I've actually been looking for some vita horror games.

Death Mark and NG are PSVita essentials. Also Without Escape, Whispering Willows, and The Count Lucanor are worthwhile.
Death mark is such an S tier one.
Wow somebody else who knows about the Count Lucanor game? High five! The pixelated animated cutscene still impress me even to this day.
@@PSVitaat2am this game gets pretty disturbing for a pixelated game too...all i gotta do is mention pig boy and the goats and if you know you know.
If you liked the PSVita Corpse Party game, I highly recommend loading up the first one in PSP mode. It's got quite a bit more polish and has a great storyline. I'm glad I took the time to do it one rainy day, ended up getting hooked!

Always amazing how you still find these hidden gems in the Vita's library, James. You're absolutely correct, I don't think anyone at this point needs more mentions of RE Revelations or SH BOM. I surely don't. Will defnitely give Dying Reborn a go. I really wished that someone would port "Calling" over from the Wii. With its form factor remotely similar to a mobile phone that would have been a perfect fit for the Vita. Imagine being called on your Vita by a ghost from ingame.....

I never noticed the lack of Cthulhu horror style there is on the PSVita. And THANK YOU for not mentioning that Silent Hill Dungeon Crawler.
Hahaha! Yeah I too wasn't much of a fan of it. As a dungeon crawler game I thought it was decent enough, but it was far from a true Silent Hill experience.
Blood Drive is a sequel to the original Corpse Party and Book of Shadows, especially the intro sequence and Blood Drive Prologue chapter from the latter game.
The rest of BoS is a collection of what-if scenarios that serve as an alternate retelling based on one of the bad endings from the OG Corpse Party.
A lot of knowledge is required, but there's the Wiki to help those who wanna get up to speed much quicker.
Though, experiencing them by playing them in chronological order is recommended.
And yes, Blood Drive's performance on the Vita is the best horror for any player lol, but the Switch and Steam ports are much more polished, so you might go through either of them.
I will have to try them out. I remember somebody else in the comment section mentioning that there was also a PS4 version of the game, which I would imagine runs a lot smoother. 🤔
Dead Nation is my favorite horror game if it counts. The Cutter and the Mouth are pretty creepy, not gonna lie.
Sure I would say that counts. It's got some good zombies in it after all! 😁
Death Mark and NG. Best horror visual novels I have ever played, with some really tricky solutions and amazing soundtracks. NG goes beyond dark with the victims...
Big props to that dig at Saw. They really need to go back to their roots and focus on a story.

Some of these games actually do look/sound fun so I'm a bit sad people forgot about them. I honestly have never once seen someone reccomend the fish head game even when I'm actively looking for horror games that aren't just the same 3 recommended ones for Psvita. Psvita at 2am strikes again!

Corpse Party is one I'm still playing through its pretty fun and very graphic.. lots of intense moments. It is a little laggy at some points, but i didn't mind it too much
I agree! If it wasn't for those low times it would probably be one of my top favorite games on the PS Vita, easily at top 20.
Finally someone mentioned the corpse party series it's really underated , but I have to say 'blood drive' is nothing compared to 'Corpse party: Blood Covered' , the PSP game.
"Blood covered" is one of the best game in terms of story , it's 10 times better than "blood drive" , and it uses 2D pixel art graphics , so it's beautiful and timeless .
( P.S. one have to play blood covered , book of shadows and (optional ) sweet sachiko's hysteric birthday to understand blood drive )
Oh interesting, now you've got me more and more intrigued to actually check out the other games in the franchise. Really seems like I'm missing out. 🤩
Girls in Corpse Party was non stop screaming yelling freaking out pissed me off so badly.

"Attack On Titan 2"--giants eating people and there's no shortage of blood! I also like the Diablo-esque "Silent Hill Book of Memories" there are some demented parts to that.
Hey can I request you please do another English Patched or Japanese hidden gems, episode? I just discovered "Phantasy Star Nova" has a beta-patch and I try and keep an eye out for updates but you really have to know the title to see if it's patched. Also just looking at a list of just Japanese Vita game titles doesn't give you much information if all you can read is Katakana (and poorly at that). IDK just a thought. Great topic today, I need more horror games

Dying Reborn was good, but I usually count on the port of Dead Space to the Vita or play the PSP classics, like Silent Hill: Origins, Oscure: Aftermath or the good old PS1 Silent Hill and Resident Evil 2 (all playable on the awesome Vita)

While it didn't always run smoothly. I loved resident evil revelations 2. Maybe hacking and overclocking would help
I still had a really good time with it. I treated it as a late ps2/early ps3 game and it hit the spot for me
Honestly the frame rate in Resident Evil Revelations 2 didn't really bother me. It did Chuck but wasn't anything game breaking for me personally. I enjoyed it. 🤗

The first two on psp focused hard on sound/music and story line to really drag you into the story.

Unfortunately I haven't played the 3DS version, however I did have a buddy that bought that one and he absolutely loved it.

I really tried to like corpse party, But couldn't get into it. Dying reborn is pretty fun in VR, no horror games beat the old-fashioned silent Hill 1. Great video James
I bought Silent Hill 1 on my old PSP. I've tried everything to transfer it to my Vita. I even tried downloading it to my PS3 and moving to my Vita from there, but it won't let me.
@@KlingonCaptain I had to turn off the 2 factor verification thing to get that and origins to download. It's easier with a hacked Vita, now I just download it with a PC to my Vita.
Playing blood drive first will definitely feel rough , unless you've played blood covered , which is the first game on PSP .
Blood covered has a great story
@@KlingonCaptain You can’t transfer games from ps3 to vita/psp anymore. You could still download those games straight to your psp, but you’ll have to turn off your wifi security settings since new wifi security is too advanced for the psp
Oh interesting, I had no idea Dying Reborn was available in VR. I could imagine that bringing up the terror aspect of the game. I'll have to try it out!

I guess it depends on your perspective on it, Persona 3 probably came the closest out of the bunch to a horror game. Also kudos for mentioning A Rose in the Twilight, such an underrated game!

@PSVita at 2am yeah man! Like a dream! Extra screen real estate is brilliant too! Ive never found any game in the genre that is as good! Vita3k really is very impressive
i mean...horror can be a matter of perspective. take broken age or borderlands 2, for instance...please, take them. they are horrible ports...
Borderlands 2 port isn’t as bad as people say.
@@lesterbronson2385 as a borderlands fan, ...it kinda was tho. 2 missing DLCs and bad optimization, tho the gyro aiming was a very nice feature
@@geoserenity but if you have a modded vita (which idk why you shouldnt have in 2023) you can play the game on a locked 30fps. It makes a huge difference when you lower its resolution from HD to 640p. If only devs themselves did this.
@@vanitastmnt6080 But why play a still inferior version when I could play a better (and full) version on the Nintendo Switch or the Steam Deck? Both of which I have and are far superior (ok I don't have a steam deck, but it's the pc version anyway)
@@geoserenity i also finished the game on a pc and ps4 but it was still fun to play on psvita. Its one of my favorite borderlands 2 so ill gladly play it on everything.
