab to have this was the 2001 versions of 9-3 and 9-5 because they moved to plastic headlights and the wipers required glass headlights.
Awesome job, the only thing I would recommend would be to use a leather conditioner on the interior after cleaning it as to protect the luster of the leather and stop it from cracking.
My first car that I drove once I got my license. It was 10 years old by then😁 but drove like a tank. And it was manual! It wasn’t mine, a friend of mine let me drive it. That’s when I fell in love with these state of the art cars. I own 2 Mercedes( both E class) but they don’t compare with the W124
these early 90s mercedes realy stood the test of time .....they dont make them like this anymore

My 2001 Saab 93 had headlight wipers and I always loved that little quirky feature. I thought it was so European.
I had 3 of them, all bought 2nd hand and they never failed me. Best cars I had!
My dad had 3 of these but they were the 230E. All manual transmission. I remember how solid and comfortable they were.
The suspension was amazing!

Im afraid here only a full interior change helps, the seats can remain but all the other pure trash
Wow this is one of your best! Can’t believe how immaculate that interior was though even despite the grime!
